Set on a 40-acre lot, Aliante Station is the 18th property for Station Casinos in southern Nevada. Access, the property’s 600-plus seat concert venue, AV, lighting, control system infrastructure, and theatrical architecture was designed by Montreal based Sceno-plus. Audio Video Design-Build Group (Las Vegas) was hired to design and integrate the audio, video and control systems. LOS ANGELES⎯Patrick Mundy may be fairly new to the live sound game, but not digital mixers. He previously worked in studio recording and became familiar with them during that time and credits his audio recording mentor, Dave Fridmann, with providing him the tools to go out and mix live. Fridmann told him that the secret to a good studio sound was live sound. Mundy, as he is known, took that advice to heart and five years ago set out to use his people and mix skills learned in-studio into the world of sound reinforcement.

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Minnetonka’s Arts Center on 7 has a new look and a new speaker system thanks to Electronic Design Company (EDC) of Shoreview, Minnesota. The Minnetonka, Minnesota Performing Arts Center is located on the grounds of the high school and is a joint operation between the City of Minnetonka and Minnetonka School District 276.

The site has recently gone through a complete facelift and extensive remodeling. EDC has been in business for over 50 years and installed sound systems for the Guthrie Theatre and Children’s Theatre in Minneapolis, to name a few. The event ran from July 22 thru 26, in addition to a five-day load in and set up, and was attended by 38,000 teenagers from all over the world. BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. has appointed Kevin Kimmel to the position of mixer product manager, effective July 20. In his new position, Kimmel will be responsible for product training, the implementation of marketing and support programs, and recommendations for mixing console product design from the North American market to the research and development team in Japan. He will report to Marc Lopez, marketing manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc.

For three decades, Kimmel has been an audio mixer, system designer, recording engineer, and most recently held the position of Assistant Technical Director at Disneyland.
