Yamaha to Offer New DSR Powered Speaker Line

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. has announced the Q4 availability of the DSR Powered Speaker Series. The active loudspeaker series take full advantage of Yamaha expertise in digital sound design and acoustic technology.

The new Yamaha powered speaker series consists of the DSR112, DSR115, DSR215, and DSR118W subwoofer. All models feature 1300W high power and efficiency (LF: 850W, HF: 450W on all models except DSR118W @ 800W) with class D amplification; FIR filter processing (FIR-X Tuning); and D-Contour a multi-band dynamic processor for consistent clarity at both high and low output levels. The coverage pattern of the CDW horns are 90°x60°. The PFC switching mode power supply, amplifiers and transducers are continuously monitored by extensive DSP protection. more

Blackhawks Stanley Cup Celebration Gets the Goal With Edge ShowTek

Chicago, Ill.⎯ EDGE ShowTek of Northbrook, Illinois was recently tapped for audio support of the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Celebration Rally. An estimated 2 million fans lined Michigan Avenue to join the Blackhawks in celebrating their hard-earned win.

Due to a limited, four-hour set up time along with weight restrictions on hang points, EDGE determined a 48-box NEXO GEO S line array would meet the challenge. “NEXO GEO S was the perfect solution because we were able to get enough PA out there to allow the crowd to hear well and get the job done in the ‘not enough’ time we were allotted,? states Rich Mullen, Principal, EDGE ShowTek. Eight NEXO PS15s, eight PS10s, six CD18s, and a Yamaha LS9-16 were also part of the audio production system. more

Alliance Audio Group Named NEXO Rep Firm

Supersized NEXO GEO T Rig and Yamaha Consoles ‘Fantabulous’

Chicago, Ill.⎯The Allstate Arena in Chicago was the scene of the Live Nation/103.5 KISS FM six-hour late May concert event billed as ‘Fantanbuloso’ featuring Ludacris, Ke$ha, Jay Sean, Trey Songz, Kevin Rudolf, Jason Derulo, B.o.B and Orianthi. The sold-out concert venue seats 14,000.

Gand Concert Sound of Glenview, Illinois provided the supersized PA. Known as ‘The NEXO Guys’, the sound company provided a 72-box NEX GEO T system flown in four hangs with 28 CD18 subwoofers under the stage. Stage monitors were also NEXO and included PS15 wedges and Alpha side fills. NEXO PS10’s were provided for front fill immediately downstage for the concert-going SRO dancers. Total power for the system came in at 300,000 watts provided by Camco V6, Camco 200V and Yamaha PC9501N amps with NEXO NX242 controllers. Logic Systems Rocks the Range With 72 NEXO GEO T Boxes and Yamaha PM5D Consoles

COLUMBUS, OH⎯ Logic Systems Sound and Lighting, Inc. (St. Louis) provided the two-day ‘Rock on the Range’ (ROTR) Festival in Columbus, OH with audio and lighting production for the main stage that included 36 elements per side of a NEXO GEO-T line array. Bands performing included Sevendust, Theory of a Deadman, Puddle of Mudd, Drowning Pool, 3 Days Grace, Deftones, Apocolyptica, 5 Finger Death Punch, Slash, Seether, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, and Limp Bizkit. Approximately 100,000 attended the late May hard rock event at Crew Soccer Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, the largest ROTR event of the four held to date. more
