BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter John Legend recently performed for an audience of 5,500 at the Welsh-Ryan Arena on the campus of Northwestern University supported by Gand Concert Sound, providing the audio and SCS Productions, providing the lighting and staging. The event, produced by A&O Productions, was held to celebrate the inauguration of new Northwestern president, Morton Schapiro and also featured Northwestern-affiliated performers. It was the first time in four years that a concert had been held in the venue. more

Smash Mouth Motivates Illinois Teens with Concert Using NEXO and Yamaha Supplied by Gand Concert Sound

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Set on the Barrington (Illinois) High School football field in late September, musical act Smash Mouth participated in a teen motivational event that culminated in a performance in front of a crowd of 3,000. The Barrington School District is strongly committed to building children’s social, emotional and academic competencies, and this particular event was organized by a mental awareness coalition that included members of the Barrington School District, teens, parents, and community leaders. more

Thunder received an install ‘assist’ from Prodigy Music at the Perrysburg and Toledo sites. more

Ford AV Installs NEXO GEO S12 Line Array at Austin Ridge Bible Church

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Austin Ridge Bible Church in Austin, Texas, who took its name from the beautiful ridge it sits upon, has a ministry goal to facilitate worship in weekly gatherings on Sunday morning, and to equip its congregation to become lifestyle worshippers, not just on Sunday, but 24/7.

The church, which seats 750, recently hired Ford Audio-Video Systems, Inc. (Ford AV) to replace its existing speaker system with a NEXO GEO S 12 Series line array. Six NEXO GEO S1210s and two GEO S1230s were chosen along with two NXAMP 4×4 amps and two ALS2-PF subwoofers. more

Yamaha Output Product Updates Now Available

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. announces the fall availability of recently launched new output products and output product updates. Yamaha DME 3.5: New features in DME 3.5 include a Program Ducker component enabling fade-in/fade-out with much longer attack/release time than in existing DME units. Inverted ducking makes fade-in possible and enables gradual BGM ducking which is ideal for theme park paging, for example, and cross-fade source switching, necessary for broadcast. The new OSC On/Off oscillator key can be used as an assignment key while in Source to obtain a GPI effect. DME 3.5 provides ‘native’ support for MY16-ES64, MD64-EX, MY16-MD64, and MY16-EX cards available for DME64n and DME24n via the I/O card list in DME Designer software. more

Yamaha IPA8200 Series Power Amplifier Ships

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. has announced the availability of its latest power amplifier, the Yamaha IPA8200. The amplifier is a highly efficient Class D amplifier that delivers eight channels of 200W each (4 ohms) in a lightweight, but sturdy, 2U package. The new amplifier, which coincides with the recent release of the IMX644 rack mount mixer, is ideal for smaller-scale installations wanting the superior reliability and sound quality of a Yamaha product, and with the efficiency of Class D amplification. The IPA8200 is three times more efficient than conventional Class AB or Class H amplification and provides greatly reduced power consumption, heat dissipation and space requirements. more

‘Idol Live Tour 2009’ Experiences the Power of a Yamaha PM5D-EX System

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Season eight of American Idol (Fox) empowered viewers to share their voice in deciding America’s next singing superstar. This year’s winner was quite the surprise when Kris Allen took the number one spot, leaving Adam Lambert at number two. As with seasons’ past, the top 10 finalists are currently on tour with ‘Idol Live 2009’ that began in early July. This year, independent front of house engineer, Randy Lane, chose a Yamaha PM5D-EX system for the 50-city tour. more
