BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Season eight of American Idol (Fox) empowered viewers to share their voice in deciding America’s next singing superstar. This year’s winner was quite the surprise when Kris Allen took the number one spot, leaving Adam Lambert at number two. As with seasons’ past, the top 10 finalists are currently on tour with ‘Idol Live 2009’ that began in early July. Clair Global Purchases Last Yamaha PM5000 Analog Console

The final production model has been purchased by Clair Global (Lititz, Pa.). “The Yamaha PM5000 is an ideal transitional product in that it combines a familiar interface with elements of analog and digital,? says Clair president, Troy Clair. “It is also a great transitional tool for engineers who may not be fully convinced to make a complete move into digital. YAMAHA COMMERCIAL AUDIO SYSTEMS PROVIDES 7.1 SYSTEM FOR AES SPECIAL EVENTS ROOM

NEW YORK⎯Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. (YCAS) will provide a 7.1 system for use by the Audio Engineering Society in their Special Events Room #E12-13 during the AES Convention at the Javits Center. The sound system will include a Yamaha PM5D digital console and the new Yamaha TXn amplifiers running on a 96k EtherSound network featuring Yamaha IF3115 speakers in tri-amp mode, IF21115/AS in bi-amp mode, and IS1215 and IS1218 loudspeakers. more

Landmark Yamaha PM1D Digital Console Retires on 10TH Anniversary

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯On September 22, 1999, the Yamaha PM1D first-of-its-kind digital mixing system designed specifically for live sound reinforcement made its debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The PM1D started a digital revolution in live sound, and its worldwide popularity resulted in significant sales, and the beginning of a new era.

Now 10 years later, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. has announced that Yamaha Corporation Japan has reached the limit on availability of key components. Therefore, in order to secure enough parts for customer service well into the future, the production of this legendary mixing system will cease in December 2009. Current requests for PM1D systems will be fulfilled, and limited quantities will remain available until the existing stock is depleted.

AVDB Group Outfits Aliante Station Casino’s Access Theater with Dual Yamaha PM5D-RH Digital Consoles and DSP5D Expanders

LAS VEGAS, Nevada⎯Aliante Station broke ground in February 2008 and was a $662 million joint venture between Station Casinos and the Greenspun Corporation. Set on a 40-acre lot, Aliante Station is the 18th property for Station Casinos in southern Nevada. Access, the property’s 600-plus seat concert venue, AV, lighting, control system infrastructure, and theatrical architecture was designed by Montreal based Sceno-plus. Audio Video Design-Build Group (Las Vegas) was hired to design and integrate the audio, video and control systems. This was not the first time AVDB worked with Station Casinos; they were employed in 2007 to construct the multi-million dollar Ovation Theater at Green Valley Ranch Resort and Red Rock Resort’s ‘Rocks’ Lounge.

LOS ANGELES⎯Patrick Mundy may be fairly new to the live sound game, but not digital mixers. He previously worked in studio recording and became familiar with them during that time and credits his audio recording mentor, Dave Fridmann, with providing him the tools to go out and mix live. Fridmann told him that the secret to a good studio sound was live sound. Mundy, as he is known, took that advice to heart and five years ago set out to use his people and mix skills learned in-studio into the world of sound reinforcement.

OMNISON BUILDS UP NEXO ARTILLERY TO OVER 90 CABINETS
