PRG Distribution North America Partners with ChainMaster

PRG Distribution North America is pleased to announce their distribution partnership for North America, Mexico, Central America and South America with electric chain hoist manufacturer ChainMaster.

Manufacturing motors for the entertainment industry since 1993, ChainMaster introduced the first variable speed VarioLift motor in 1998. Their product line spans from 1/4 to 12 ton motors, 2-32 channel control boxes, their XYZ computer control for large jobs, and trolleys. ChainMaster was recently awarded the rigging contract for the Qatar Convention Center in Doha and is supplying that venue with nearly 1,800 VarioLifts and seven 256-channel control systems. more

RiverPark Center and PRG Support Educational Partnership

Production Resource Group (PRG) is pleased to announce it will join the unprecedented educational partnership in Owensboro, Kentucky of the RiverPark Center, Brescia University, Kentucky Wesleyan College and Owensboro Community and Technical College. The three academic institutions and the acclaimed RiverPark Center have banded together to create a one-of-a-kind Bachelor of Theatre Arts degree, which will allow enrolled students to participate in courses at each of the contributing institutions. The program will offer exceptional opportunities for students to receive both the creative and technical foundation for future careers in today’s entertainment industry. more

FLDA lights all the action for PokerStars Big Game

The Big Game from PokerStars.net dealt its first hand June 15th on Fox, airing on Fox affiliates around the country and online at PokerStars.net. FLDA Lighting Designer Bruce Ferri brought his signature lighting style to the six week poker program. “We shot for six days at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, covering 150 hands of poker per day,? explains Ferri. “In total, we shot 900 hands of poker to get six weeks of programming. Each round of 150 hands is five days of broadcast episodes. It was actually really interesting because poker is unpredictable and the stakes are high.? more

In Universal Pictures’ Get Him to The Greek, Director of Photography Robert Yeoman, ASC and Gaffer John Vecchio knew that the concert finale, the payoff of the comic road trip adventure, had to deliver visually. They turned to Production Resource Group (PRG) and Lighting/Video Designer Bryan Faris to create the iconic rock performance. “Bob and I spoke about the concert sequence the very first day of production,? explained Vecchio. “Director Nicholas Stoller expressed to us that he wanted it to look as big and contemporary as any concert out on tour. I knew we needed to call on the services of PRG. They do this day in and day out.? more

For World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Production Designer Jason Robinson chose the ChamSys MagicQ 100 Pro lighting control console. Previously, Robinson had used two other consoles, but the MagicQ had the versatility and features he needed for the grueling pace of the WWE. The WWE tours year-round with live events in two cities per week, where they tape four hours and broadcast two hours of live TV. In addition, they do twelve arena shows for pay-per-view events and the massive annual WrestleMania stadium event. more

When the legendary rock band The Who took the stage at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, FL for The Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show, it was the culmination of months of hard work and collaboration. “The Who is an iconic rock band known partly for a very distinctive and recognizable visual style,? commented Lighting Designer Al Gurdon. “There is a pre-existing visual ‘vocabulary’, which can inform and support the design approach.?
