MuxLab Launches New CCTV Power-Thru Converter Balun

MONTREAL, CANADA — MuxLab Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of the newest addition to its CCTV family; the CCTV Power-Thru Converter Balun (500024-CNV). The balun allows video and remote power to be transmitted via one Cat 5e/6 cable therefore eliminating the need to install multiple cables in analog security and surveillance environments.

The 500024-CNV converts 24V AC to DC in order to allow 12V DC cameras to be remotely powered from a central 24V AC CCTV power supply. The CCTV Power-Thru Converter Balun is installed at the camera side and works in conjunction with MuxLab’s CCTV Power-Thru Balun (500024), Passive CCTV Power Integrator Hub (500136), or Passive CCTV Hub (500130) for a complete cabling solution.

“MuxLab’s goal is to provide complete cabling solutions to our users and this new balun works in conjunction with some of our existing products to provide just that” said Marc Bohbot, MuxLab’s Director of R&D.

The balun supports video up to 2,200 ft (670m) via Cat 5e/6 UTP, and transmits 24V AC up to 795 ft (242m) @ 400mA max.

MuxLab Launches New HD-SDI to HDMI Extender Kit

AMSTERDAM, INTEGRATED SYSTEMS EUROPE, Booth # P-122 — MuxLab Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of the newest addition to its HD-SDI family; the HD-SDI to HDMI Extender Kit (500715). This new product converts HD-SDI to HDMI and then transmits it up to 330 ft (100m) via Cat5e/6 cable at all resolutions in a point-to-point configuration.

Ideal for various applications such as video production, broadcasting, post-production, and medical imaging displays, the 500715 supports SDI-SMPTE 259M-C (270Mbps), HD-SDI-SMPTE 292M (1.485, 1.485/1.001 Gbps), and HD-SDI-SMPTE 424M/425M (2.97/3.0 Gbps). For extended distances, the unit also supports up to 400 ft (122m) via Cat6 cable.

“This product has so many uses, like HD/SD routing and HD CCTV. The 500715 allows a more cost-efficient HDMI display to be used instead of a more costly HD-SDI monitor in video production applications. Furthermore the product eliminates the need for a separate HD-SDI-to-HDMI converter and HDMI extender thereby minimizing the number of points of failure and providing a total end-to-end solution” said Marc Bohbot, MuxLab’s Director of R&D. “We are extremely excited about the launch of this new product”.

The HD-SDI to HDMI Extender Kit supports transmission of up to 2.97/3.0 Gbps uncompressed, un-encrypted digital video (optionally including embedded Audio and/or Time Code) within television facilities and between professional video equipment.

MuxLab Previews New HDMI over IP Converter at CEDIA Expo 2012

Innovatively designed for a wide range of applications

MONTREAL, CANADA — MuxLab Inc. is thrilled with the pre-release response of the newest addition to its HDMI family; the HDMI over IP Converter. This new member of the MuxLab product line, previewed at the CEDIA Expo 2012 in Indianapolis, allows an HDMI source to be connected via any Ethernet LAN thereby allowing AV broadcasts to be set up and changed without the need for dedicated cabling system or AV matrix switch.

Developed for various applications including meeting and event broadcasts, digital signage, and digital video surveillance, the converter features two devices; the HDMI Encoder and the HDMI Decoder. The Encoder converts an HDMI signal into IP, thereby allowing it to be transmitted via an Ethernet 10/100/1000 BaseT LAN. The Decoder converts IP back to native HDMI for playback on an HDMI display.

Above being easy to use, the converter has features such as being compatible with HDMI 1.4, Ethernet 10/100/1000BaseT, PoE, up to 1080p resolution capability, unicasting and multicasting, bit rate and resolution management, and much more.

“When we envisioned this product we saw so many uses for it and we designed it to be able to perform in various applications,” said Marc Bohbot, MuxLab’s Director of Research and Development. “A good example would be using the converter to broadcast a video server output to any plasma display in a digital signage application”.

Working in conjunction with DVD, plasma, projectors, monitors, TV, PC, laptops, and servers supporting HDMI, HDMI over IP Converter is a complete solution that is easy to install and simple to use, keeping the new product in line with the rest of the MuxLab family of products.

MuxLab ProAV Baluns Streamline Professional AV Cabling

Ruggedized Enclosure, Locking RJ45 Connector and Heavy-Duty Cable Strain Relief

Montreal, Canada -  MuxLab Inc. (www.muxlab.com), a designer and manufacturer of CCTV and audio-video connectivity solutions for copper twisted pair, announces its latest line of ProAV Baluns for the professional audio-video environment.

The ProAV Baluns are designed to meet the demanding cabling needs of the pro-AV market and feature a ruggedized design.  Each balun is encased in a dust-proof cast aluminum enclosure and features an Ethercon™ RJ45S for robust cable strain relief. The baluns target rental & staging and video production where AV cabling is frequently setup and taken down, placing additional wear and tear on the cables and connections.

Furthermore the baluns work in pairs or in conjunction with other standard MuxLab that feature the same signal type and pin configuration.   For example, the ProAV balun may be connected to pro HD camcorders to transmit HD video and audio back to a mixer or switcher.  The ProAV baluns feature extra-long 12” cable leads to allow the baluns to be strapped or installed conveniently near the camera.  All ProAV baluns are designed to optimize the use of the Cat5e cable and support various combinations of video and audio.

Some of the many ProAV baluns offered by MuxLab: Component Video/Analog Audio (500052-Pro), Component/Composite Video (500056-Pro) and S-Video/Audio (500017-Pro).

The ProAV baluns are encased in a robust dustproof enclosure that resists punishment and feature heavy-duty cable strain relief to withstand the stresses of on-site video production. All wall baluns are terminated with Ethercon™ RJ45S connectors, support the EIA568 wiring standard and carry a lifetime warranty.
