DVEO to Introduce 2-7 Channel IP Multiplexer/Demultiplexer at NAB 2014

T-Mux IP-IP Muxer-Demuxer

IP Transport Stream Multiplexer for Multiple Program Transport Stream Creation -- T-Mux IP/IP

San Diego, California — March 26, 2014 — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), will introduce their new IP multiplexer/demultiplexer at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show, April 7-10, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at booth SU2903.

Multiplexers combine several MPEG-2 and/or H.264 transport streams into a single multiplex transport stream, or “mux” for short. They also combine several multiplexes into a single remultiplex, or “remux”.

DVEO’s T-Mux IP/IP is a professional transport stream multiplexer and demultiplexer with GigE inputs and output. It combines or multiplexes 2 to 7 incoming MPEG-2 and/or H.264 IP Transport Streams, single program transport streams (SPTS) or multiple program transport streams (MPTS), to a single multiple program transport stream.

The muxed stream can be output to IP (UDP or RTP) or optional DVB-ASI. The system also de-muxes transport streams (SPTS/MPTS) to two to seven MPEG-2 and H.264 transport streams.

“This device is designed for cable companies, telcos, and IPTV operators who source their content via dedicated circuits or public internet,” commented Laszlo Zoltan, Vice President of DVEO. “The T-Mux IP/IP provides an affordable way to deliver multiplexed IP streams across broadband infrastructure. It features excellent PID (program identifier) manipulation, including PID filtering, addition, and mapping.”

The T-Mux IP/IP features LCD front panel controls plus web-based management, and front panel connectors for easy setup of the IP inputs.

The optional ASI system includes one ASI input, seven UDP/RTP inputs, one ASI output, and one UDP/RTP output.

DVEO Shipping Latest Version of Documented “DOZER” IP Video Traffic Smoothing Technology for Smooth Video Over Public Internet

San Diego, California — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), is now shipping the second generation version of its innovative technology for smooth distribution of IP video over poor or average quality public Internet.

Designed for broadcasters, mobile operators, telcos, IPTV operators, and Over The Top (OTT) video providers, DVEO’s proprietary “DOZER” technology smoothes video traffic and recovers dropped packets. It features built-in algorithms to alleviate video freezes, jitter, and noise. New features for the latest version include more powerful performance, quicker set-up, and 50 or more channels out.

DVEO will demonstrate “DOZER” at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show, April 7-10, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at booth SU2903.

The DOZERbox II IP IP™ is a compact (4.6 inches wide) multifunction end-to-end router for reliable and timely delivery of MPEG-2 or H.264 transport streams. It “bulldozes” through slow and congested IP routers to improve video distribution. The technology is also available as a software license — the Media Dozer: LIC™, or in a 1 RU system — the DOZER Racks IP IP™.

Typically sold in pairs, the DOZERbox and DOZER Racks gateways replace expensive private point to point internet managed network connections. Customers can purchase the Media Dozer: LIC application software as an add-on for DVEO’s many encoder and gateway appliances, including the Mamba DIG/IP™, MultiStreamer™, MPEG Gearbox™, MultiStreamer Brutus™, MPEG Gearbox II™, and D-Streamer™ product lines. It is also available as a license for other devices.

“Media Dozer functions similarly to Forward Error Correction, but works at packets layer instead bytes layer. Our customers use this technology to deliver critical video over congested and noisy cloud based deployments,” stated Laszlo Zoltan, Vice President of DVEO. “With our latest upgrades, one DOZERbox transmitter can send 50 or more channels to one DOZERbox receiver. And each receiver can accept transmissions from up to 8 different Dozer transmitter devices. An added advantage is that all content is encrypted.”

When Media Dozer II: LIC is added to DVEO systems such as the MultiStreamer™ encoder or MPEG Gearbox II™ transcoder, the original content can be encoded or transcoded before it is processed by the Media Dozer II: LIC.

Media Dozer II: LIC can also be added to DVEO’s Proxicaster IP IP™, a stream packager that converts UDP or RTP to multicast, adds wrappers such as HLS or RTMP, and redirects video streams to multiple locations. This new combination product is sold as the Proxi DOZER™.

“Our Media Dozer II: LIC is licensable for use by CDN’s, OEMS, and middleware vendors,” Laszlo Zoltan went on to say. “We are actively negotiating with several encoder and CDN vendors.”

For optimum video streaming, when video will be transmitted and received from the same location, two separate systems are recommended for transmitting and receiving.

Cocola Broadcasting Companies Chooses DVEO’s Ad Serter IP/ASI/SDI to Manage Graphics Insertion

San Diego, California — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), announced that Cocola Broadcasting Companies has chosen the company’s Ad Serter technology to add advertising at one of its stations. Located in Fresno, California, Cocola Broadcasting Companies is a locally owned television broadcast company that operates 30 TV stations in California and Idaho.

Designed for broadcasters, IP content aggregators, and cable companies, the Ad Serter IP/ASI/SDI inserts or overlays scheduled or signal driven video ads, graphics, logos, video clips, writable slates, text, or emergency alerts anywhere on SD or HD live streams, with any degree of transparency. Graphics, logos, and text can be static, blinking, or rotating.

“At Cocola Broadcasting Companies, we are constantly needing graphics on different channels. Before the Ad Serter, re-wiring the graphic inserter on a different channel was a frequent occurrence,” said Gary M. Cocola, Chairman and CEO of Cocola Broadcasting Companies. “Now, thanks to the Ad Serter, we overlay graphics after the encoder on the multiplexed transport stream. No more recabling for different channels. We simply select which channel we want the graphics on and turn it on. It’s that easy. We love the Ad Serter.”

“We are very proud that Cocola Broadcasting Companies selected the Ad Serter,” said Laszlo Zoltan, Vice President of DVEO. “We recommend it to our customers for ‘branding’ content, adding graphics and text to programming, adding RSS or news feeds, and more. We also create customized systems.”

The Ad Serter stores graphics, clips, and messages in local memory, enabling customers to create large local graphical libraries for quick use. Graphical elements such as fancy boxes, borders, background colors, and identifiers can also be used to enhance the video content.

Cocola Broadcasting Companies purchased the Ad Serter with DVB-ASI input and output. The Ad Serter is also available with SDI input and output, IP input and output, or as a 20 channel IP input and output version for Telco TV.

The VidBak runs on a Windows® server with external storage arrays.

    5. 80 Channel Adaptive Optimized Transcoder for Mobile and OTT — MultiStreamer Brutus IV IP/IP: TELCO
The broadcast quality MultiStreamer Brutus IV IP/IP: TELCO is a real time transcoder, streamer and scaler. It transcodes up to 80 SD streams, or 40 720p HD streams, or 20 1080i/p HD streams from MPEG-2 to H.264 or vice-versa. Built on a dependable 4 x 8 Core Intel® Sandy Bridge CPU, the system is suitable for IPTV, OTT, mobile TV, broadcast, and Telco TV, or as a transcoder/reformatter for RTSP IP Cameras. The Brutus supports Flash, HLS, RTMP, HTTP, Smooth, and Live streaming and works well with Wowza®, Adobe® Flash® and RealNetworks® Servers. Audio support includes AAC, Ogg Vorbis, MPEG-1 Layer II, optional MP3, and/or optional “SurCode for Dolby Digital” AC-3.

    6. Live Ingest Stand Alone VOD Server and Live Media Distributor — Reality Anytime IP IP: TELCO
Recommended for small to mid-sized IPTV distribution, multiscreen content delivery, and stadiums, universities, and other public venues, the Reality Anytime IP IP Telco serves over 500 live and/or recorded streams on an on-demand basis to over 1,000 simultaneous users. It can support even more users with optional Intel® solid-state drives. It ingests “pre groomed” (pre formatted) live streams, then adds wrappers and protocols that are needed by today’s mobile devices, set top boxes, and OTT equipped televisions. Since this server automatically discovers files on other servers, some customers use it to create or augment their CDNs.

    7. Transport Stream Multiviewer and Monitoring System — IP Check
The IP Check is a real time multi-window MPEG-2 or H.264 IP transport stream monitoring system for viewing, monitoring, and logging errors in multi program IP streams. DVEO Selected for Streaming Media 100: The One Hundred Companies that Matter Most in Online Video

San Diego, California — October 8, 2013 — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), has been selected for the Streaming Media 100 — Streaming Media magazine’s annual list of the “100 Companies that Matter Most in Online Video”.

DVEO will demonstrate their newest video streaming technology at TelcoVision 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 24-25, in booth 613 — and at the Streaming Media West conference in Huntington Beach, California, November 19-20, in booth 207.

“As the number of companies in our space has grown, we’ve narrowed the purview of the Streaming Media 100 to focus exclusively on what we call ‘the enablers’,” said Streaming Media editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen. “The companies in the Streaming Media 100 are the technology leaders and innovators that make it possible for video publishers in all verticals — entertainment, education, enterprise, and government — to get their content to their viewers efficiently and effectively, and to maximize ROI to boot.”

“We began with a list of more than 250 companies, then asked Streaming Media’s editorial and publishing staff to rank each one on a scale of 1 (doesn’t belong on the list at all) to 5 (absolutely must be on the list if the list is to have any credibility),” Schumacher-Rasmussen continued. “After the votes were cast, only three companies averaged a perfect 5, and every company in the final 100 averaged at least a 2.5. To give you a sense of the spread, all of the companies in the top 50 scored at least a 3.3. These are truly the cream of the crop in our industry.”

“We are very proud to be recognized by Streaming Media,” said stated Laszlo Zoltan, Vice President of DVEO. “Becoming one of the Streaming Media 100 reinforces our position as a rapidly growing player in the streaming industry. We sell over 75 innovative streaming video products — including solutions for streaming, encoding, decoding, transcoding, time shifting, webcasting live events, distributing video streams over poor internet connections, and more. We provide one of the broadest, and most unique, streaming media product lines for Telco TV, IPTV, cable TV, Mobile DTV, corporations, and schools.”

At IBC 2013, DVEO to Demonstrate “DOZER” IP Video Traffic Shaping Technology for Optimal Video Over Public Internet

     DOZERbox IP IP

    DOZERbox IP IP

San Diego, California — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), will demonstrate their IP video traffic shaping technology at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, September 13-17, at Stand 2.A34. The technology is available in a system as the DOZERbox IP IP™, and as a software license — the Media Dozer: LIC™.

In most regions of the world, public internet infrastructure is not reliable and drops video packets. Public routers do not prioritize video traffic well enough. The DOZERbox and Media Dozer: LIC route video through the public internet in a unique way. They “bulldoze” through slow and congested routers and allow IPTV operators and Over The Top video providers to improve their video distribution — by enabling smooth low delay, high definition, and adaptive video streaming.

The DOZERbox and Media Dozer: LIC offer dependable distribution of MPEG-2 or H.264 SPTS or MPTS transport streams over average quality internet backbones. Typically sold in pairs, the DOZERbox gateways are more cost effective than private point to point internet connections and stream through most firewalls. The Media Dozer: LIC application software is available as an add-on for DVEO’s encoder and gateway appliances, including the Proxicaster™, MultiStreamer™, MPEG Gearbox™, MultiStreamer Brutus™, MPEG Magnus™, and D-Streamer™ product lines. It is also available as a license for customers’ own devices.

“This technology is ideal for CDNs, broadcasters, mobile operators, and telcos who deploy critical UDP streams across the public internet with the goal to be competitive,” stated Laszlo Zoltan, Sales Manager for DVEO. “Customers in the USA use Dozer technology to import video content from Greece, Iraq, Colombia, and Bangladesh – with no packet loss or video freezes, and lower latency.”

When Media Dozer: LIC is added to DVEO systems such as the MultiStreamer™ encoder or MPEG Magnus™ transcoder, the original content can be encoded or transcoded and converted to different IP protocols such as RTMP, RTSP, HLS, etc., before it is processed by the Media Dozer: LIC application.

When video will be transmitted and received from the same location, two separate systems are recommended for transmitting and receiving, for optimum video streaming.
