DVEO to Launch Portable Live Streaming & Encoding Appliance at IBC 2012 –- Compact System is Only 9.8 Inches/25 Centimeters Long

San Diego, California —

SDI/HD-SDI to IP Streamer/Encoder -– MultiStreamer™ DIG/IP (micro)

DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), will introduce the latest –- and smallest –- addition to their product family of real time streaming appliances that deliver content to iPads, laptops, OTT televisions, and mobile devices via IP. DVEO will debut the new system at Stand 2.A54 at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, September 7-11.

The portable Linux® based MultiStreamer DIG/IP™ (micro) encoder/live streamer is only 9.8 inches (25 centimeters) long and 7.8 inches (19.8 centimeters) wide. It accepts uncompressed SDI or HD-SDI video (or optional HDMI or analog) from cameras, editing systems, or video servers, and supports simultaneous IP input.

The “micro” creates multiple simultaneous high, medium, and low bitrate IP streams and sends them to smart phones, tablets, content delivery networks (CDNs), and remote video capture devices. The IP transport streams can be provided with most industry standard protocols, including UDP, RTP, or IGMP, and wrappers such as HLS, RTMP, RTSP, etc.

The MultiStreamer™ DIG/IP (micro) runs on a high end Intel® I7 4 Core (Ivy Bridge) processor. It encodes up to one 1080i or 1080p HD stream plus one 720p HD stream at 6 Mbps, and 2 SD streams at 2 Mbps. Audio output is AAC, Ogg Vorbis, optional MP3, optional MPEG-1 Layer II, or optional “SurCode for Dolby Digital” AC-3.

“The new MultiStreamer micro’s light weight and size make it much easier to carry HD video quality webcasting and streaming equipment to sites,” stated Scott Grizzle, Product Manager for DVEO. “Typically our customers use it in the field to gather news video and stream it live to the TV station. We also recommend it for sending video of live events and concerts, sporting events, corporate training, and religious services to iPads, iPhones, and other portable devices. This small portable box weighs just five pounds –- 2.27 kilograms.”

The MultiStreamer micro is also available in numerous video formats. All systems include one GigE IP input. Customers may select one additional input format –- SDI/HD-SDI, HDMI, 8VSB, DVB-T+T2, Analog, DVB-ASI, DVB-S+S2, QAM, or DVB-C. The systems include schedulable input -– they can receive input at a specified date and time.

DVEO Announces U.S. Introduction of World’s First Seamless IP Redundancy Switch – from Enensys Technologies

San Diego, California — May 17, 2012 — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), today announced the U.S. launch of the IPGuard failover and redundancy switch from Enensys Technologies SA. DVEO is the U.S. reseller of Enensys products.

Designed for broadcasters, webcasters, and content providers, the IPGuard is a seamless IP and MPEG-2 TS transport layer switching device that can convey MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264 in SD or HD content. It delivers 1+1 redundancy with two parallel IP input sources and two mirrored IP outputs. When the system detects a failure on one input – such as no IP stream or MPEG-2 or H.264 transport stream failure – it automatically switches over to the other valid input to provide continual output.

The IPGuard offers a bypass mechanism via solid state relays that creates 100% service availability in case of power outage. It is designed to provide an automatic 1+1 redundancy of network equipment that delivers services over IP – such as encoders, multiplexers, gateways, ASI to IP adapters, etc. Additionally, the IPGuard can also be operated to re-synchronize and re-align the same MPEG-2 stream that is carried over redundant IP-based networks. The latter introducing different network propagation delay, the IPGuard is able to re-align both IP streams to provide a seamless change-over between redundant IP streams.

“Innovative products like the IPGuard help strengthen the worldwide IP video infrastructure,” commented Laszlo Zoltan, Sales Manager for DVEO. “We recommend this unique system to all of our customers who stream video and/or audio over IP, and need a reliable way to protect their IP transport streams. It’s especially useful for streaming programs over IPTV.”

The switching criteria are programmable and rely on IP criteria and ETR 101 290 oriented health indicators. The IPGuard offers remote management, an easy to use web-based GUI, and an optional redundant power supply. It is available now and is already deployed in Europe.

San Diego, California — January 12, 2012 — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), is proud to introduce the latest addition to their unique product family of real time adaptive bitrate streaming transcoders.

Now shipping, the MultiStreamer IP/IP (Brutus)™ is an MPEG-2 to H.264, or H.264 to MPEG-2, transcoder Blade System with simultaneous multiformat inputs and outputs. It is targeted at cable operators, telco TV, IPTV, A/V systems, or university and entertainment systems.

The MultiStreamer IP/IP (Brutus) receives multiple simultaneous IP streams, transcodes them to H.264 or MPEG-2, and/or changes wrappers, and then streams them to any number of IP devices — including standard IP capable set-top boxes, streaming video, TV’s, smart phones, iPads, or software clients such as VLC or Mplayer. With the Brutus, Cable and Telco operators can transcode H.264 video to MPEG-2 and deliver it to customer’s home set-top boxes. This blade system can be used in the cloud or in installations where multiple options and extra horsepower are required.

The individual dual Intel® 6 core processor based blades feature multiprotocol, multiresolution, and multiwrapper support including RTMP, RTSP, and HTTP5 – plus an extensive number of IP output protocols.
