JVC LAUNCHES COST-EFFECTIVE GY-HM710U PROHD CAMCORDER AT INFOCOMM 2011

PANAMA’S TVN UPGRADES WITH FOR-A HVS-350HS AND HVS-300HS SWITCHERS

WHYY-TV Adds Broadcast Pix Granites to Control Room, Training Facility

Billerica, Massachusetts – PBS member station WHYY-TV in Philadelphia (DMA #4) has installed Broadcast Pix™ Granite™ live video production systems in two control rooms. Earlier this year, WHYY added a Granite 5000 when it converted the control room in its Content Production Center (CPC) into a flexible, multimedia resource for live production and more. A Granite 1000 is also at the heart of the Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons, an 8,000-square-foot interactive learning environment that opened last summer.

BROADCAST VETERAN DAVE SPRAKER JOINS ADVANCED BROADCAST SOLUTIONS AS ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

SEATAC, WA — Premier systems integration firm Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS) has hired Dave Spraker as Account Executive, effective June 1. He will be based out of Beaverton, Ore., and provide customer support throughout Oregon.

KRNV UPGRADES HD ENG WITH JVC GY-HM790U PROHD CAMCORDERS

WAYNE, NJ - JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced that KRNV, the NBC affiliate serving Reno, Nev. (DMA #108), has purchased 14 GY-HM790U ProHD cameras for ENG and creative services applications. The cameras arrived at the station in April, and most have already been deployed in the field.

NBC affiliate KRNV in Reno, Nev., is using its new JVC GY-HM790U ProHD camcorders in the field.

Jeff Deitch, KRNV chief photographer, said each shooter has two 32GB SDHC media cards, which provide more than enough storage for a normal news day. Paired with an interchangeable Fujinon 17x lens, the GY-HM790U is well equipped for one-man-band ENG work. Specifically, he said the lightweight camera’s 4.3-inch flip-out LCD monitor makes it easier for reporters to shoot stand-ups on their own.

Oslo, Norway – T-VIPS, a global leader in professional video contribution and distribution solutions, today announced that FMH-Nova, the Greek digital satellite pay TV platform, has selected and installed T-VIPS solutions to distribute Digital Terrestrial programming wirelessly to four transmitter sites across Greece. FMH-Nova has chosen to deploy the T-VIPS TVG420 ASI to IP Video Gateway, CP511 SFN Adaptor and T-VIPS Connect management system. The existing analogue channels will go live as Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) transmissions at the end of summer 2011.
