CNN TO REPLACE AGING, TAPE-BASED DV CAMCORDERS WITH JVC PROHD

WAYNE, NJ (November 18, 2010) – JVC Professional Products Company today announced that CNN has purchased 177 GY-HM100U ProHD camcorders, which JVC understands is the first step in a process to replace hundreds of aging, tape-based DV camcorders now in use throughout CNN’s global operations. Additional cameras are expected to be purchased by CNN in 2011.

A compact, handheld 3-CCD camcorder, the GY-HM100U records high definition video at 35 Mbps in the MPEG-2 format compatible with the XDCAM file-based workflow used throughout CNN. The JVC camcorder records 1080i files in the MP4 format directly onto SDHC memory cards.

WAYNE, N.J. – Starting this December, Brigham Young University’s BYU Television and KBYU Eleven will switch to an HDTV broadcast format at its new 100,000 square-foot media production and distribution facility, using an array of new FUJIFILM Optical Devices lenses on Sony HDC1400R cameras. Lenses purchased for the new HD studio include: one Fujinon XA88x8ESMDSS telephoto field lens, three XA72x9.3ESM DIGIDSS telephoto HD lenses, two HA27x6.5BESM studio lenses, two ZA12x4.5BERM wide angle ENG/EFP lenses, two ZA17x7.6BERM ENG-style HD lenses, and two HA26x6.7BESM HD studio lenses.

PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH INSTALLS FOR-A MV-3200 SERIES MULTI-VIEWER

CYPRESS, CALIF. – Pioneer Memorial Church in Berrien Springs, Mich., added the FOR-A MV-3200 Series multi-viewer as part of a larger reconstruction of its video control room last summer. The video team at the 3,500-member church produces a weekly telecast, New Perceptions, and the new FOR-A multi-viewer allowed them to replace a wall of aging CRT monitors with four flat panel displays.

Broadcast Pix Delivers 100th Granite Video Production System

Billerica, Massachusetts – Broadcast Pix™ today announced the shipment of its 100th Granite™ live video production system. The 100th unit was purchased by Cisco Systems in October, and is the company’s second Granite system.

Since it began shipping this summer, Granite has been installed in a variety of facilities in more than a dozen countries. Broadcasters include Turner, affiliates of ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS, the American Forces Network, SKY4 TV, and Israel’s Sport 5 sports cable channel. Large corporate users include SAS and 3M. A number of educational institutions have also made the move to Granite, including the University of Virginia, SUNY Fredonia, Pueblo Community College, and Kettering Fairmont High School. Additional installations include Internet entertainment news site TMZ.com, churches like Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas, and sporting venues like Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash.

TV One Replaces Aging Advertising Traffic System with Broadway Systems End-to-End Software Platform

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Broadway Systems, the leading provider of advertising management software for cable networks, announced today that TV One is using Broadway’s end-to-end software platform to manage program scheduling, advertising sales, and traffic and billing. The cable network, which is available in more than 50.4 million households and targets African American adult viewers, went live with the system in late September.

With Broadway’s Sales Planning and Proposal, Traffic and Billing, and Program Management software modules, TV One now has a single solution. WHYY Drives Up-to-the-Minute Election Results with Broadcast Pix Fluent Rapid CG

Billerica, Massachusetts – WHYY-TV, the PBS member station serving Philadelphia (DMA #4), used the new Fluent™ Rapid CG option with its Broadcast Pix Slate™ 5000 video production system last week to streamline its coverage of live election results. With Rapid CG, the station was able to automatically and seamlessly integrate the AP News Wire feed into its on-air graphics, which provided up-to-the-minute results for several significant political races in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

FOR-A HVS-300HS SWITCHER MULTITASKS AT MVT PRODUCTIONS CORPORATE EVENTS

COLUMBIA COLLEGE CHICAGO INSTALLS JVC DLA-RS35U REFERENCE SERIES PROJECTORS IN SCREENING ROOMS

WAYNE, NJ – JVC Professional Products, a division of JVC U.S.A., today announced that the Department of Film & Video at Columbia College Chicago – one of the largest accredited film schools in the world – has purchased six DLA-RS35U Reference Series projectors for its screening rooms.
