With a break to write and record their third album imminent, British power pop favourites The Feeling bid a temporary farewell to their fans by spending November touring the UK and Ireland. One week in October saw UK digital mixing console manufacturer DiGiCo receive two awards for its new entry-level SD8 – Best Sound Product of the Year at the LDI Show in Las Vegas and Most Innovative Product in the Live Industry at SIEL, SATIS and Le RADIO, held in the French capital of Paris.
In Paris, RIk Hoerée and Laurent Laignel of DiGiCo’s French distributor, Apex France, were on hand to collect the Most Innovative Product in the Live Industry trophy. more

UK – 3rd November 08 – 59 sold out dates and a total audience figure estimated at 400,000 makes the Lee Evans Big Tour the UK’s largest stand-up comedy tour of 2008. Taking in arenas the length and breadth of the UK, visual appeal was an important factor right from the very start. When the University of Dundee embarked on building a major new teaching facility, it was a key requirement to include the best possible induction loop systems, to ensure that its hearing impaired students receive just as much benefit from its courses as every other scholar. With this in mind, no less than 31 teaching rooms, staff rooms and lecture theatres in the new facility have Ampetronic loops installed. more

Named in honour of the late Tony Gottelier, PLASA08’s Gottelier Award was presented to digital mixing console manufacturer DiGiCo’s Technical Director, John Stadius.

Stadius’s association with the company spans three decades. In 1978 he joined Soundtracs plc, the company which DiGiCo purchased in 2002, initially designing disco consoles, mixers, power amplifiers and loudspeaker. In more recently years, he has taken digital mixing consoles to a new level by developing the first, and only, consoles based around a single FPGA engine – the SD7 launched at PLASA07 and the SD8, launched at this year’s show. more

With Turbosound’s Flex Array having proved an immediate success in both the UK and the USA, continental Europe has also not been slow to notice the qualities of the new system.
German audio rental company BLL-Veranstaltungstechnik, based in the city of Krefeld, has undertaken a number of high profile summer events with its Flex Array system complementing its large inventory of Turbosound Aspect and NuQ loudspeakers.
Mid-July saw the company providing sound reinforcement for many elements of the annual Loveparade festival which all-but consumes the city of Dortmund each year. more

Italy – 19th September 08 – Following comprehensive evaluation process, the Azerbaijan Republic has ordered 200 panels of Lighthouse R16i/o 16mm LED screen.

Supplied by Lighthouse’s partner Provid Systems Limited, based in the Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul, and with service offices in the Azerbaijan capital of Baku, the screens will be used at important public and cultural events such as National Days, sports tournaments and other live events. more
