Prism Sound’s highly-regarded MEA-2 stereo analogue equalizer and MLA-2 stereo compressor have both undergone major upgrades to improve their performance and update their appearance.

On show for the first time at AES in San Francisco (Booth 725), the new versions of these two modern-day classics were updated by engineer/producer Leif Mases who first developed the MEA-2 and MLA-2 for Prism Sound in 1995. Leif’s work with a diverse range of artists including Abba, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck and Black Sabbath, as well as co-ownership of the renowned Marcus Studios in London, provided the essential experience using the “tools of the trade” needed to define and implement new and improved professional audio components. more

Cyprus-based broadcaster Capital TV has invested in a Fairlight Xynergi with a 12-fader sidecar, which has been installed in the broadcaster’s first dedicated audio post production suite.

Capital TV, which is based in Limassol and produces a daily mix of local news, magazine and sports programming, recently decided to expand its business by offering facilities for dubbing and trailer production. more

Fairlight has responded to overwhelming calls to bring its Xynergi based SLICK (self labeling illuminated computer key switches) technology to its popular Constellation large format mixing consoles. The XCS panel, which stands for Xynergi Centre Section, is now an available option across the complete range of its Constellation console series.

The Xynergi controller technology was first launched to the world in the form of the desktop Xynergi Media Production Centre and, according to Fairlight’s Sales & Marketing Director, Stuart DeMarais, “it quickly became clear that with the Xynergi technology, we had invented a controller that re-defined how users interface with their creative environment. Visions, the largest independent Outside Broadcast facilities company in the UK, has taken delivery of the first batch of award-winning PT0760M Multi-channel Video Waveform Monitors to roll off the DK-Technologies production line in Denmark.

Although not officially due to ship until August, six of the units – literally serial numbered one to six – were rushed through the production process ahead of schedule so that Visions could use them for its coverage of Wimbledon 2008. Within hours of Rafael Nadal’s epic victory over Roger Federer, the units were being packed up for an epic of their own – the journey to Beijing, where they played a vital role in capturing the Olympics for US broadcaster NBC.

Visions Technical Director Rob Newton, who spent two weeks in China overseeing the broadcasts, says: “The DK units proved to be incredibly reliable and we had absolutely no problems with them, which is always a good sign for the future of such a new piece of technology. Our engineers really liked them and although we were only using a fraction of their functionality, they turned out to be really useful additions to our equipment list.� more
