Biamp Systems Makes AVB Connectivity Smarter and Available to Applications of All Sizes

Tesira(R) 2.0 delivers preconfigured products for greater simplicity and increased flexibility for everyday and enterprise-level audio

AMSTERDAM, ISE 2014 — Feb. 4, 2014 — Biamp Systems, a leading provider of innovative, networked media systems, today announced the launch of Tesira(R) 2.0, the latest version of the company’s flagship family of digital signal processor (DSP)-based media systems. The centerpiece of Tesira 2.0 is TesiraFORTÉ, an all-new series of audio processors that extend Audio Video Bridging (AVB) to application-specific settings. TesiraFORTÉ consists of eight preconfigured models (four AVB models and four non-AVB models) designed to bring greater simplicity and more options to today’s conferencing, telephony, and VoIP environments.

Also shipping with Tesira 2.0 is Biamp’s new Dante(TM)-enabled DAN-1 digital server networking card, which, like its current CobraNet(R) card, functions as a gateway interface to support 64×64 channels of Dante networked audio. The DAN-1 card provides system integrators with a Dante digital transport within Tesira media systems. While the Tesira platform operates over AVB, with the addition of the DAN-1 card, customers will have the flexibility of integrating with different system types. The DAN-1 can also be used alongside AVB and/or CobraNet in the same Tesira SERVER or SERVER-IO.

In addition, Tesira 2.0 includes new firmware and software that enable two Tesira SERVERs to act as a redundant pair — with the secondary Tesira SERVER providing a mirrored backup to prevent any interruption in service in case of failure in the primary SERVER.

Ideal for corporate, government, and higher education settings, TesiraFORTÉ leverages a customer’s existing cabling infrastructure to enable cost-effective installations wherever there is a need for networked audio. The Tesira network can be set up and managed centrally or remotely, with the ability to incorporate additional Tesira products quickly and easily as needed. Class-leading audio technologies including Sona(TM) AEC technology, SpeechSense(TM), and AmbientSense(TM) provide clear, echo-free audio communication within any conference room, auditorium, or training space. Each TesiraFORTÉ solution is equipped with 12 mic/line inputs, 8 mic/line outputs, 4-pin GPIO, and 128×128 channels of AVB.

The four new models of TesiraFORTÉ include both AVB and non-AVB versions:
- TesiraFORTÉ AI provides a basic audio interface for high-quality audio in small- to medium-sized spaces.
- TesiraFORTÉ CI includes Sona AEC technology for conferencing applications.
- TesiraFORTÉ TI provides specialized conferencing over a standard telephone service and includes Sona AEC technology.
- TesiraFORTÉ VI is a VoIP conferencing solution with Sona AEC technology.

Each model can be used as a stand-alone system (non-AVB) or within an AVB-networked solution to deliver the specific features and connections needed for each application. Each device also offers eight-channel USB audio support to interface directly with third-party technology, supporting a variety of conferencing, recording, and background music requirements.

With the launch of Tesira 2.0, Biamp(R) is expanding its world-renowned certification training by offering the company’s first-ever online certification course. This online course is focused on TesiraFORTÉ, providing an alternative to the in-person certification training offered around the globe for those who desire TesiraFORTÉ certification only.

Mixed Audio Conversion Now Available for Display Installations and Legacy Devices

Designed to simplify mixed audio installations, the AT-HD-M2C accepts Dolby(R) and DTS multichannel audio before converting signals into a two-channel audio format. This enables the reception of multichannel audio content, conversion into two channels, and playback on endpoints that normally cannot accept multichannel sources — delivering full compatibility with both displays and legacy devices such as audio receivers.

To convert optimized audio signals reliably from source to display, the AT-HD-M2C uses EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) to provide plug-and-play simplicity — eliminating the need for complex programming, which results in automatic signal detection and delivery. Taking the guesswork out of managing audio, discreet status lights for PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS Digital Surround”, and DTS-HD Master Audio allow users to determine the incoming audio signal at a glance.

For amplifiers and legacy audio receivers, a variety of output ports such as L/R analog audio, coaxial, and TOSLINK digital audio enable pass-through even without HDMI support, while retaining the ability to distribute both audio and video to HDMI displays.

Demo Will Prelude Upcoming Integration of Revolabs Executive Elite(TM) Microphones and the Biamp Tesira(R) DSP System Using AVB Connectivity

SUDBURY, Mass. and BEAVERTON, Ore. — Jan. 30, 2014 — At the upcoming ISE 2014 show in Amsterdam, Revolabs and Biamp Systems will join forces to present a technical demonstration of Audio Video Bridging (AVB) interoperability between Revolabs Executive Elite(TM) wireless microphone system and Biamp System’s Tesira(R) digital signal processor (DSP)-based media system. The demonstration, a preview of upcoming development work to integrate the two products, will take place on Revolabs’ stand 12-A92 at ISE 2014.

Both Revolabs and Biamp(R) are members of the AVnu Alliance, a consortium that advocates adoption of the IEEE 802.1 AVB standards designed to make Ethernet suitable for audio and video transport. At ISE 2014, Revolabs will demonstrate an AVB link between its breakthrough Executive Elite four- and eight-channel wireless microphone system and Biamp’s industry-leading Tesira scalable DSP media system. Engineering groups from Revolabs and Biamp will work together to develop a complete AVB solution integrating the two systems.
