HaiVision Launches PIRANHA Combining Audio and Video With Metadata for Low Latency H.264 Encoding Application

MONTREAL — Nov. 6, 2008 — HaiVision Systems Inc., the world’s leading vendor of high performance H.264 HD and SD video codecs, today announced the availability of the new PIRANHA encoding platform. The PIRANHA, based on HaiVision’s low-latency H.264 encoding engine, combines time-based metadata with compressed video and audio into industry-standard MPEG transport streams. The PIRANHA is targeted at applications specifically within military markets where auxiliary data is directly associated with the video stream, such as mobile surveillance platforms. Because such data can change over time (e.g., position information), the data is merged in real time with the compressed video information for transport to remote storage, processing, or display devices. more
