NEW YORK: On Thursday, October 20, 2:30 – 4:00 pm, the 131st AES Convention will host an exclusive dialogue with iconic recording star, Tony Bennett. The conversation will include legendary producer/engineer Phil Ramone, and celebrated recording engineer/studio owner/co-producer, Dae Bennett. DeYoung ‘Sails Away’ at Wrigley Field with Support by Gand, Yamaha, and NEXO

CHICAGO—Founding member and lead vocalist for the band Styx and now out on his own for the past ten years, Dennis DeYoung recently performed a private show at Wrigley Field in Chicago for approximately 500 guests. Thanks to the sound production efforts of Gand Concert Sound (aka the ‘NEXO Guys’) who provided 16 NEXO GEO S8 speaker boxes and two Yamaha PM5D-RH digital audio consoles, the private event went off without a hitch.

With the two Yamaha PM5D-RH consoles positioned at front of house and monitors, the NEXO rig was configured with eight NEXO GEO S8 boxes per side flown, four NEXO CD18 subs, two PS8s for frontfills, two PS10s for outfills, and eight NEXO PS15 slants on five mixes. OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA – SEPTEMBER 2011: Producer and engineer Dave Lichtenstein “has always known about API” and its “legendary” reputation. So, when he decided to open his own recording facility, he turned to API and its Vision analog console.

Red TX Brings Stunning Audio Quality To The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ New Album Launch

Broadcast sound specialist Red TX was recently commissioned to capture the audio for a very special Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Cologne, Germany, which was filmed and broadcast live to 1,500 cinemas around the world.

The concert marked the launch of the multi-platinum rock band’s new album, I’m With You, released through Warner Bros. Records on August 29th. The band played the album in its entirety and followed up with some of their greatest hits.

Production company Splinter chose Red-TX to handle the audio component of the project on the basis of its previous good working relationship with the sound specialists. Renowned live sound engineer and Red TX director Tim Summerhayes manned the desk on board Red TX’s new RED II truck and provided a live audio feed that achieved the same quality as the band’s in-studio performance.

Red TX Unveils A Brand New Broadcast Audio Recording Vehicle

Broadcast sound specialist Red TX generated plenty of interest when it officially unveiled its new RED II mobile recording unit at Pinewood Studios before an audience of invited guests from various music and broadcast industry trade associations.

The new truck, which is designed to cater for 3D and 7.1 surround sound productions, enables Red TX to tackle more high quality broadcast productions without the need to outsource. Its innovative design also makes it much easier to mix surround sound audio in a live environment – and it’s a lot more comfortable for the people working on-board.
