Nashville’s Blue Grotto.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – JULY 2011: In science fiction stories, the world is often populated by secret wormholes – magical confluences in space and time that can transport people to other planes of existence. Such wormholes provide a nice analogy to the proprietary PhantomFocusTM System monitor tuning protocol of acoustician, studio designer, and all-around sonic sorcerer Carl Tatz. Tatz’ ingenious tuning system, which is a multi-dimensional mixture of hardware, knowledge, and application, can deliver “the sweet spot from God” in any studio control room, from the newest multi-million dollar mega-studio to the humblest of bedroom arrangements. Recently, two of Tatz’ PhantomFocus System installations earned Mix Magazine’s “Class of 2011″ Studio Design Awards. Like most PhantomFocus System installations, Carl Tatz relies on an Ashly Audio signal processor engine to deliver a perfectly tuned sweet spot, which more

Danley Jericho and Genesis horns backed by TH-118 subs and SH-50 full-range loudspeakers deliver fidelity and high volume at Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland the area’s premiere venue for sporting and entertainment events.

KATOWICE, POLAND – JULY 2011: In an age where arenas are named in honor of the often colorless corporations that put up the most money, Poland’s legendary Spodek arena stands as an inspiring counter-example. Translated literally as “Saucer,” the forty year-old building bears an uncanny resemblance to a tilted UFO in flight. Everything about Spodek serves as an honorable foundation to the cultural touchstones of entertainment and sports that find an audience there daily. Every major musical act that tours through Poland is sure to play Spodek, and the arena hosts a range of athletic events, including the recent 2009 EuroBasket championship. At that more

JAY RUSTON FINDS METRIC HALO CHANNELSTRIP IN TIME FOR ANTHRAX’ NEW ALBUM, WORSHIP MUSIC

jay_ruston.JPG

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NEW YORK – JULY 2011: Producer and engineer Jay Ruston has been recording and mixing tracks for artists such as The Donnas, Jars of Clay, Steel Panther, and Meatloaf for going on twenty years. He has watched the technology that is championed by the industry shift and evolve, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. He hangs onto the better bits. For example, Ruston is an avid (ha!) user of Pro Tools, which he pairs with a Trident console for analog summing. Recently, while working with Anthrax on their forthcoming release, Worship Music, Ruston found Metric Halo’s ChannelStrip plug-in, which combines the classic frequency and dynamics tools found on the monster analog consoles of yore. Together with Anthrax producer and guitarist Rob Caggiano, Ruston recorded and mixed the album.

“I heard about Metric Halo and specifically, ChannelStrip, from Rob and from an article I was more
