red_horse_studios.JPG

AUSTIN, TEXAS – OCTOBER 2011: One of Automated Processes, Inc.’s renowned 1608 analog consoles has recently been installed at Red Horse ATX Recording Studio – a recording facility owned by Jimmy Thrill Quill. Quill, lead singer of rock group Rattlesnake Shake and Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing fame, said an API 1608 was the perfect console for his studio’s centerpiece.

“Buying the API 1608 from Sonic Circus was the most magical thing,” said Quill, who ordinarily works as a realtor for musicians and other celebrities. “API has been every other word for me; I’m getting voicemails all the time from people asking if they can come see the board. API has the reputation and I don’t have to sell it. I can tell you that a lot of the young kids who come out of Pro Tools look at the board like it’s the most beautiful thing on earth. Discover Video Introduces Live Flash Transcoding to Mobile Phones and Tablets

WALLINGFORD, CT – October 05, 2011 – Discover Video, LLC (www.discovervideo.com), a leader in video streaming products and solutions, today announced a new live and file Flash streaming transcoder (DVT) for delivering live video to mobile Smartphones, Tablets, and to devices such as Roku . The DVT now supports live Flash ingest which allows users to stream live at the highest possible quality and bit rate, and allow the server to deliver multiple bit rates to viewers. This is especially useful for the explosion of mobile broadcasting where lower streaming bit rates are necessary due to the limits of 3G and 4G networks.

The Discover Video Transcoder (DVT) is available as a simple software product, as a fully configured server, or as a cloud based service. It can transcode live Windows Media, Flash, MPEG-4, or MPEG-2 streams or files to H.264 Flash, and Windows Media. Applications include:

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA – SEPTEMBER 2011: Reel FX Creative Studios is an award-winning animation studio (Katy Perry, Rihanna, Audi, Looney Toons, Watchmen, et al.) with production facilities in Dallas, Texas and Santa Monica, California. Recently, Reel FX Creative Studios repurposed a space at its Santa Monica location to build a new 3D editing suite. The company called on industry veterans Bruce Black and Charles Pell, both members of the Motion Picture Academy with well over half a century in the business between them, to design and install the audio monitoring section in the suite. The duo have worked at such heavy-hitter studios as HBO, Light Iron Digital, Larson Sound, and others. Black has also worked for Skywalker Sound, director Michael Mann, and film mixer Paul Massey.

Citing its flexibility, high-end fidelity, and competitive price point, Black used a Symetrix SymNet Solus 8 to route, level, and condition output to more

25TH STREET RECORDING TO OPEN WITH API VISION CONSOLE

25th_street_recording.JPG

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA – SEPTEMBER 2011: Producer and engineer Dave Lichtenstein “has always known about API” and its “legendary” reputation. So, when he decided to open his own recording facility, he turned to API and its Vision analog console.

“It was at AES in San Francisco that I first saw the API Vision,” said Lichtenstein. There, he learned about the Vision’s all-discrete analog circuitry – a characteristic that the modern console shares with its predecessors and something that greatly appealed to him.

“I evaluated a lot of consoles in my exhaustive search for my studio’s centerpiece,” said Lichtenstein. “I love the sound of vintage analog consoles and was considering going that route, but I was wary of the inevitable maintenance and downtime that would be involved. The fact that the Vision is entirely discrete and has great modern features, such as extensive surround capabilities, along with powerful automation and more

Empowering partners with better access to 4:3 format imaging

Cooperating closely with partners in key markets and application areas, projectiondesign® has worked hard to meet product needs and requirements.

A result of closer partner cooperation is a resolution and electronics upgrade to encompass SXGA+ resolution in the flagship F82 series three-chip DLP® projector. The model is already available in WUXGA and 1080p resolutions, meeting the requirements for widescreen video, computer and data centric imaging, but adding SXGA+ has been a specific requirement for some key application areas.

CINCINNATI, OHIO – SEPTEMBER 2011: For over a century, God’s Bible School & College in Cincinnati, Ohio has been preparing young people for effective careers in the service of the church, both at home and overseas. A fully accredited college, GBSC offers its students a well-balanced curriculum together with all the social amenities of the larger colleges in the Buckeye State. Among its architectural gems is a beautiful 1,000-seat chapel housed within the Knapp Memorial Building, which, until recently, limped along with an underpowered and semi-functional sound reinforcement system. A new collection of Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers and subwoofers has breathed new life into the chapel – and at a very affordable price.

The musical portions of the services held by GBSC are best described as classical, infused with elements of southern gospel. Apart from the steady accrual of speaker failures in the old system, the school’s music department more

A GIFT FOR SAINT NICHOLAS: ASHLY GEAR TURNS TERRIBLE SOUND TO GOLD

st_nicholas_1.JPG

TARPON SPRINGS, FLORIDA – SEPTEMBER 2011: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Tarpon Springs, Florida is an impressive structure. Built in 1942, it earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places to help preserve its gorgeous exterior and breathtaking interior, which features white walls and ornate, gilded trim together with classical oil paintings and stained glass. However, as fine as St. Nicholas Church appears to the eye, its sound reinforcement has long been profoundly disappointing. Reverberant and boomy acoustics, paired with utterly ineffective audio processing and loudspeaker placement, ensured that St. Nicholas would not be eligible for a spot on the National Registry of Intelligible Places, were such a registry to exist. Recently, Tampa-based A/V integrator CSI used cutting-edge sound reinforcement technology, centered on an Ashly Audio ne8800 DSP with a WR-5 NE remote control and a Bosch steerable Vari-directional Array, to reign in the boom and splash. more

Church on the Hill’s sanctuary

Fishersville, VA – September 2011… In order to better serve its ever-expanding congregation, Church on the Hill recently opened a new building on their campus that includes a sanctuary, classrooms, and office space. Music plays a vital role in their contemporary worship services and, as such, church management recognized the importance of having a capable sound system to reinforce both the spoken word and the music performed during services. To ensure a high level of speech intelligibility and natural sounding music reproduction, the church selected a series of loudspeaker enclosures drawn from the catalog of Greensboro, NC-based WorxAudio Technologies. more
