Church on the Hill’s sanctuary

Fishersville, VA – September 2011… In order to better serve its ever-expanding congregation, Church on the Hill recently opened a new building on their campus that includes a sanctuary, classrooms, and office space. Music plays a vital role in their contemporary worship services and, as such, church management recognized the importance of having a capable sound system to reinforce both the spoken word and the music performed during services. To ensure a high level of speech intelligibility and natural sounding music reproduction, the church selected a series of loudspeaker enclosures drawn from the catalog of Greensboro, NC-based WorxAudio Technologies. more

No ‘Bull’ When It Comes to Using Yamaha PM5D

robert-bull-martina-mcbride-low.jpg

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Monitor Engineer Robert Bull is known for mixing iconic artists such as Martina McBride and Michael McDonald as well as television hits such as “Nashville Star.? Bull has mixed on it all, both analog and digital. But, when it comes to digital, he prefers the Yamaha PM5D.

“I am a diehard analog guy, but there are times when analog is just not feasible, states Bull. “When I use a digital console, I need to have confidence in the gear, which is why I always request a PM5D. I need to get around on the console very quickly in a manner that works for me, and the Yamaha PM5D allows me to do that by having so much of where I need to get to on the mixing surface, that I don’t have to take my eyes off of the stage.?

Bull said that whether doing more

MIAMI, FLORIDA – SEPTEMBER 2011: Located just north of its namesake city in Florida, Miami Country Day School (MCDS) is a private, non-denominational institution that serves 1,100 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. With a deep history and a proven record of providing first-rate educations for its students, the prestigious institution attracts the children of Miami’s performing arts and music celebrities, among others. As a result, the performing arts and music departments have an unusually high bar to meet, a fact that influenced decisions surrounding a recently completed multipurpose amphitheater in the school’s quadrangle. To ensure stunning audio performance and the flexibility to handle both simple and involved productions for a few dozen or up to seven-hundred audience members, a Symetrix Automix Matrix 780 processor serves as the brains for the new amphitheater’s audio system.

Initially, MCDS could only find sound more

WASILLA, ALASKA – SEPTEMBER 2011: At just over 100,000 square feet, the largest public space in the city of Wasilla, Alaska is the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center. It is capable of handling 5,000 visitors, which is a common occurrence at graduations, rallies, and, of course, hockey & indoor football contests. It opened in 2004, but its original sound reinforcement system was so ineffective that the facility had to rent a sound system for every event of consequence. Even then, intelligibility was marginal. The facility recently upgraded to Danley loudspeakers and subwoofers, which, by virtue of their exceptionally well-defined pattern control, minimize the reflections that had doomed all previous solutions to deliver crisp, intelligible sound.

“The original system consisted of four mid-grade horns in the middle of the room supplemented by a collection of 70-volt ceiling speakers,” explained Phil Ballard, principal of Sound Decisions, the firm that designed more

ASHLY AMPLIFIERS AND SYMETRIX PROCESSING OUTPERFORM THE COMPETITION AT POLAND’S GDYNIA MUNICIPAL FOOTBALL STADIUM

gdynia_stadium.JPG

GDYNIA, POLAND – SEPTEMBER 2011: Located in the port city of Gdynia, Poland, the brand new Gdynia Municipal football stadium is home to Arka Gdynia, the city’s legendary football (Americans: read “soccer”) club. The new stadium is a source of civic pride, seating 15,000 in an environment of cheery colors, inviting architecture and modern conveniences. The old stadium, which occupied the same site, sat only a few thousand fans and had an outdated feel, amplified (ironic pun intended) by a grossly underperforming sound system. To complement the refreshing visual aesthetic, a brand new aural aesthetic wraps Gdynia Municipal Football stadium in clear, articulate sound. D.A.S. loudspeakers receive abundant, high-fidelity power from Ashly network-enabled amplifiers, which in turn receive a perfectly processed signal from Symetrix SymNet DSPs.

Piotr Nowinski, systems engineer at Sopot, Mega Music’s Poland-based audio/visual installation division, led the charge at Gdynia. “Another company executed the design for more
