Sennheiser unveils first AVB microphone

Las Vegas, June 13, 2012 – Sennheiser [InfoComm 2012 booth C9736] has chosen the InfoComm show to unveil its first microphone that employs groundbreaking Audio Video Bridging (AVB) technology. The audio specialist is one of the first companies to use this technology in a product, proving that the AVB networking standard is no longer a distant dream.

As a technology leader, Sennheiser has always had a decisive influence on designing the audio world. With the development of the first AVB microphone, the family-owned company is showcasing the application of the new networking standard at this year’s InfoComm in Las Vegas. “We are convinced that AVB will play a major role in the future,” said Sennheiser product manager Kai Tossing. “That’s why we are especially pleased to be able to present the first Sennheiser microphone with AVB technology at this year’s show.”

New technology meets proven audio quality
Sennheiser’s AVB microphone was developed as part of a study. At the moment, it is still a prototype and will not be available in this form as a product in the market. Nevetheless, as the successful outcome of a product study, it proves that Sennheiser’s renowned audio quality can be transmitted into a digital Ethernet network without problems. The microphone also demonstrates that AVB technology already functions as a network technology for tomorrow.

Outline Showcases EIDOS 265 LA Compact Line Array Speakers at InfoComm 2012

Speakers Designed to Work with New FlySub Subwoofer Speaker

LAS VEGAS, JUNE 13, 2012 – Outline, the makers of high quality, industry leading speaker systems for touring, installation and studio applications, showcases the new EIDOS 265 LA Line Array Speakers at InfoComm 2012 (Booth C11549). Designed for small- to medium-sized touring and front of house applications including theater, house of worship and live club installations, the EDIOS 265 LA is an excellent and cost-effective choice for voice amplification, live music reproduction and program material.

“The new Outline EIDOS delivers the sonic quality expected from an Outline product but in a compact form factor and attractive price point,” says Tom Bensen, senior vice-president and managing director of Outline North America. “The engineering challenge was to develop an entry-level line array speaker system that would stand up to the sound quality of a larger system and the EIDOS 265 LA does just that. The speaker system is fully compatible with our new FlySub 15 passive subwoofer and together they deliver a crystal clear, full range sound for smaller venue sound reinforcement applications.”

The EIDOS 265 LA is a passive loudspeaker line array system element. It features two 6.5-inch mid-woofers, each with a 1.75-inch voice coil and ferrite magnet, and one High Frequency (HF) 1.4-inch throat-exit compression driver with a 2.5-inch voice coil. The two mid-woofers are bass-reflex loaded and are housed within the baffle located at the front of the enclosure, creating a semi-direct radiation system. The HF driver is loaded onto the waveguide, which features an acoustic lens specifically designed to obtain perfect summation between HF sections when coupled in an array configuration. The HF assembly is placed between the woofers. This gives a controlled, symmetrical horizontal dispersion (nominally 100-degrees). The vertical dispersion is sufficiently narrow to create a vertical array, but is wide enough to create predictable coverage when used in a ‘curved’ configuration, suggested for this array type.

An internal passive cross-over, utilizing top-grade components, is employed to deftly filter cross-over frequencies between the two active elements. Up to four cabinets can be powered from a single channel of Outline’s T5-DSP power amplifier. Each EIDOS 265 LA speaker has a nominal impedance of eight ohms and can handle up to 500-watts AES and 2000-watts peak. Connection is in the form of two NL4 wired in parallel.

The cabinet is built from high-quality birch plywood and the trapezoidal shape is optimized in order to achieve a very compact size. A sturdy, steel, painted grille, internally covered by sound-transparent foam, provides superior physical protection for the components housed at the front of the system. Four recessed handles facilitate handling and dedicated flight-cases make transportation easy and safe.

“In order to ensure extremely high resistance to stress, corrosion and abrasion, the integrated suspension hardware found on the EIDOS 265 LA is designed using a combination of top quality materials and industrial treatments,” adds Bensen. “The result is a rigging system that is light weight and simple to operate and set up. The angles between the array enclosures are selectable from 0-degrees to 10-degrees, in 1-degree steps, to maximize system coverage and up to sixteen EIDOS 265 LA speakers can be flown in the same array. The light-weight aluminum suspension frame allows the creation of both flown and stacked arrays for system flexibility. If necessary, the array’s low-frequency response can be extended via one or more FLYSUB 15 bass-units to deliver a truly remarkable sonic experience.”

Studio Technologies Showcases New 5100-Series Modules at InfoComm 2012

Units Include Support for SDI Video Generation and Intercom Interfacing

LAS VEGAS, JUNE 13, 2012 – Studio Technologies, the manufacturer of tailored, high-performance video, audio and fiber-optic products for the professional audio, installation and broadcast markets, showcases prototypes of four new products soon to be included in its 5100-Series of broadcast support modules at InfoComm 2012 (Booth C5950). These new units include the Model 5150 Video Generator, Model 5152 Video Generator with Audio Embedding, Model 5162 Video Generator with Audio De-Embedding and Model 5140 Intercom Interface. All units enhance production and delivery options for the education, corporate, worship and broadcast markets.

“The unique aspect of the new video-based products is the ability to store and output a custom high-definition video image at HD-SDI and 3G-SDI rates,” says Gordon Kapes, president of Studio Technologies. “The image, based on a bit-map (BMP) file typically created using a personal computer’s graphics program, is loaded into the modules via a standard USB flash drive memory stick. The image is automatically connected to electrical and optional optical SDI outputs whenever an SDI input signal is not present. This ensures that an SDI output signal is always sent to equipment further along the signal chain. This can be extremely useful, serving both as a ‘keep alive’ signal as well as providing a detailed graphics image for identification purposes.”

The Model 5152, in addition to the Model 5150’s video generation capability, allows four stereo digital audio signals to be embedded into the SDI signal. The eight channels of audio will always be embedded, whether or not an external SDI source is present. The Model 5162 includes video generation as well as de-embedding audio from an incoming SDI signal. The module also provides four stereo digital audio output signals.

The new Model 5140 Intercom Interface will also be displayed. Its unique capabilities provide a unified connection interface for both party-line (PL) and 4-wire (line level) intercom systems, offering a reliable and easy-to-use I/O panel for remote broadcast and infrastructure applications. The Model 5140 was specifically designed to allow “guest” users, including media crews, production or uplink trucks, and temporary equipment, to be quickly and efficiently linked to ports on a host intercom system.

Two input and two output signals, either analog or digital, are typically connected to ports on a facility’s matrix intercom or fiber-optic-based signal transport system. The Model 5140 contains a 4-wire to 2-wire converter and intercom power supply circuitry to provide a 2-channel broadcast-standard party-line intercom interface. This allows users to directly connect PL beltpack devices, as well as interconnection with existing party-line circuits. Two sophisticated auto-null circuits provide excellent audio performance. The Model 5140 also contains two analog 4-wire (line level) inputs and outputs on standard 3-pin XLR connectors. These are provided so that ports on a “guest” intercom system can be directly connected, as well as being compatible with a wide-variety of application-specific equipment. Status indicators and audio level meters help to ensure that optimal performance is maintained.

”All the 5100-Series modules require only a source of 12-volt power for operation and can be mounted in a variety of custom enclosures,” adds Kapes. “The modules should find use in applications including remote sports and entertainment broadcasting, stadium and arena input/output locations and corporate video infrastructure environments. They are designed for standalone use, as well as for connecting directly with other 5100-Series modules for video transport, audio input, audio output, IFB and intercom applications.”

DPA Upgrades Popular 4099 Instrument Mic Series to d:vote™ at InfoComm 2012

Clear-Com Expands Optocore Partnership with Distribution of BroaMan DiViNe V3R-FX-INTERCOM with SDI at InfoComm 2012

Offers Digital Distribution of Audio, Video Data and Intercom Over Fiber

LAS VEGAS, JUNE 13, 2012 ─ Clear-Com®, a global leader in critical voice communication systems, has expanded its partnership with Optocore/BroaMan and will now distribute the new BroaMan DiViNe V3R-FX-INTERCOM with SDI. InfoComm 2012 attendees will have the opportunity to see demonstrations of the DiViNe V3R-FX-INTERCOM with SDI at Clear-Com’s booth (Booth C10345).

Ideal for any setup that requires multiple feeds of high-quality audio, video, data and intercom, the DiViNe V3R-FX-INTERCOM-SDI provides scalable, protocol-independent routing, repeating, transport and distribution of multiple signals over optical fiber. The V3R-FX-INTERCOM-SDI is equipped with (four) four-wire RJ45 matrix ports and (four) four-wire RJ45 panel ports so that either matrices or intercom panels can be connected to the unit using standard CAT cables. Users can send audio and control data from Clear-Com key panels or matrices transparently through the optical network. Video signals from a HD camera situated at the Clear-Com booth will be transported over the fiber cable to the Optocore booth, where a DiViNe V3R-FX-INTERCOM-SDI will be in place that will take the video out to a video monitor. The Optocore booth will also have the ability to control the camera. In addition, Clear-Com’s V-Series panels will be placed at both booths, connected back to a Clear-Com Eclipse Matrix, enabling the Clear-Com and Optocore staff to talk with one another.
