Media Vision USA Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary during InfoComm; Looking back on a Perfect American Journey to Success.

“It took just about ten years for the industry to know we’ve arrived!” said Fardad Zabetian, Founder and CEO of Media Vision USA, as he announced the 10-year anniversary of the company, “Now that the TAIDEN microphones and interpretation systems have become a reference in the conferencing world, Media Vision is ready to take a great leap forward!”

A tremendous growth pace and key contracts signed in the past years have given Fardad Zabetian all the reasons to speak with such confidence. The defining moment being in late 2011, when Media Vision was awarded the contract to provide all congress microphones and simultaneous interpretation systems for the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Since then, opportunities with both the public and the private sectors have surged.

Media Vision USA celebrated its 10-year anniversary during InfoComm 2012 in Las Vegas. The company was founded in June of 2002 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Following the thriving Silicon Valley spirit, Media Vision’s founding history is filled with the flavors of entrepreneurship, risk-taking, hard work and most of all the dreams of an immigrant making it all happen. In 2002, Fardad was a recent immigrant from Iran who had experienced 8-years of the Iran-Iraq war. America gave him a chance to pursue his dreams; starting a company to enhance communication among political figures, administrators, CEO’s and corporate members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

This all-American story wouldn’t be complete without the collaboration of great partners and team members. The first one to join Media Vision was Wesley Sutliff, now a Product Manager. Later came industry experts Patrick Herlihy, based in Washington DC, and David Dunn based in Toronto. “In the past year only, we have hired four people for technical and customer support,” said Fardad Zabetian “We are doing what it takes to ensure that customers keep on receiving the attention and service they demand. For us, business growth and customer-orientation stick together”.

Through the years, Media Vision was also able to maintain a rich company culture based on excellence, diversity and positive attitude. The same values were applied when, in 2006, Media Vision selected TAIDEN of Shenzhen, China, as their manufacturing partner. “At the time, TAIDEN wasn’t a major player in North America; but they already had excellent solutions, dynamic strategies for innovation, and most of all, a management and engineering team willing to give its all to succeed” said Fardad, “With the recent release of the 8300 Paperless Multimedia Conference System, TAIDEN exceeded all our expectations. We are proud to be working with them!”. As a result of a six-year partnership, with Media Vision’s sales and marketing drive, TAIDEN is now the leading brand for conference systems in the United States and Canada.

With the announcement of Media Vision’s anniversary, an apparent excitement animated the entire team. “We’re celebrating!” said Wesley Sutliff “We’ve worked hard, even more through tough economic times, now we all feel rewarded for a job well done. Still, it’s only the beginning”. Wesley continued by describing how overall, working in the niche market for conference systems gets more and more rewarding every day, as you know your products are serving high-profile public figures and key decision-makers. “We are providing all microphones and interpretation systems for the 2012 G-20 Mexico Summit this month. So we are all hoping, as an anniversary gift, to see the TAIDEN mics used by the President of the United States!”

Classic 19th Century Church Merges History and High-Tech

Wilmington, DE, June 2012…  In the middle of the 19th Century, the Industrial Revolution was in full swing, and Wilmington was a booming shipping port and steel town with a rapidly growing working class populace. Founded in 1868 as a “workingman’s church,” Grace United Methodist Church has been a landmark in the heart of downtown Wilmington since well before most of its neighboring structures, earning it a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.

Though the 500 seat sanctuary is not overly large, it’s nonetheless as majestic and impressive as any mega-cathedral. The building’s hand-built stone edifice is a gateway to a soaring 55-foot arched ceiling and a collection of stunningly beautiful stained glass masterpieces.

Grace United Methodist has also gained a reputation throughout the region for its music and musicians, including a highly sought after choir and a resident chamber music ensemble, Mélamonie. As Tony Hersch, President of Pottstown, PA-based Audiobahn, explains, the talent and professionalism of the church’s musicians has gone a long way in setting it apart.

“Many of the singers in their choir are accomplished professionals, and virtually all of them are phenomenally talented, on an operatic level,” says Hersch. “Their director is a highly accomplished pianist and organist, with a doctorate in music, and their performances are always in high demand.”

With such a strong emphasis on music, it’s not surprising that Grace United Methodist Church’s elders and congregation were less reserved than many Methodist congregations in their approach to sound system design. “They were very involved in the process of selecting their new audio system,” says Hersch. “They really did their research and knew what they wanted to accomplish.”

With its vintage lathe and plaster walls, reflectivity has long been a problem in the sanctuary, and spoken word intelligibility was a prime requirement for the new sound system. But musicality was also a critical factor – the system had to deliver full-range performance that could complement the choir and musicians.

The idea of a traditional line array was first suggested, but as Hersch points out, this was a project where a line array would have looked out of place. “Aesthetics are really a consideration in a place like this,” he says. “The architecture is absolutely gorgeous, and hanging a bunch of speaker cabinets would have just destroyed the aesthetic completely. We were suggesting a very different approach.”

Hersch arranged to demo a pair of ENTASYS steerable arrays. “We set up a pair of ENTASYS full-range cabinets on tripods, along with a VLF208 subwoofer to give it some bottom end,” he says. “We ran an EASE program on the room, set things up, and they were just blown away. Everyone in the choir got up and sang through it. We utilized a Shure wireless lavalier system and a Countryman podium mic for the demo. We were able to tune the lav mic to a point where it sounded like a good quality handheld mic. The sound was just wonderful.”

The church also took delivery of one of the first-available Soundcraft SiCompact digital mixing consoles, incorporating it into a new custom-built booth at mix position. The console is connected via MADI to a Pro Tools|HD system. “They record most of their services to two-track as well as multitrack, and then mix and master it for download on their website,” Hersch explains. “The services are very popular.”

To pick up the choir, Hersch provided four Audix MicroBooms on mic stands, while the vintage piano is outfitted with a Helpinstill Piano Pickup System. On the main platform, monitoring is handled by four custom-stained Community iBOX i2w8 cabinets. Community VERIS 8 cabinets provide monitoring for the choir.

Reactions to the new system have been overwhelming, says Hersch. “The ENTASYS sounds fantastic. The sound is focused where it needs to be, and the new system allows them to easily record the service and make it available to others. We’ve taken a church from the early 1800s and incorporated 21st century technology into it.”

Sennheiser Appoints Andrew Kornstein as House of Worship Market Development Manager

New Headsets Offer Better Comfort, Improved Sound Quality and Greater Flexibility

Personalized for Comfortable Fit
Wearing headsets day in and day out while communicating with other team members over the intercom can easily and quickly exhaust a user. The new Clear-Com CC-300 single-ear headset and CC-400 double-ear headset were designed to reduce fatigue and accommodate individual preferences by offering a clear and comfortable audio experience.

The CC-300 and CC-400 headsets’ microphone booms can be rotated 300 degrees, allowing the microphone to be worn on the right or left side of the head. Users can also make the headsets larger or smaller by manipulating the slide adjustments on either side of the headband. In addition, the enclosed headphones have very soft padding and a slight rotation to provide a better fit.

Balanced for High Performance
The CC-300 and CC-400 headsets are equipped with hyper-cardioid dynamic microphones and high ambient-noise attenuation headphones that deliver balanced audio performance to the user. The acoustic isolation capability significantly reduces external background noise and with a clear audio profile, including an up to 20-kHz frequency response, the new headsets are made for professionals who demand high-quality sound.

Flexibility for Operational Convenience
The CC-300 and CC-400 headset microphones can be turned on and off by moving the microphone boom. Users need only to pull the boom gently downwards to turn on the microphone and push the boom gently upwards to turn it off, in effect giving them a quick and simple mute to their intercom system.

Interchangeable cabling is another major benefit of the CC-300 and CC-400 headsets. Both headsets come with a standard four-pin female connector, but users can easily change the cable and connector at the base of the headset by using a Phillips screwdriver in order to accommodate different connector types. The same process can be used to repair and replace a damaged cable on the fly.
