Community Redefines the Column Line-Array – AGAIN

Chester, PA, June 2012…

Community’s new ENTASYS 200 redefines performance for small format column line array loudspeakers by utilizing a two-way design, complex frequency shaded LF crossover networks, and the proprietary “ENTASYS” convex-curve HF to provide unrivaled intelligibility, output, and consistent beamwidth up to 16kHz.

ENTASYS 200 is a versatile family of attractive, affordable, easy-to-install two-way column line-array loudspeakers for indoor and outdoor use.  There are four ENTASYS 200 models ranging from the smaller ENT203 and ENT206, designed for delay fill and confined spaces, to the larger ENT212, and the extended-length ENT220, tall enough to provide solid control of the LF beamwidth without the need for additional columns or external LF extensions. All four models have well-controlled and consistent dispersion characteristics, minimizing the reflections that hinder intelligibility and performance. ENTASYS 200 loudspeakers have the sonic definition, intelligibility, and output needed to directly replace point-and-shoot loudspeakers in many applications.

Usable both indoors and out, each ENTASYS 200 model can fulfill an exceptionally wide range of applications. All models include a 70V / 100V internal low-distortion autoformer for constant-voltage applications and a pan-and-tilt mounting bracket.

Like the original groundbreaking three-way ENTASYS column, the new ENTASYS 200 loudspeakers are attractively designed in an architectural compact shape and can be ordered in black or white finishes. The durable polymer enclosure may easily be painted by the installer to match specific room décor.

Community’s highly-advanced crossover technology and proprietary physical driver design provide the same consistent, non-narrowing beamwidth control first found in the original ENTASYS. The two larger ENTASYS 200 models also employ multi-way LF frequency shading to achieve low-frequency pattern control and consistently wide midrange vertical beamwidths. All models benefit from excellent intelligibility while maintaining exceptionally flat phase and frequency response. For a detailed description of the unique benefits of the ENTASYS 200 line, please visit www.communitypro.com.

PESA Unveils HDcctv-Compliant Routing Switcher at InfoComm 2012

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading U.S.-based custom design and build manufacturing company for professional audio and video signal distribution, will introduce its new HDcctv 32×16 routing switcher at InfoComm 2012 (Booth N1327), which runs June 13-15 in Las Vegas, Nev.Designed specifically for the HD CCTV market, it is fully compliant with the HDcctv Alliance™ high definition video interface standard for security and surveillance systems.

Using a single RG-59 coax cable for each port, users can connect up to 32 HDcctv-compliant video cameras to the PESA HDcctv matrix switch and output up to 16 individual coax connections for HDcctv DVR or display devices. Unlike IP-based switches and hubs using a distributed 10 Gbps backbone, the HDcctv 32×16 allocates a dedicated 1.5 Gbps transport for each device connected to the router.

All inputs are auto-equalized and outputs reclocked to transmit 720p25/30, 720p50/60, or 1080p25/30 video resolutions up to 300 feet. Two independent reference inputs allow easy selection of genlock from black burst or a tri-level sync source.

“Today’s video security customers are looking to upgrade their legacy CCTV systems to high-quality video imaging components,” said Dan Holland, PESA vice president of product marketing. “HDcctv products, such as our new 32×16 matrix switch, allow system installers a quick and easy way of expanding security system performance without compromising on image quality, worrying about IP video latency, or spending hours learning how to setup a network management system. HDcctv works just like traditional analog CCTV systems, but offers high definition video performance at a cost effective price point.”

Housed in a compact 1 RU frame with a front load, hot-swappable matrix card, the HDcctv 32×16 offers an optional redundant power supply and control card. It provides control interfaces for PESA’s Ethernet control system or can be configured to support many third-party control systems. Plus, theHDcctv 32×16 supports an optional local pushbutton control panel, up to 80 remote control panels, or control via a unique PESA software-based soft-panel.

Founded in 2009, the nonprofit HDcctv Alliance develops and manages the technical interface specification for HDcctv, which was developed from broadcast industry standards and specialized for surveillance needs. The industry association promotes the adoption of HDcctv-compliant products and provides education for equipment manufacturers and their customers. The world’s first HDcctv-compliant routing switcher, the HDcctv 16×16, was introduced by PESA in late 2011.

Barix Expands Annuncicom Product Range

New low-cost, reliable VoIP and IP Audio devices optimize features and functionality for universal applications

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, June 7, 2012Barix has successfully marketed its two-way Annuncicom IP audio and SIP/VoIP devices around the world, bringing bidirectional audio streaming and control solutions to various markets within the commercial, entertainment, private sector and residential worlds.

Barix now builds on that success with the introduction of two new Annuncicom devices at InfoComm 2012 (June 13-15, Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth C11722) that are priced to compete in large-volume projects and applications.

The new Annuncicom 50 is built specifically for OEM applications. Barix is now shipping to OEM partners, including a key player in the education and classroom automation market. The device delivers Barix’s trademark rock-solid reliability, open standards design and multi-format audio capability at a very low cost for OEM customers.

Furthermore, Barix breaks new ground with the Annuncicom 60, a universal, programmable and ultra-compact device that offers the industry’s lowest cost today for reliable IP encoding and decoding. The small form factor is roughly 40 percent the size of existing Annuncicom devices, which are already renowned for offering a compact footprint to systems integrators and end users.

In simple terms, the Annuncicom 60 is an ideal single-zone paging interface device that can decode VoIP codecs as well as MP3, AACplus and PCM audio. Its inclusion of a built-in speaker amplifier, balanced line output and microphone interfaces, serial and contact closure control interfaces, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support is unique to the market — delivering universal functionality at a competitive price.

“The Annuncicom 60 brings full-fledged functionality for low-cost paging and intercom while providing the high audio quality and format flexibility required for background music systems,” said Johannes G. Rietschel, CEO and founder of Barix AG. “With advanced capabilities like built-in, efficient amplification and PoE support to simplify installation, the Annuncicom 60 is ideally positioned to support the continuously growing number of IP Audio applications.”

The Annuncicom 60 enables striking cost and technical advantages for applications suited for many markets:
• Reduces cost of entry for Barix IP intercom applications by at least 25 percent
• Reduces high quality microphone encoder costs by at least 25 percent, whether for technical or security-related audio surveillance; or classroom lecture audio capture
• VoIP and MP3/AACplus audio decoding capabilities enable merging of paging and background music applications
• Lowest cost balanced output audio decoder solution for “mono” output applications (paging gateways, AM radio stations, etc.)

The Annuncicom 60 is also the lowest priced IP audio product from Barix to feature a symmetric output, making it suitable for in-store audio and general audio distribution applications requiring a 600-ohm balanced output. The 5W amplifier, when combined with an efficient 8-Ohm speaker, provides enough power for a typical room, hallway, lobby or classroom — making it ideal for single room paging zones and audio “help points” in retail stores and visitor attractions, for example.

Community Loudspeakers Command Sound at West Point’s Johnson Stadium

West Point, NY, June 2012…   Visitors to Johnson Stadium at Doubleday Field in West Point, NY – home to the Army’s Black Knights baseball team – are sure to be impressed by the recent renovations to the historic venue. Located in the heart of this renowned  United States Military campus, the stadium boasts stunning views of the nearby Hudson River and the scenic campus.

The stadium remodeling project, intended to improve the stadium’s technology without altering its architecture, included the installation of a new scoreboard and video display, a state-of-the-art press box, and new stadium-wide sound system.

Thomas DePace, CTS of Advance Sound Company, the Farmingdale-based audio visual consultant that designed and installed the new audio system, explains why he selected Community’s R-Series Loudspeakers for this project.

“West Point is in a unique geographical location on the Hudson River which mixes both salt and fresh water,” says DePace. “That combination can be quite challenging when you’re designing a system that you expect to last for years to come. The Community R-Series speakers are designed to withstand the elements.”

The new system includes Community R.25 and R.5 two-way, full-range, weather-resistant  loudspeakers, black powder coated to coordinate with the Black Knights color scheme. The loudspeakers are pole-mounted approximately 30 feet high using Adaptive Technologies’ Pole Mount Solution. The tight cluster design allows sound to be directed at the baseline stands, backstop and surrounding areas, as well as the field.

“We wanted great intelligibility in close range as well as far range patterns,” DePace explains. “We had to use wider beam patterns because the concessions, ticket booths and bullpens are located outside of the stadium, and we wanted to ensure people in those areas still feel like they are part of the game.”

The system also includes a Shure SCM800 mixer, with DSP covered by Biamp Nexia and Crown Audio CDI series amplifiers to allow for individualized zone level controls.

“West Point is immensely happy with the result of the installation,” DePace says. “It looks nice and clean, and the power and sound quality is what one would expect when attending a United States Army event.”
