3D Now Theater Easily Converts Any 2D HD Display to Stunning 3D Experience

3D Now LLC is proud to introduce 3D Now Theater, the world’s first External 3D Processor for 2D TV’s and Projectors. The 3D Now Theater is a non-anaglyphic frame-sequential stereoscopic processor that generates a true, high quality 3D viewing experience up to 1080p resolution on almost any 2D display, including those that operate at only 50-60hz.

“Everyone wants to enjoy a great 3D experience from the comfort of their home, but most people don’t want to invest in a new 3D-ready flat panel display or projector,” said Doug Smith, director of sales for 3D Now. “3D Now Theater is the perfect installation solution for easily adding a true 3D component to an existing home entertainment setup.”

3D Now Theater plays 3D content from virtually any 3D-enabled source, including Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, cable and satellite, the internet and more, in stunning 1080p resolution–all for the fraction of the price of replacing a users existing 2D TV or projector. The applications for 3D Now Theater are unlimited and it’s so easy to setup, users could disconnect it in minutes and take to a friend’s house to watch a 3D movie or TV broadcast or play at 3D game.

To achieve “instant 3D”, 3D Now Theater utilizes 3D Now’s proprietary frame interleaving with active shutter technology. 3D Now’s system integrates the latest 3D standards and is far superior to either the passive shutter or the older anaglyphic technologies – used in alternative products. Passive technology skips every second line of the frame in the processing thus delivering a lesser quality picture while the anaglyphic format does not store the color schemes in the processing degrading the picture quality. 3D Now’s active shutter technology is the most advanced technology and delivers a true stereoscopic 3D viewing that doesn’t derogate the original source.

The 3D Now Theater recognizes over 26 different 3D formats and is upgradeable via firmware updates should any future 3D formats become available.

High quality 3D performance is also achieved thanks to 3D Now’s Active Shutter RF Eyewear. Unlike competitive IR eyewear, the 3D Now Eyewear allows the viewer to turn his or her head without losing synchronization, achieving a smooth, continuous 3D presentation. Critical to maintaining the qualities of the original content, the 3D Now Eyewear features high contrast ratio, high uniformity and fast response time. The 3D Now Eyewear is comfortable to wear and large enough to wear comfortably even over prescription glasses.

The 3D Now Theater processor will be available through authorized dealers and retailers beginning in early Spring 2012.

3D Now will showcase the new 3D Now Theater at Stand #11F70 at 2012 Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), held January 31-February 2, 2012 in Amsterdam.

Extron Now Shipping Newly-Designed 7-inch Configurable TouchLink Touchpanels

Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of three, newly designed 7-inch touchpanels. The TLP 710MV, TLP 710TV, and TLP 710CV are fully configurable, 7-inch touchpanels featuring contemporary designs that complement the aesthetics of any environment. Each TLP 710 Series touchpanel has an 800×480 resolution touchscreen and incorporates PoE – Power over Ethernet, which eliminates the need for a local power supply. For enhanced AV connectivity, each model also has a built-in MTP – Twisted Pair receiver, which accepts either S-video or composite video signals over standard CAT 5 cable. This provides integration flexibility and aids in cable management by minimizing the number of connections at the touchpanel. The TLP 710MV mounts on a wall, lectern, or other flat surface, while The TLP 710TV is designed to sit on a tabletop or install on a VESA mount. The TLP 710CV is the industry’s first flip-up 7-inch touchpanel and can be mounted into a tabletop, lectern, or other flat surface. All of these touchpanels are ideal for control environments requiring a 7-inch control surface within an elegant touchpanel design.

“The TLP 710 Series has the same sophisticated look and features as our larger TLP 1000 Series touchpanels, but in a slightly smaller package,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “These are perfect for control environments requiring a compact touchpanel with flexible connectivity and a full complement of control features.”

GUI Configurator software makes touchpanel configuration easy, without the need for additional graphics programs. This software offers ready-to-use templates for single display rooms, dual display rooms, divisible rooms, multi-image systems, and video conference suites. These designs may be used as is, or customized for the application by simply changing individual graphic elements.

The TLP 710 Series works in conjunction with any Extron IP Link® control processor, such as the Extron IPCP 505 Control Processor. They are designed for use in AV system applications that require complete, interactive control of conferencing systems, displays, switchers, and source devices. The touchpanels and IP Link control processors communicate using a standard Ethernet network, allowing utilization of existing infrastructure.

Compact Manhattan Pub Gets Big Sound with Renkus-Heinz

New York, NY – December 2011… The Pig ‘n’ Whistle in midtown Manhattan is typical of many of the area’s taverns. What the narrow storefront space lacks in width, it more than makes up for in depth and height, spanning two floors and extending far to the back of the building it occupies.

“It’s only about 25 feet wide, but it’s more than 75 feet deep, and there’s an open veranda and dining area upstairs, with a high open ceiling,” says Rich Trombitas of Cornwall-based Cardone Solomon & Associates Inc.

“It’s a beautiful place,” says Trombitas. “The architecture is just stunning, the finish and detail looks wonderful. But sonically it’s very challenging. The stage is located on the second level, and particularly on Friday and Saturday nights when they have Irish bands and DJs in there, the noise level can be a real challenge.”

The main floor is served by three wall-mounted TRX82 two-way cabinets per side, with low frequency coverage augmented by a PNX212 subwoofer mounted in a closet, as well as an SGX-12S sub concealed at the end of a banquet seating area. The second level veranda and dining area is covered by six SGX61 compact two-way boxes, with a second SGX12S sub. The system was installed by Rego Park, NY-based Starview Satellite.

The system design was further complicated by architectural changes during the construction phase that limited the number of viable locations for speaker mounting. “We were originally going to go with six TRX81 cabinets per side, but we replaced them with three of the TRX82s,” says Trombitas. “It’s a longer cabinet, with two 8-inch woofers. They turned out to be perfect for the application, because you’ve got 120 degree coverage that’s uniform throughout the entire listening area. You can walk all the way from the front to the back and the coverage is nice and even.”

Despite the architectural challenges, Trombitas says the end result was a great success. “The owners love the system,” he says. “They’re getting good quality background music during the day, and high-impact performance with great vocal sound at night for DJs and live shows. It sounds great on both floors, with no feedback issues.”

Prism Projection Introduces Next Generation RevEAL Studio Fresnel at LDI 2011

Prism Projection, Inc. will be offering attendees at LDI 2011 the opportunity to see the next generation of lighting technology with not only a product launch but also a head to head comparison of source technologies. With the launch of the third generation RevEAL Studio Fresnel 3 (SF3) Prism expands their multi-award winning RevEAL line of products by offering designers yet another way to use LED technology as their primary source within a familiar fixture format. Another highlight of the Prism booth (#1519) will be the head to head comparison of the popular RevEAL Profile luminaire with an ETC Source Four 750-Watt ellipsoidal. Stop in and see why so many designers consider the RevEAL Profile a true ‘go to’ option for primary illumination.

“Many lighting designers consider the 750-Watt Source Four as a benchmark when comparing lights,” notes Garrett Young, President and Founder of Prism Projection, Inc. “During the show, we will give attendees the opportunity to see the Source Four alongside our RevEAL Profile, which we consider to be the future of framing profile spotlights. It has the output of traditional sources at a fraction of the power consumption, while still providing designers with beam-shaping shutters and edge-to-edge crisp projections coupled with high color rendering and excellent output.”

Many designers have quickly embraced the RevEAL Profile, which has received multiple awards throughout the industry, including the Best Debuting Product in the Lighting Category at last year’s LDI. The RevEAL Profile is a true high-CRI, LED Profile Spot with a lumen output of 16,000 lumens, a variable Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) range of 2,800–6,500K, an adjustable focus from hard to a very soft edge, changeable lenses for beam angles from 14º–70º, and a flat field. It also has four shutters on a tri-plane; accepts M-size gobos; uses DMX, Art-Net, or local control; and features a universal power input of 90–260V AC.prism-reveal-studio-barndoors.jpg

Debuting at LDI this year, is Prism’s new Studio Fresnel 3, with an output of 7,600 lumens and a Color Rendering Index (CRI) > 92, offers the ability to get clean cuts with standard barndoors and a wider range of beam angle adjustment—from a very narrow 8° to an extra wide 70°. The SF3 uses a manual zoom focus mechanism to smoothly and easily go from spot to flood. “We’ve been able to reduce the source size to enable the SF3 to work with the barndoor as well as allow for the tighter spot without any loss in output from the previous two models, adds Young.” Both the SF1 and SF2 will still be available in the Prism RevEAL line alongside the SF3 giving people the choice of the right tool for their particular application.

The SF3 reacts to the cuts and shaping of barndoors the same as a conventional Fresnel fixture and is the same form factor as a traditional 8” Fresnel. With a total power draw of 250-Watts, the SF3 is brighter than a 1kW Fresnel with a tungsten source. The RevEAL Studio Fresnels provide high lumen output, unparalleled color rendering, tunable CCT from 2,800–8,000K, a wide color palette with repeatability, and beam quality guaranteed by TrueSource® color management technology.

“We wanted to give lighting designers the ability to use our products in a similar manner that they are used to working,” says Young. “With the design of the SF3, we built on the accomplishments of the previous Studio Fresnel models and added in the ability to work seamlessly with a standard barndoor in shaping the beam. We were also able to engineer a tighter spot focus going from the previous narrow spot of 20° now down to an 8° spot.”
Both the RevEAL Studio Fresnel 3 and the RevEAL Profile will be demonstrated alongside the multi-award winning RevEAL Color Wash luminaire. Also be sure to come in for the head to head comparison of the RevEAL Profile to the ETC Source Four taking place each day in Prism’s booth #1519 at LDI.
