ASHLY AUDIO’S KLR AMPLIFIERS A HIT AT NYC’S NEWEST HOTSPOT – TAMMANY HALL

tammany_hall.JPG

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – APRIL 2011: Like a self-assured CEO of a Fortune 500 company walking into the PTA meeting at their kid’s school, Tammany Hall recently opened on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and immediately asserted itself as a formidable player in the local music scene. Its owners have created a number of successful clubs in New York City and across the country, most notably Crash Mansion, also on the LES. Tammany Hall delivers a wide selection of excellent beers and mixed drinks across three floors: an upstairs balcony, a prohibition-style basement lounge, and a main room with a generous stage. The owners gutted and rebuilt the interior to distance Tammany Hall from the space’s previous long-term resident, The Annex. Similarly, they hired Paul Bell of PBell Sound to completely redesign the new club’s sound system. Bell relied on Ashly Audio’s new high-power, low-cost KLR-Series amplifies, as well as more

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NEW YORK – APRIL 2011: Sterling Winfield gained notoriety and respect early in his career for his contribution to Pantera’s 1994, Grammy-nominated release, Far Beyond Driven. He’s been on the first-call list ever since, and his production and engineering work with Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Pantera, Damageplan, Hellyeah, and many others has earned his work four Grammy-nominations, two RIAA-certified platinum releases, and five RIAA-certified gold releases. Among his favorite tools is Metric Halo’s ChannelStrip plug-in, both for its decidedly “undigital” sound and for its inspiration-fueling workflow. He used ChannelStrip prodigiously on Hellyeah’s recent Stampede, which debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 in July of 2010.

Not surprisingly, the vocals of Mudvayne frontman Chad Gray capture the listener’s attention on Stampede, and Winfield was careful to record it to maximal effect. Depending on how melodic or growling a particular lyric was, Winfield used one of two more

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NEW YORK: Adrian Belew is a guitar virtuoso without peer. The flame of his long career, which produced enduring magic with Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, and David Bowie in front of thirty years at the head of foundational progressive rock band King Crimson, burns as brightly now as it ever has. Respected for his ability to produce tones and sounds with a guitar that bear no resemblance to the instrument’s usual output, Belew draws crowds around the world with his independent work. He recently completed a home studio, centered on a pair of eight-channel Metric Halo ULN-8 interfaces with studio-grade mic preamps, where he is currently recording his forthcoming album.

The re-engineered lunchbox boasts many improvements, including an increased power supply current of 215mA per slot, the addition of DB-25 connectors for easy input and output connection and XLR access to channels 7 and 8 of the multi-pins. The revamped lunchbox also provides individual power rail LED indication and re-settable fuses on the power rail of each slot, so that one faulty module will not affect the others.
