Recording Industry Leaders Acknowledge ADAM SX Series Monitors

Anaheim, CA––TEC award winning studio designer and architect John Storyk and multi-platinum record producer Michael Wagener recently hailed the most sophisticated expression of ADAM Audio’s technology, the SX Series.
Storyk, whose 40-year design career spans everything from Electric Lady Studios to the studios at Jazz At Lincoln Center and audio production facilities for many of the Art Institutes across the country said, “Clarity and accuracy are the words I’d use to describe ADAM and the SX Series. Plus there’s a family of speakers where the translation from smaller to larger models is comfortable and seamless.
“Customer support from ADAM has always been very good, as is their quality control,? he added. “When we specify their speakers, they always arrive as advertised, which is important for commercial style installs such as the Art Institutes.?

Rycote to design custom shock mounts for Milab Microphones

Milab SRND 360 with the new Rycote mount

Helsingborg, Sweden/Stroud, UK – Milab Microphones is proud to announce a collaboration with Rycote, the British manufacturer of industry-standard microphone windshields and suspensions. The first fruit of this closer working relationship is a custom version of the Rycote InVision USM (Universal Studio Mount) suspension for the Milab SRND 360 surround microphone, and further Milab-specific Rycote products are currently at the design stage.

To fit the large 60mm barrel of the Milab SRND 360, Rycote designed a modified version of the USM — the standard version accommodates any large-diaphragm microphone from 18 to 55mm in diameter.

At the heart of the USM, the microphone mounting ring is acoustically decoupled from the rest of the suspension by the use of Rycote’s patented vibration-resistant Lyre clips. Made from a non-elasticated thermoplastic which can be bent more

Studio 108 Collaborates With Burford Advertising On An Innovative Cross-Platform Campaign For Childsavers

The Four Spots Integrate a Seamless Bridge From A Tradition Broadcast Commercial
To A Web Spot That Delivers A Long-Form Documentary-Style Story

Recentlyh Studio 108, the full-service production, editorial, and audio company, joined forces with Burford Advertising to create an inventive series of two-part, cross-platform spots for Childsavers, a non-profit dedicated to helping children with developmental and emotional issues.

The idea was very innovative,? notes Studio 108 director, Jack Hartmann. “The first component is a TV spot that sets up a story about a child facing a specific challenge – such as dealing with the loss of a parent, abuse, etc. Then, at the end of the TV spot the viewer is prompted to go to childsavers.org to see the rest of the story. The long-form website spot opens with the TV commercial, and then continues – in the same documentary style – following the child’s more

Audinate’s Dante on Peter Gabriel New Blood, Scratch My Back Tour

Portland, OR.- November 23, 2010

O2 Arena

-The Peter Gabriel “New Blood, Scratch My Back Tour? is nothing less than spectacular. For this tour it’s only Peter, and a 54 piece orchestra. No drums, no guitars. Peter and the New Blood Orchestra performed cover songs to sellouts at amphitheaters and arenas throughout Europe this spring and fall. It’s easy to understand why Peter and his artistic style keep gaining popularity over all these years. From a tour production standpoint, it’s also easy to see why Audinate’s popular digital media networking technology Dante™, was chosen by Brit Row Productions.

Because of the complexities of delivering an even orchestral sound to large arena audiences, a number of finely controlled zones were required. Richard Sharrat, FOH engineer for the tour, used 9 sends from the Digico SD-7 to Dante enable products. In order to more

LITHIA, FLORIDA: Fishhawk Fellowship Church (FFC) brings a contemporary worship style to its 400-seat sanctuary and a welcoming attitude that has drawn together a devout community of worshipers from the Tampa suburb of Lithia, Florida. Like so many mid-sized churches, FFC went in for a “one size fits all” sound system many years ago that, predictably, would have been more truthfully described as a “doesn’t fit at all” sound system. FFC called on Christian Sound Installation (CSI), a Tampa-based AV design and installation firm to remedy their woes. CSI in turn called on a full complement of Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers, subwoofers, stage monitors, amplifiers, and DSP to deliver coverage that is uniform, audible-range fidelity that is musical, and bass that warms the soul.

“They were having all kinds of problems with the old system. It was a mess,” said Paul Garner, founder and president of more

IOWA CITY, IOWA: The Union Bar in Iowa City, Iowa is the biggest bar in the Big Ten Conference and the weekly scene of parties that consistently earn The Union Bar a spot on Playboy’s list of hottest parties in the USA. DJs from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York City regularly fly to Iowa City to host the parties front-and-center from the dance floor’s stage, a stage now both flanked by high-fidelity, abundantly-powerful Danley loudspeakers and moved, literally, by a pack of beefy Danley subwoofers. Apart from the dramatically improved fidelity, which no longer causes patrons to equate “loud” with “painful,” the well-behaved pattern control of the Danley boxes allowed owner/operator George Wittgraf to direct sound away from the bar itself, making it easy for bartenders to hear drink orders where it used to be an often-unsuccessful scream-fest.

“The old system was loud in the worst way more

ATLANTA, GEORGIA: With a 1,500-seat sanctuary, energetic R&B and gospel music, and a popular live Internet stream of its services, audio-visual systems are critical to the success of West End Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Yet the state of its A/V systems left huge “holes” of coverage, vastly underpowered bass response, and many areas – including the entire balcony – where speech was only marginally intelligible. On top of this, visual support – in the form of screens and cameras – was of noticeably low resolution. Gainesville Georgia’s dB Audio & Video gutted both the audio and visual systems, retaining and repurposing many items to help the church’s money stretch as far as possible, and put a new system in place centered on Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers and subwoofers.

Motivated by budgetary constraints and buoyed by the well-intentioned help of volunteers, West End walked a familiar path. Over more

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NEW YORK: Iconic indie-rock band Modest Mouse gained its near-legendary status just outside of pop music’s burning spotlight with a series of convention-breaking albums and a rigorous touring schedule that exposed its music to new fans. Despite selling over three million albums to date, the band is still very much in control of its creative destiny, and Modest Mouse concerts have taken on a mystique that draws hundreds of thousands to arenas and festivals during every tour. The band’s production manager and FOH engineer Philip Harvey (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs) fights to balance the tortuous logistics of his first job with the aesthetic rewards of his second job. He counts on Metric Halo’s SpectraFoo audio analysis software to quickly dial in the right balance at soundcheck and to diagnose any real-time problems during the show. He utilizes a Metric Halo ULN-8 interface, integrated with more
