The RapcoHorizon Company Rips Up the Stage and Raffles Off an i-JAM at Warped Tour 2012

Phoenix-Based blessthefall Rocks with RapcoHorizon Microphone, Instrument and Patch Cables, in addition to the i-JAM 3-n-1 Smartphone Interface

ST. LOUIS, MO, JULY 12, 2012 ― The RapcoHorizon Company (Summer NAMM 2012, Booth 411), a leading manufacturer of audio/video interfacing and cable equipment, is jamming with blessthefall on the Monster Energy Stage at Warped Tour 2012. With five shows per week at tour stops throughout the United States and Canada, from June 16 to August 5, the Phoenix-based band is putting the RapcoHorizon microphone, instrument and patch cables to the extreme touring test. Additionally, Eric Lambert, the band’s stage-right guitarist, relies on the company’s i-JAM 3-n-1 Smartphone Interface during every performance. The band, one of the RapcoHorizon endorsed artists, also raffled off one i-JAM at the St. Louis tour stop. Blessthefall fan, Clint Bowman, went home a winner.

Similar to the company’s i-BLOX, the i-JAM 3-n-1 serves as an audio interface that connects an instrument to iPhone applications. During warm ups, Lambert utilizes the unit’s built-in amplifier to render the amplification of his guitar without additional equipment. Whenever applicable, he can also use the unit to create recordings of his performances. “I love how convenient the i-JAM is,” says Lambert. “I can keep it in my rack and pull it out right before we go on to start warming up.”

In addition to Lambert’s use of the i-JAM, the five members of the band rely on RapcoHorizon RoadHog cables each night. Despite being used non-stop during the five weekly performances of the Warped tour, the RapcoHorizon cables have yet to hit their limit. “The RapcoHorizon Company produces great-quality gear that makes it possible for us to perform without any worries,” states Lambert. “It’s also great to have access to a company that is such an avid supporter of local musicians.”

blessthefall is an American post-hardcore band from Phoenix, currently signed to Fearless Records. Founded in 2003 by guitarist Mike Frisby, drummer Matt Traynor and bassist Jared Warth, the band was formed during high school practice sessions. Today, blessthefall consists of five members, including Lambert, Traynor and Warth. Other members are front-man Beau Bokan and Elliott Gruenberg, who recently replaced Frisby on guitar. The band’s third studio album, Awakening, was released in October 2011.

The Warped Tour is a music and extreme sports festival, sponsored by skateboard shoe manufacturer Vans, with stops throughout all of North America. Created in 1994 by Kevin Lyman, the tour began as a showcase for punk rock music, but has more recently favored a diversity of genres. To add to the complicated audio requirements, each stop of the tour is held in parking lots and fields, where stages and other structures must be built each time.

The RapcoHorizon Company, located in Jackson, Missouri, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of audio, video, home theater, data and telecommunications cable in both bulk wire and assemblies. Used worldwide by concert touring sound companies, video and sound contractors, recording studios, system integrators, audiophiles and musicians, The RapcoHorizon Company’s products provide optimal flexibility and premium performance. French Broadcast Leader TF1 Chooses Chyron for Branding of LCI News Channel

LONDON — July 11, 2012 — France’s number one broadcaster, TF1, has installed Chyron’s Ticker Tool — a solution driven by Chyron’s Channel Box² graphics branding and promo technology — to provide channel branding for LCI, the network’s popular 24-hour news channel. At LCI, the newly developed Ticker Tool drives creation of all channel brand elements including clock, logos, and tickers for weather, stocks, and news headlines.

“We needed a significant upgrade to our graphics presentations in order to stay competitive in our market,” said Olivier Tremon, head of internal production at TF1. “The Chyron solution has proven to be an excellent choice at LCI, providing state-of-the-art channel branding and animation capabilities as well as up-to-the-minute ticker information that our operators can easily manage and modify.”

The Chyron Ticker Tool offers a user-friendly interface for LCI to generate tickers and populate them with rolling content from third-party data sources for weather, stock prices, sports results, and other current and rapidly changing information. For stories automatically built and updated from external data sources, such as stock market data, the Ticker Tool provides spellchecking, cut-and-paste from third-party applications, and the ability to edit stories and modify layouts in a word-processing environment. Bin-and-sequence windows enable operators to build and reorder sequences simply by dragging and dropping them from the bin, a time-saving capability especially useful when inserting breaking news information.

“TF1 is a household name in France and one of the most influential broadcasters in Europe, so we were honored when the network chose Chyron to provide channel branding for the popular LCI news channel,” said Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales at Chyron.

Chyron dealer MagicHour provided support for the implementation of the Ticker Tool and Channel Box² solution installed in the main TF1 broadcasting facility in Paris.

The RapcoHorizon Company Provides Reliable Audio for Cain’s Ballroom

TULSA, OK, JUNE 13, 2012 – The RapcoHorizon Company (InfoComm 2012, Booth C11619), a leading manufacturer of audio/video interfacing and cable equipment, has been chosen as the exclusive snake and cable provider for Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a 20-year relationship with RapcoHorizon, Cain’s recently selected a custom rack-mount Venue splitter snake, Concert Series sub snakes and RoadHog microphone and monitor cables to provide the ultimate in sound quality for the 1,700-person-capacity venue.

Ranked by CNN as one of the “Top 10 Fabulous U.S. Music Venues,” Cain’s Ballroom began its musical history as a ballroom dance venue in the 1930s. Today, it is primarily utilized as a concert hall, hosting as many as 20 performances each month. With concerts by artists in a myriad of genres—from rock and country to heavy metal—the venue relies on its RapcoHorizon gear for flexibility and durability.

“With so many different types of musicians using the gear, our cables take a lot of abuse,” says Russell Law, III, house engineer for Cain’s Ballroom. “I really like the jackets on the XLRs – they’re reliable and that’s the main goal I was looking to achieve.”

The RapcoHorizon RoadHog XLR cables in use at Cain’s offer a unique design for the working musician, as their rugged construction does not sacrifice sound quality. The outer jackets are made of durable yet flexible PVC. The cables’ pure copper conductors and shields provide a superior sound and reliable operation, night after night. With as many as 12 mixes during any given show, Law relies on the RapcoHorizon cables to send audio to the monitors, which ensures clarity of tone. Law relies on the Extras are kept on hooks backstage, in case the setup calls for additional cables. The RoadHog microphone cables run audio to the various Shure and Sennheiser microphones. All of the RoadHog cables guarantee a clear, crisp tone in a rugged casing.

Given the abundance of RapcoHorizon cables in use, Law relies on RapcoHorizon’s custom rack-mount Venue splitter snake and Concert Series sub snakes to ensure a neat, organized stage. RapcoHorizon’s Venue Series, the company’s highest quality product, offers the best construction of cable and premium connectors. The Concert Series is a premium quality product line, which provides a unique construction of cables and connectors manufactured with pure copper conductors and braided shields, coupled with top-brand connectors. All custom RapcoHorizon snakes are hand soldered and individually tested to ensure performance, frequency response and durability.

“The wide variety of RapcoHorizon equipment being used ensures that musicians at Cain’s Ballroom are afforded dependable performance and resilience during every show,” says Lucas McCulley, marketing and artist relations at RapcoHorizon.

Built in 1924 by Tulsa entrepreneur Tate Brady, Cain’s Ballroom transitioned from a garage to a dime-a-dance joint and dance academy started by Madison W. “Daddy” Cain in 1930. The building was sold and refurbished in 1976 before reopening with the current name, Cain’s Ballroom. Since then, the venue has become well known for being one of the top performance venues in the world—having earned distinctions not only from CNN but also by Yahoo as one of “10 Great Places to See a Show.” Pollstar also ranked the venue as number 26 worldwide for ticket sales at club venues. Some notable artists who have graced the stage at Cain’s Ballroom include Snoop Dogg, The Band Perry, Matisyahu, Switchfoot, Flogging Molly, Coheed and Cambria, Smashing Pumpkins and Sugar Ray. Grammy-winning artist Bon Iver performed at the venue on June 2, 2012.

Clark Expands HFC Series of SMPTE Hybrid Fiber Camera Cables

Clark Wire & Cable™, NAB Booth #C8137, is introducing an improved and expanded line of its HFC Series of SMPTE 311M hybrid fiber camera cables. Designed as a turn-key solution for broadcast camera systems, Clark’s HFC Series now includes three distinct products for portable, permanent installation and direct burial applications – all with high-strength core constructions.

Clark’s original HFCTP studio and field SMPTE 311M camera cable has been improved for both greater durability and flexibility. Now featuring tactical-grade tight buffers, the new HFCTP fiber elements have three times the tensile strength for added ruggedness. For improved flexibility, the outer jacket of the HFCTP utilizes a new TPE jacket compound that is abrasion resistant and exceptionally flexible, even in low temperature environments.

New to Clark’s SMPTE product line are the HFCPV and HFCDB cables. These versions are specifically designed for permanent installation applications requiring a riser rated or a direct burial construction. The HFCPV features a PVC outer jacket and a UL riser rated CMR listing for permanent installation in most in-wall and conduit locations. For direct burial applications in underground or partially exposed environments, Clark’s new HFCDB features a puncture resistant polyethylene jacket and water blocking tape barrier that absorbs moisture if the jacket is penetrated.

All Clark HFC Series hybrid fiber cables feature precision specifications that meet or exceed SMPTE 311M-2009 requirements for optical and electrical loss, mechanical strength, and environmental performance. For ease of installation all Clark HFC Series cables feature a unique directional arrow printed on the cable jacket that identifies the gender end of the cable. This feature simplifies termination by labeling the correct end for connector termination and offers the user a quick visual identification when running portable cable assemblies.

“We are excited to announce the expansion of our HFC Series of SMPTE 311M cables,” stated Scott Fehl, Product Manager for Clark Wire & Cable. “With the expansion of our SMPTE camera cable product line we are able to offer a complete hybrid fiber solution for almost any application – studio, production, remote broadcast, and stadium. Built for broadcast-grade performance, Clark SMPTE camera cables have a proven history of being exceptionally flexible, user friendly, and durable. Combined with our ModBox™ modular rack system and in-house custom cable assembly service, Clark delivers a complete SMPTE hybrid fiber system uniquely built to the customer’s requirements.”

Gepco® International Debuts RunOne™ Powered Cables with Live Demo at NAB 2012

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 16, 2012 — Gepco International (NAB Booth #C8508), an industry-leading brand in professional audio and video interconnect products, is pleased to introduce and demonstrate a new line of powered speaker cables at the NAB Show April 16-19, 2012. The new Gepco® Brand RunONE™ Powered Speaker Cables combine audio and power, along with optional data, under a single durable, yet flexible jacket. With multiple uses for corporations, DJs, lighting rigs and tours, RunONE allows the user to pull a single cable in place of multiple cables, providing a portable and neat solution that saves time and hassle.

Each RunONE cable combines one channel of power with two, eight or 12 channels of 110 Ohm balanced audio for line level, mic level or digital AES audio signals and can be used with self-powered speakers or in DMX lighting control. Using real-time analytical software, Gepco will demonstrate the superior characteristics of Gepco’s RunONE cables by comparing them to similar products. The software will measure handling noise, interference and frequency performance for differences you can not only hear, but see.

Additional configurations of RunONE include two channels of Category 5e cable that can be used for data drops in remote power and audio applications. Snakes with optional data can also be used for digital audio transmission while sending power to Front of House (FOH) for remote locations. Shielding around the power channels eliminates power noise from interrupting the audio/data signal, ensuring high-quality performance.

Terminated with industry-standard connectors, RunONE cables offer the option of Edison, IEC and Neutrik® powerCON® connectors for the power channel; 3-pin XLR, 5-pin XLR (for DMX lighting), TRS and Neutrik® convertCON® connectors for audio channels; and RJ45 and Neutrik® etherCON® connectors for optional data channels. RunONE cables are available in pre-defined and custom configurations.

“The RunONE cables are a great solution for anyone looking to save time,” said Joe Zajac, Market Development Manager for Gepco® Brand Products. “With up to 12 channels of audio combined with power and the optional two channels of data, the RunONE cables will also provide for much cleaner set-ups.”
