Gepco® International Debuts RunOne™ Powered Cables with Live Demo at NAB 2012

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 16, 2012 — Gepco International (NAB Booth #C8508), an industry-leading brand in professional audio and video interconnect products, is pleased to introduce and demonstrate a new line of powered speaker cables at the NAB Show April 16-19, 2012. The new Gepco® Brand RunONE™ Powered Speaker Cables combine audio and power, along with optional data, under a single durable, yet flexible jacket. With multiple uses for corporations, DJs, lighting rigs and tours, RunONE allows the user to pull a single cable in place of multiple cables, providing a portable and neat solution that saves time and hassle.

Each RunONE cable combines one channel of power with two, eight or 12 channels of 110 Ohm balanced audio for line level, mic level or digital AES audio signals and can be used with self-powered speakers or in DMX lighting control. Using real-time analytical software, Gepco will demonstrate the superior characteristics of Gepco’s RunONE cables by comparing them to similar products. The software will measure handling noise, interference and frequency performance for differences you can not only hear, but see.

Additional configurations of RunONE include two channels of Category 5e cable that can be used for data drops in remote power and audio applications. Snakes with optional data can also be used for digital audio transmission while sending power to Front of House (FOH) for remote locations. Shielding around the power channels eliminates power noise from interrupting the audio/data signal, ensuring high-quality performance.

Terminated with industry-standard connectors, RunONE cables offer the option of Edison, IEC and Neutrik® powerCON® connectors for the power channel; 3-pin XLR, 5-pin XLR (for DMX lighting), TRS and Neutrik® convertCON® connectors for audio channels; and RJ45 and Neutrik® etherCON® connectors for optional data channels. RunONE cables are available in pre-defined and custom configurations.

“The RunONE cables are a great solution for anyone looking to save time,” said Joe Zajac, Market Development Manager for Gepco® Brand Products. “With up to 12 channels of audio combined with power and the optional two channels of data, the RunONE cables will also provide for much cleaner set-ups.”

Gepco® International Introduces TactiFlex™ Flexible Ruggedized Fiber Optic Cables at NAB 2012

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 16, 2012 — Gepco International (NAB Booth #C8508), an industry-leading brand in professional audio and video interconnect products, is pleased to introduce and demonstrate a new line of flexible ruggedized fiber optic cables at the NAB Show April 16-19, 2012. Designed for portable applications in harsh environments, the new Gepco® Brand TactiFlex™ Flexible Ruggedized Fiber Optic Cables are tough and lightweight, yet more flexible than standard ruggedized fiber cables on the market.

Unique to TactiFlex fiber optic cables is a polyurethane outer jacket that is 30 percent more flexible while remaining abrasion-, chemical- and cut-resistant. For further damage protection and mechanical isolation, the 125µm single-mode fiber elements are coated with a 900µm, hard elastomeric, tight buffer. Available with either single-mode or multi-mode fiber, TactiFlex cables are currently offered in a distribution-type construction, which uses an aramid strength member filler for exceptional strength.

With multiple connector options to choose from, TactiFlex Flexible Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies provide a rugged, portable solution with extra flexibility. TactiFlex can be terminated with precision ST, SC, LC and FC format connectors, as well as Amphenol® T-FOCA II™ and Pierside connectors. Additionally, TactiFlex cable has been qualified for use with Neutrik® opticalCON® connectors and is ideal for use with expanded beam solutions. Machine polished, Tactiflex Cable Assemblies are available at almost any length and terminated to user specifications.

“TactiFlex Fiber Optic Cables and Assemblies deliver improved performance for portable broadcast applications,” said Joe Zajac, Sales and Applications Engineer for Gepco® Brand Products. “While TactiFlex cables can stand up to the harshest uses, their unique, flexible jacket makes them easier to maneuver than stiff, ruggedized fiber optic cables.”

TactiFlex will make its debut at NAB 2012 by running 3D-4U, Inc.’s 180-degree 3D camera in the Gepco Booth (#C8508). Through its patent-pending software and multi-sensor 180- or 360-degree camera, 3D-4U’s unique media player allows viewers to zoom in or out, pan left or right, or tilt up or down with a variety of standard interactive controllers. The immersive video technology developed by 3D-4U utilizes custom solutions designed and built by DigiMax Consulting and Gepco International.

Molloy College Addresses Integrated Media Technologies Upgrade at NAB

“Tomorrow’s Needs Today: Making the Argument for Upgrade”

Leading liberal arts institution, Molloy College, of Long Island, NY, will be participating in the Broadcast Education Association panel discussion during NAB, “Tomorrow’s Needs Today: Making the Argument for Upgrade,” on Wednesday, April 18 at The Las Vegas Hilton.   Molloy College first met with Integrated Media Technologies, Inc. (IMT) at NAB 2011 to determine the best way to upgrade their SD production facilities to full HD specs.

As media technologies continue to evolve and previous generations become obsolete, communications programs in small schools are reaching the threshold of maintaining traditional curriculum while deciding what new media to adopt and use. The BEA panel discusses strategies in proposing new media upgrades and the struggles of adopting a new program. Panelists are currently upgrading or have recently upgraded their traditional communications curriculum.
Moderator: James Cohen, Molloy College
Panelists: Matthew Tullis, Ashland University
Thomas Kenny, Molloy College

“We chose IMT after speaking with Greg Pocali at NAB 2011 last year in Las Vegas,” explained Thomas Kenny, Molloy Adjunct Instructor.  “We went to NAB to research gear and materials needed to transfer our SD studio to HD.  This included cameras, switchers, storage devices, etc.  After meeting with Greg, he pointed us in the right direction and told us exactly what we needed for a transfer.  Greg is extremely knowledgeable as an engineer and we felt comfortable with him and the staff at IMT.”

“We are upgrading our facility,” he continued, “because it is in standard-definition and at this day and age, everyone should have a high-definition facility.  If my iPad can shoot video in HD, then the studio for the students should have that capability as well.  We plan on using the facility for educational purposes to help  our students get a career in media production.  Also, this could [allow] students to start their own productions outside of class for news programs and various shows.”

Media Production Curriculum
Molloy College has had a Media Production Curriculum for several years.  Over the last two years, the college has changed its curriculum to match the change in technology.  Last year, Molloy developed and implemented a brand new minor in New Media.  This includes combining web and television – students learn how to create apps, design a website, and create web television while utilizing all mediums (iPad, Internet, television, mobile device, etc.).

Thomas Kenny concluded, “The discussion for me is based on two areas.  First is the need to have an updated, high-definition facility for our students to nurture successful careers in media/new media production. This is the area where we worked closely with Integrated Media Technologies, Inc.  The second phase of the discussion, again from the Molloy College perspective, is updating the curriculum to meet today’s standards. In today’s media culture, students creating film/television also need to include social media, websites, apps, etc., to the mix in order to have successful careers.  We are speaking about how we designed the courses for the Major & Minor.  Plus, we will tie in how both the new media Major/Minor uses the updated HD facility.

WHAT: “Tomorrow’s Needs Today: Making the Argument for Upgrade”
WHEN: Wednesday April 18, 2012 12:00pm – 1:15pm
WHERE: Las Vegas Hilton, Conference Room 1

IMT at NAB 2012, April 16-18, Las Vegas
IMT will be hosting a number of technology briefings in their hospitality suite on the second floor of the Renaissance Hotel located at 3400 Paradise Road. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Please contact IMT’s Marketing Coordinator, Kate Metzger, for more information – kate@imtglobalinc.com.

The RapcoHorizon Company Is the Go-To Choice for the Clay Cooper Theatre

BRANSON, MO, JANUARY 23, 2012 – The RapcoHorizon Company (2012 NAMM Show Booth 4558, Hall C), a leading manufacturer of audio/video interfacing and cable equipment, has been the clear choice for the Clay Cooper Theatre since January 2010. Located in Branson, MO, the Clay Cooper Theatre relies on RapcoHorizon custom splitter snakes as well as an array of instrument and microphone cables to ensure the venue’s 1,000 annual performances go off without a hitch.

Home to the Clay Cooper Country Music Express, a 22-member live show with musical and comedic acts, the Clay Cooper Theatre also hosts several national celebrity performers, with shows taking place up to seven days a week. With as many as three shows each day, the venue relies on the RapcoHorizon cables and custom snakes for reliability, durability and ease of setup — elements that are vital to perfect productions.

“With three daily shows and all of our visiting acts coming in, the theatre never stops,” says R.P. Harrell, Clay Cooper Theatre’s production manager. “There is always a complete change in the audio setup for each show and the turnaround time is very fast. Yet, with all of this going on, I’ve never had a piece of RapcoHorizon equipment fail on me. I just cannot remember a time that anything with the name RapcoHorizon on it let us down.”

The RapcoHorizon/Taylor Guitar V-cable Volume Control Cables, introduced at the 2011 NAMM Show, are used by the venue’s acoustic musicians for individual control over the volume of their instruments. RapcoHorizon’s SP Cables are used with the stage monitors to ensure clarity of tone, while microphone cables with Neutrik connectors run audio to the various microphones. These cables and connectors guarantee a clear, crisp tone while rejecting interference and electrical hum, which is important in any live application. DMX lighting cables supply the perfect amount of power for the theatre’s lighting needs during productions. With the abundance of RapcoHorizon cables in use, the Clay Cooper Theatre relies on custom 56-channel XLR splitter snakes, XLR and TRS sub snakes as well as direct boxes from the company to ensure a neat, organized stage. With such a wide variety of RapcoHorizon equipment being used, the Clay Cooper Theatre is ensured dependable performance and resilience during every show.

“We use RapcoHorizon equipment both in the theatre and when the Clay Cooper Country Music Express goes on tour and we could not be more elated with the products,” concludes Harrell. “I’m totally sold; we were looking for reliability and performance and that’s exactly what we got.”

The RapcoHorizon equipment has been some of the most heavily used equipment in the Clay Cooper Theatre. Based on a recommendation by country music icon Neal McCoy’s house audio engineer, Daryl Johnson, during a performance at the venue, Harrell chose RapcoHorizon for all his cabling needs.

The Clay Cooper Theatre is a 1,250 seat venue located on Highway 76 in Branson, MO. Boasting a 50’ x 27’ main stage with two side stages positioned at a 45 degree angle to the crowd, each with a projection screen, the theatre puts on shows that are both visually and aurally exciting. The show season runs March 10 through December 9 with five additional performances being held between Christmas and New Year’s. The off-season runs January through February while the Clay Cooper Country Music Express show is on tour. In 2012, the Clay Cooper Theatre looks to bring a new morning show, “Red, Hot…& Blue!” and a new afternoon show, “The Rankin Brothers,” to audiences. HARMAN’s HardWire™ Expands Its Product Line With New Gold-Plated Pedal Couplers and 5-Pedal Adapter Cable

ANAHEIM, California – HARMAN’s HardWire today announced that it is expanding its footprint by introducing a new line of accessories built to complement the HardWire pedal line and provide the same high-quality construction for durability and performance. The accessories can be used to power HardWire and other compatible effects pedals for use on guitarist pedalboards and gear racks. This new accessory line is launching with two new products: the HardWire Gold-Plated Pedal Couplers and HV-5 Power Adapter Cable.

The HardWire Gold-Plated Pedal Couplers are 1/4-inch-to-1/4-inch adapters that connect from the output of one effects pedal to the input of another. The premium-quality adapters are gold-plated to ensure maximum signal transfer and performance, and their shorter length enables more pedals to fit in a smaller space, reducing the size of a pedalboard.
The HardWire HV-5 5-Pedal Power Adapter Cable can power up to five effects pedals. One end of the HV-5 plugs into a 9-volt DC output of an effects pedal, such as the HardWire HT-6 Polyphonic Tuner, and the five additional connectors plug into the 9-volt power adapter inputs of other HardWire effects pedals, or other brands of pedals with a compatible 9-volt center-negative power adapter input.

“Our HardWire Gold-Plated Pedal Couplers and HV-5 5-Pedal Power Adapter Cable help ensure that there are no weak links in your pedalboard,” said Rob Urry, HARMAN Professional vice president and GM, of Signal Processing and Amplifier Business Units. “Lesser-quality couplers or cables can degrade your signal and tone, which is why using high-quality connectors like our Gold-Plated Pedal Couplers is important. In addition, our HV-5 Power Adapter Cable can save guitarists from spending their money on batteries or additional power supplies.”

The HardWire Gold Plated Pedal Couplers are sold in pairs at an MSRP of $19.95 per pair and are currently available. The HardWire HV-5 Power Adapter Cable carries a suggested retail price of $24.95 and will be available in February 2012.
