Systems integration specialist Broadcast Networks has helped Norwegian broadcaster OB-Team stay one step ahead of its competition by delivering a 3D capable, 19-camera High Definition Outside Broadcast vehicle – the first of its kind in Scandinavia.

At 13.6 meters long, this new vehicle will be one of the largest OB trucks on the road. It features a single expanding side that expands a full 1.87 meters thanks to the clever use of fold-out walls and even a fold-out equipment rack.

Creating such an impressive mobile facility involved close collaboration between Broadcast Networks, prime contractor Sony Professional Services, OB-Team’s technical department and Swedish coachbuilder Groth.

Tom Haye, managing director of Broadcast Networks, says: ?OB-Team operates in Scandinavia, which has notoriously harsh winter weather conditions. Given the size of this vehicle it was vital that we considered its construction, more

In an effort to provide the most effective and reliable presentation systems for its students and professors, the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City has outfitted three of its classrooms with Hitachi 3LCD projectors. The classrooms feature CP-X809 projectors—one classroom contains two projectors placed side by side, while the other two classrooms each have one projector. Monolith Systems of New York City sold and installed the Hitachi projectors.

According to Josephine Tatel, AV Manager for the Columbia University School of Social Work, the School required the “lightest and brightest” projectors available.

“The classrooms are large and have high ceilings so the light weight and high brightness of the CP-X809 were a good fit,? Ms. Tatel said. “They met ease of installation and maintenance features we were seeking.?

Close View of OmniLine Micro-Line Array Above St. Paul’s Sanctuary

Chestnut Hill, PA––Built on a tract of land purchased in 1856, the elegant and venerable St. Paul’s Episcopal church was built in 1929 on the foundation of the second building.

The ceiling of St. Paul’s is built like a ship, symbolic of the Ark and the boat of the fishermen but not the ideal setting for audio reproduction. The Rev. Cliff Cutler retained Spinnaker-Multimedia Solutions to study the room acoustics and design a compatible audio system. The original systems consisted of massive stadium speakers with overhead microphones for speech and choir reproduction.

“We were retained to correct poor sound distribution and speech intelligibility problems. Parishioners seated in the rear couldn’t understand the spoken word or the choir very well,? says Fenicia Redman, VP Project Development at Spinnaker.

“So we did what we always do,? relates Redman, “modeled the space. There was no way we were going to more

As digital natives comprise the majority of today’s U.S. students, it is important that the curriculum incorporates technology as a tool for learning. According to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), multimedia tools can provide a rich environment for conducting project-based learning, which can help students to: increase knowledge and skills in the particular discipline being addressed; master research and higher order thinking skills; increase knowledge and skills in making use of information technology; and become further engaged in the subject.

In addition to these benefits, most states require that students meet a technology-focused standard prior to graduation. Generally, students should know how to use technology as a tool of research, organization, evaluation and communication, as well as understand the ethical and legal issues surrounding the access and use of information more

Lake Washington School District Students Hear Clearly with Help from Califone

Califone PA300

Califone PA300

Lake Washington School District (LWSD), located east of Seattle, was looking to install new technologies that would better serve its increasingly more digital-savvy student population. Approximately 2,000 educators and more than 23,500 students, including a growing number of English-language learners, were asking for new ways to utilize technology within the walls of their 49 high-performing schools.

District decision-makers found during research that visual learning tools, such as projectors, improved student participation and held attention for longer periods of time. After installing a projector system that would allow educators to use DVDs, VHS tapes, computers and streaming video, the next step was to find the appropriate audio component.

LWSD was looking for a cost-effective, high-quality speaker that would supply ample sound to the entire classroom. Decision-makers also required that the system be easy-to-use, more
