Studer Vista 5 Digital Console Brings State-of-the-Art Sound To Famed Great Festival Hall in Austria

The Grosses Festspielhaus (Great Festival Hall), home to the famed Salzburg Festival–one of the most famous performance spectaculars in the world–has revamped its main audio system for the first time in two decades. The upgraded system includes a completely redesigned control room, featuring a Studer Vista 5 digital console. Celebrating the hall’s 50th and the festival’s 90th anniversaries, the Vista 5 was chosen for its optimum recording capabilities, with performance recordings in demand throughout the year.

Working to achieve 5.1-quality sound in the control room, which is fairly small and oddly shaped due to the architectural aspects of the nearly century-old venue, the Vista 5 features a lightweight, high-performance compact operating surface, ideal for the small space. The console is rigged to be mobile and can be easily disconnected and reconnected and transported to areas beyond the hall for performances outside of the festival season.

An Easy Upgrade Path Makes DK-Technologies PT0710M Waveform Monitor The Ideal Choice For PERFORM

A chance encounter at last year’s IBC exhibition has resulted in Danish metering manufacturer DK-Technologies supplying two PT0710M audio and video waveform monitors to PERFORM, a world leader at broadcasting and commercialising sport in digital media.

PERFORM’s Engineering Project Manager Mike Edwards was at the show investigating equipment for two new Avid edit suites the company was building for its OMNISPORT news service. At the entrance of Hall 8 he came across the DK-Technologies stand and stopped to demo the company’s products.

“It really is worth going to IBC,? he says. “Had it not be been for the position of the DK stand, and the excellent demo we received from Andy Page, we would not have known anything about the company’s waveform monitor products and would have only looked at Tektronix and Hamlet.?
