Largest ever deployment of WATCHOUT

The Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China, which opened on May 1st, sees the largest-ever implementation of the Dataton WATCHOUT™ multi-display presentation and production system in a single location.

In total, more than two-dozen of the Expo’s pavilions aimed at gathering and presenting the world’s cultures are making use of WATCHOUT, including the host China pavilion, the City of the Future, the City of Planets, the City of Dreams, and the national pavilions of Japan, Brazil, Singapore, G ermany, Spain, Switzerland and the UAE. Other pavilion designs employing WATCHOUT include the State Grid Pavilion, World Trade Centers Association, General Motors, the Urban Planet Pavilion and the Europe Pavilion. The Macau Pavilion alone is using over 130 WATCHOUT-equipped computers to produce its AV show. more

When the Norrköping Visualization Center was opened by His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on 27th May, the ceremony marked the end of an extraordinary three-year design and construction process in which technology consultancy Visual Acuity has played a pivotal role. The company’s work included an early feasibility study to set budgets and outline the plan of how the technology would be used, design of the digital dome and supporting spaces within the actual historic building, writing of tenders and technical management of vendors through installation and finishing. more

The Big Game from PokerStars.net dealt its first hand June 15th on Fox, airing on Fox affiliates around the country and online at PokerStars.net. FLDA Lighting Designer Bruce Ferri brought his signature lighting style to the six week poker program. “We shot for six days at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, covering 150 hands of poker per day,? explains Ferri. “In total, we shot 900 hands of poker to get six weeks of programming. Each round of 150 hands is five days of broadcast episodes. It was actually really interesting because poker is unpredictable and the stakes are high.? more

Currently owned by MediaQuest Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, TV5 has recently undergone a complete re-branding which has resulted in a substantially increased audience share. It now has more than 11% of the market, making it the third largest station in the Philippines. more

In Universal Pictures’ Get Him to The Greek, Director of Photography Robert Yeoman, ASC and Gaffer John Vecchio knew that the concert finale, the payoff of the comic road trip adventure, had to deliver visually. They turned to Production Resource Group (PRG) and Lighting/Video Designer Bryan Faris to create the iconic rock performance. “Bob and I spoke about the concert sequence the very first day of production,? explained Vecchio. “Director Nicholas Stoller expressed to us that he wanted it to look as big and contemporary as any concert out on tour. I knew we needed to call on the services of PRG. They do this day in and day out.? more
