Linear Launches Intelligent Three-Way Z-Wave Light Switch

Unlike most three-way switches that require a traveler wire, this smart switch can be installed just about anywhere there’s AC power

Carlsbad, CA – July 7, 2014 – Leading security and home automation, access control, and health and wellness manufacturer for residential and commercial markets, Linear LLC today announced the launch of its 3-way Z-Wave® smart switch, model WT00Z™. The new Z-Wave smart switch allows remote ON/OFF control and dimming of as many as five other Z-Wave controlled lights, and adds another intelligent control solution to Linear’s Internet of Things (IoT) portfolio. Linear, including its 2GIG® brand of products, is the largest user of Z-Wave chipsets in the world. Obituary

The Linear® WT00Z™ smart switch gives professional security and home automation installers an invaluable tool by offering a desirable home control lighting function that previously was either not possible or practical. Because the Linear 3-way smart switch does not directly control a load, it can serve as a virtual 3-way switch and be wired anywhere power is available, without the need for a traveler wire. When paired with a 2GIG® Go!Control® system, or other brand of home automation controller, the 3-way Z-Wave smart switch offers simple control of one, two or as many as five other lights, making it easy for consumers to quickly illuminate or extinguish lights with a simple flip of a nearby wall switch.

“This new 3-way Z-Wave switch is extremely important to our portfolio of connected devices. It solves a vexing problem for installers, while bolstering the capabilities and value of the Go!Control® automation panels they install. Controlling a light from two locations is a convenience most people have come to expect, but anyone who’s done electrical wiring knows it’s not always that simple,” said Duane Paulson, senior vice president of product and market development for Linear. “This new Z-Wave smart switch makes it easy. This is another example of our commitment to bring smarter products to market that add convenience, while enhancing the value of our 2GIG® home control platform, which continues to accelerate in popularity.”

Linear is also a principal member of the Z-Wave Alliance. “Z-Wave is at the heart of the world’s largest ecosystem of interoperable smart products, and it will continue to grow. Our partnership is stronger than ever and we remain committed to bringing innovative, intelligent Z-Wave control solutions to the residential and commercial markets,” continued Paulson.

Z-Wave® is an international wireless standard for intelligent, interoperable, low-power, RF mesh networking technology. This powerful smart chip and compact protocol enable two-way RF communications among Z-Wave enabled devices. Linear is now manufacturing, selling and distributing Z-Wave lighting control products that include: wall dimmers, wall switches, wall outlets, lamp modules, appliance modules, 3-way switches/dimmers, fixture modules, as well as international versions of the same products plus other Z-Wave enabled security and convenience devices. Linear also has the capability to utilize its extensive OEM experience to manufacture Z-Wave products for partner companies seeking their own intelligent lighting solutions.

Screen Innovations Creates New In-wall Screen Category

Austin, TX—June 2014—Screen Innovations (SI), the fastest growing technology-based screen manufacturer in the USA—and the undisputed world leader in ambient-light-rejection screen technology—has developed an exciting new in-wall installation option for its FlexGlass™ rear projection screen material.

FlexGlass™ In-wall is a revolutionary new option that integrates a screen into a wall for a flush fit and finish.

FlexGlass™ is the world’s first rollable glass projection screen with curve and custom capabilities ideal for commercial and retail installations. With FlexGlass™ In-wall, the screen is material inserted into a rigid frame at the job site, then mounted in a pre-cut opening. SI provides integrators with a template and step-by-step instructions to cut a precise opening in the wall.

FlexGlass™ Rear-Pro projection screen material is the most innovative breakthrough in rear projection screens in decades. For the first time, a screen has broken the physical barriers that limit all other rear projection screens. It does so by delivering unmatched edge-blend capability, zero hotspotting, almost infinitely variable viewing angle, and dark contrast because of its ability to reject ambient light.

FlexGlass™ is made from the same material as bulletproof glass, and is available in screens up to 9’ high and 99’ wide, allowing the best in flexibility, strength, and performance. It offers the benefits of the best rigid optical glass and panels, and, because it’s semi-rigid, FlexGlass™ can be used in curved configurations ideal for retail, in-window displays, exhibits, houses of worship, board rooms, corporate lobbies, and more. It can also be rolled in long, seamless sheets on 24” diameter cores, eliminating the logistical problems associated with moving rigid glass or Plexiglas sheets into and through buildings, elevators, and small doorways.

ihiji Introduces Powerful New Real-Time Remote Network Management Tools for Commercial Integrators at InfoComm 2014

ihiji ConnectNinja, Auto-Discovery, and Speed Test features make commercial market debut

AUSTIN, TX and LAS VEGAS, NV – JUNE 17, 2014ihiji, a global leader in remote network management for both commercial and residential technology integrators, will introduce its network management solution to the commercial market at the upcoming InfoComm 2014 in Las Vegas, June 14-20, 2014 (ihiji booth #N567a). The Company’s powerful demonstration will include an overview of the award-winning ihiji invision network management solution, as well as the new ConnectNinja, Auto-Discovery, and Speed Test features. Together, these features help integrators remotely monitor, service, and maintain all aspects of a client’s network and connected devices more efficiently and securely.

ConnectNinja Feature
ConnectNinja makes the ihiji invision zero-maintenance cloud-based network management solution even more powerful by giving authorized users secure remote access for troubleshooting and configuring devices and networks. One of ConnectNinja’s key benefits is that it eliminates the need for unsecure port forwarding and VPNs for everyday remote access. In addition, ConnectNinja offers simple and secure remote access from directly within ihiji invision’s cloud-based web portal by tunneling connections into the client device through ihiji’s servers. This feature allows technicians to resolve complex issues easily, saving time and money by virtually eliminating the need for truck rolls and multiple site visits.

“ConnectNinja is a powerful feature for the commercial market, especially when you consider high maintenance applications like digital signage or the management of a large number of IP-based devices,” said ihiji Vice President of Technology and Co-founder, Mike Maniscalco. “We’ve done the hard work for commercial integrators by forming a secure connection to devices through our cloud servers. ConnectNinja significantly reduces both time and money spent on troubleshooting or deploying technicians, and with this enhancement, ihiji invision is an even more valuable asset for technology integrators focusing on efficient and proactive customer service.”

ihiji’s ConnectNinja joins other NetNinja features; PowerNinja, which remotely reboots IP-addressable power units; SwitchNinja, which remotely power cycles PoE ports; and StealthNinja, which provides direct soft-reboots of devices.
ConnectNinja is included as a part of the ihiji invision solution at no additional cost. Additionally, ihiji’s zero-maintenance cloud-based architecture means that the feature will be available with no additional patches or upgrades needed by the integrator.

Cloud-Based Remote IP Scan and Auto-Discovery Feature
ihiji invision is introducing one of its most requested features from the commercial market, a new cloud-based remote IP network Scan and Auto-Discovery feature. This new enhancement collects data about all of the IP devices on a given network and provides detailed reporting that includes IP address, manufacturer, mac address, and last-seen/first-seen instances. This powerful new feature can also convert devices that are already in use into ihiji-managed devices, further simplifying the configuration process for technicians and IT managers.

Internet Speed Test
ihiji’s cloud-based Internet Speed Test, an essential tool for testing network latency and Internet connection quality, enables integrators and network managers to check and confirm network functionality as well as relative upload/download speeds at each of their client sites. In addition to taking a snapshot of Internet quality, this test also logs and charts connection quality over time, providing clients and service providers with a long-range profile of Internet quality that includes latency, upload speed, download speed, and network jitter information. These reports let the integrator identify trends to fine-tune the system and improve performance, while also allowing them to demonstrate the improvement in system uptime and availability before and after monitoring was implemented. ihiji’s Online ISP Speed Test will benefit clients and service providers as a critical component of their Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

“Adding cloud-based network scanning and an Internet speed test is not only a natural evolution of the ihiji invision system, it is a necessity,” stated Maniscalco. “We continue to aggressively add more robust network management features that better serve the specialized needs of both commercial technology integrators and IT professionals.”

ihiji executives and technical staff will be on hand to demonstrate these features, as well as many other ihiji innovations during the InfoComm 2014 conference, in booth #N567a.

About ihiji
