Triad Speakers, Inc. Ships its Thinnest Soundbar Yet, the Nano OnWall LCR 3.0

Fully-damped and braced extruded aluminum enclosure measures 1.6-inches deep by 3.25 inches high and is available in custom widths and paint finishes. Add to the mix premium components and passionate sound engineering and the Nano OnWall LCR 3.0 is the best performer in its class today

Portland, OR – January 28, 2014 – Triad Speakers, Inc. is now shipping its Nano OnWall LCR 3.0, a
3-channels-in-1 passive loudspeaker system (soundbar) for today’s ultra-slim TVs. The company’s thinnest soundbar to date, Nano measures 1.6-inches deep (including grille) by 3.25 inches high and is available in both custom widths and paint finishes. MSRP begins at $1,200. Standard accessories include Triad’s EZ Mount Bracket and brackets to mount directly to the TV.

Triad has been in business for more than 30 years and is well-established as a leading international brand of loudspeaker solutions in the custom residential channel. The brand offers dealers a robust line of in-room, on-wall, in-wall and in-ceiling solutions, the majority of which is custom-manufactured in the USA.

Triad’s soundbar line consists of 10 models at varying levels of performance and sizes to complement most every TV available today. According to Triad Speakers Marketing Manager Paul Teixeira, it was the lackluster sound of today’s ultra-slim TVs that prompted the company to engineer a speaker that could maintain the sleek look of the TVs, yet provide robust performance.

Teixeira notes, “While there are other manufacturers that market thin soundbars, their sound has typically taken a backseat to size. The Nano LCR 3.0 incorporates 6 specially-designed Scan-Speak drivers and 3 soft dome SB tweeters in a fully-damped and braced aluminum enclosure, all of which was a major challenge from such a compact enclosure. We’re very proud of how it sounds and looks, and believe it’s the best performer in its class today.”

The Nano LCR 3.0 represents the first of a new series of ultra-compact soundbars from Triad that utilizes this new design process using extruded aluminum. The speaker is manufactured to order in Triad’s modern factory in Portland, Oregon. In addition to custom paint-matching, the company offer optional (at extra cost) custom-sizing in widths to match the length of the video display

InfoComm International Teams With AMX Europe to Train 75 AV Networking Pros

Nine Discounted Sessions of InfoComm’s Networked AV Systems Class to be offered

InfoComm International is collaborating with AMX Europe to provide networked audiovisual systems training to AV professionals. At least 75 students will be able to take InfoComm’s highly regarded Networked AV Systems class at a discounted rate in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom, dramatically raising the number of trained professionals in the region.

The three-day classes will be offered nine times in AMX Training Centres, and will cost €400/£350+VAT for members, €800/£650+VAT, for non-members.

“The AV world has evolved and if you lack knowledge of IT networks you are creating obstacles to your success,” said David Labuskes, CTS, RCDD, Executive Director and CEO, InfoComm International. “AV systems increasingly use enterprise IP networks — the same networks that already carry mission-critical voice, data and other information. These networks were never designed with real-time delivery of audiovisual content in mind. Without an in-depth understanding of IP networks and the way AV applications operate within them, customer expectations may not be met. And improperly configured AV devices can create catastrophic network problems. InfoComm thanks AMX for their strong commitment to this program and industry quality.”

”AV and IT convergence is moving ever closer and a lack of Networking and IT knowledge can be a major stumbling block to achieving successful AV installations today,” added Graeme Scott, European Training Manager, AMX Europe. “AMX is committed to empowering its customers with information and training that will keep them ahead of the game. We are delighted to be collaborating with InfoComm to deliver the Networked AV Systems training across Europe. InfoComm believes in promoting knowledge and quality throughout the industry; beliefs that AMX also holds very dear.”

The Networked AV Systems course is built around real-world applications that clients want today, and the way AV and IT technologies must be coordinated to create the best experience. The course follows the process of matching AV and networking technologies to customer needs for digital signage, conferencing, remote monitoring and management, and networked AV security. It goes through the planning for three fictional companies, each with its unique requirements.

Students will learn how to glean customer needs, manage trade-offs between quality and bandwidth, and work through the sometimes conflicting needs of customers and network managers. In the end, through better coordination among clients, IT professionals, and AV designers, network-based AV systems can deliver the kind of communication experience that benefits everyone.

Because many will need more basic education before endeavoring into Networked AV Systems, InfoComm’s Networking Technology Online class, which conveys foundational knowledge, will be a perquisite for enrollment. AMX is generously covering the cost of this class for all who enroll in the Networked AV Systems sessions at their centers. Classes will be offered as follows: 3 – 5 March, London; 6 – 8 March, Netherlands; 10 – 12 March, Sweden; 21 – 23 July, London or York; 24 – 26 July, Belgium; 28 – 30 July, Paris; 13 – 15 October, London; 16 – 18 October, TBD; and 20 – 22 October, Germany.

To register visit InfoComm’s online store at infocomm.org. For direct assistance with UK classes contact InfoComm UK Account Manager Ben Barnard at bbarnard@infocomm.org. For questions about European classes outside of the UK, contact InfoComm Regional Director Godwin Demicoli at gdemicoli@infocomm.org.

IC Realtime Embraces UL’s 2802 Performance Testing Standard for Camera Image Quality

IC Realtime CEO Matt Sailor is enthusiastic about UL's new testing standard

IC Realtime CEO Matt Sailor believes a standard is crucial to keeping manufacturer’s spec claims honest

Pompano Beach, FL – January 17, 2014 – IC Realtime, a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced visual surveillance solutions for the residential, commercial, military and government sectors, embraces UL’s 2802 Performance Testing Standard for Camera Image Quality.

In the works for more than two years — and released last September — the new standard defines a method to assess video image quality through a series of performance based tests that are conducted on production digital cameras.

Cameras are rated (on a scale of 0 thru 100) on the following parameters: image resolution; distortion; relative illumination; dynamic range; maximum frame rate; gray level; sensitivity; bad pixel count and veiling glare.

”A standard for testing camera performance is crucial in keeping everyone’s claims honest,” says
IC Realtime CEO Matt Sailor, adding “For years IC Realtime’s test labs have been evaluating competitor’s cameras and the amount of deception that we’ve witnessed would blow your mind! I mean cameras that come no where even close to what manufacturer’s state as specifications. It’s truly unfair to the end-user and in the end the integrator’s reputation is put in jeopardy.”

Sailor cautions manufacturers “If you want to compete in my marketplace you’d better follow through and have UL certify your camera’s performance.”

To help create the UL 2802 standard, IC Realtime worked closely with UL, including submitting its B-2000 2-MegaPixel IP Bullet camera to use as part of the testing development process. According to UL, the camera achieved high scores on many of the performance tests, with a certification and the results expected to be published shortly.

ICE Cable Systems Now Offering Alarm Wire in Their Big Mouth Payout Box

Company aims to help installers reduce average wire pull-time on every single alarm job by incorporating a heavily reinforced box with a special cable-wind, massive pay-out hole and ascending/descending foot markers

Los Angeles, CA – January 16, 2014 – ICE Cable Systems — a leading manufacturer of premium low-voltage wire and cable products serving the Audio Video, Alarm and Security, Commercial, Electrical Contracting and Data Center channels – is now offering alarm wire in their renowned Big Mouth Payout (BMP) box.

The BMP box is constructed of ultra-durable, weather resistant cardboard (with reinforced handles) that is burst-tested to withstand 21 kilograms of force, far surpassing the typical alarm wire boxes on the market today.

BMP has been a popular seller for ICE Cable Systems for category, speaker, coax, control and structured cables because its 4-inch payout hole and proprietary winding pattern work in tandem to eliminate everyday pull-problems like kinking, knotting, recoil and tangling.

For additional installer convenience, ICE Cable Systems’ alarm wire incorporates ascending and descending foot-markers, making it effortless for the integrator to identify how much cable has been used and how much remains.

“Because alarm wire is a commodity item naturally the focus of many vendors has been to keep prices competitive,” says Chris Wyllie, principal of S.E.A.L Solutions, a metro-NY AV integration firm that installs residential security and surveillance systems on a regular basis. “The problem is that in order to keep the prices down, the majority of boxes are cheaply made, easily getting destroyed in the back of the work van and/or on the jobsite. Trying to pull cable out of a damaged box is a nightmare. The fact that ICE Cable Systems has thought this through with their BMP box is going to benefit a lot of installers.”

“If we can help installers reduce average pull-time by 15 percent per job, that’s huge,” says ICE Cable Systems President Brian Rizzo. “It means that we are helping them to move onto other aspects of the job faster. Spend a day walking in the shoes of one of these guys – one less problem to have to deal with is a big deal.”

The following ICE Cable Systems alarm wires are now available with BMP: 22-2/ Solid;
22-2/Stranded; 24-4 Solid and 24-4 Stranded (and many in runs as long as 1,000 feet).

Spring 2014 Stampede Big Book of AV Tour Highlights The Internet of Things and Tie-Ins With InfoComm and ITRA

2014 will kick-off with a very loud bang on January 23rd in Austin, Texas when the Spring 2014 Stampede Big Book of AV (BBOAV) Tour makes the first of seven scheduled stops at the Woodward Conference Center at Wyndham Garden.

According to Stampede Presentation Products Inc. President & COO Kevin Kelly, 2014 tour attendees can expect to see more product demonstrations of new and innovative solutions from more participating exhibitors than ever before, along with tie-ins with InfoComm Regional Roundtables and the International Technology Rental Association (ITRA).  “More companies and industry associations presenting more products and more strategic business-building information than ever before — that’s what our dealers can expect to see when they turn out for the tour this year,” Kelly promised. “In particular, we will be highlighting how dealers can immediately begin profiting from the new era of The Internet of Things.”
The 2014 Stampede Big Book of AV Tour will include four stops co-located with InfoComm Roundtables and one stop co-located with ITRA.
