PixelFLEX LED Panels Brighten Sunday Service

Thousands crowded into Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis recently for a Sunday service not soon to be forgotten. PixelFLEX LED Curtains adorned the church stage with a vivid, bright and high-quality video screen celebrating the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, adding a more lifelike feel to the service.

Flexible in all directions, PixelFLEX LED Curtains are able to bend and shape around structures for a more creative display, which is why Tony Morris, director of Technical Services for Bellevue, decided to utilize the panels for the performance backdrop.

“The flexibility really provides many advantages over the hard, inflexible panels,” said Morris. “Install and tear-down is extremely easy. Additionally, the rigging hardware on the top is simple to attach to the truss and the interconnection between the panels is all very straightforward.”

The production team cleared out the 75 ft. deep and 130 ft. wide stage, which usually has a 65 piece orchestra and a 200 voice choir, to have a clean slate for creating the atmosphere desired. The panels (20mm- 5 Panels) were used as a backdrop flown from a truss to enhance colors behind the singers, small band and pastor presenting during service that morning. The church’s stage has a trim height of about 45 ft. above the stage and the crew trimmed out the panels at 25 ft.

Videos and images can be sent to the screen using any computer with a DVI-D connection – PixelFLEX LED Curtains are available from low resolution to high resolution, allowing users to demonstrate simple effects or elaborate videos. The high caliber visual components of the curtains come with equally impressive customer service assistance and without the need for an extensive budget.

Pleased with the overall ease of set-up and tear-down, as well as the accessibility of the product, Morris said they are looking at additional ways of using PixelFLEX in the future.

“It’s amazing just how bright those things are,” said Morris. “We plan to try to incorporate the PixelFLEX panels in more elaborate productions moving forward to maximize the worship experience for our congregation.”

Live production company cites stability, ease of use as ZEPLAY selling points

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, August 19, 2013Tightrope Media Systems is helping Mobile Content Providers (MCP) shift into high gear for live, instant sports replay with ZEPLAY. The cost-efficient, multi-channel instant replay system helps MCP maintain its affordable rates for live sports production, while injecting fresh excitement into broadcasts and on venue display screens for professional and collegiate events.

MCP offers affordable, full-service, mobile unit alternatives to generate content instead of the typical 52-foot expanding side trucks. The ZEPLAY is integral to MCP’s workflow, delivering multiple camera angles from two compact units. “We recently did a professional tennis event, and the master control center experienced a satellite dropout during the live broadcast,” he said. “We recorded the program to a ZEPLAY channel on the second machine and replayed that segment from master control. This allowed for a clean airing with no signal dropout. Occasions like this that make our workflow extra appealing.”

Elsewhere, Colaiacovo and his team rely on ZEPLAY’s flexible tagging features for highlights and other packages, allowing operators to quickly locate player data, game information and other details. The built-in multiviewer also enhances operating efficiency within MCP’s compact units, saving space in comparison to large monitors and multiviewer walls that require more real estate.

“Our units are not conventional 18 wheelers, and ZEPLAY gives us a solid machine with plenty of features and flexibility, and integrates well within our compact workflow,” said Colaiacovo, who is currently preparing to unleash ZEPLAY for college and high school football season. “We simply wouldn’t be able to achieve what we do with a large, conventional, complex replay system.”
