Christie, Park Road See Fruits of Joint Research
Christie signed a technology co-operation agreement with Park Road Post Production Ltd. (“Park Road�) and Weta Digital Ltd. (“Weta�) in April 2012 to work together to advance the state of the art of digital cinema production and projection, with an emphasis on high frame rate (HFR) delivery.

Australian Open tennis tournament

Christie’s Managed Services team provided technical consultation at every stage of the installation, from concept finalization, to pre-staging, to on-site set-up, expanding on its long history of collaboration with Disney. Christie projection technologies have powered some of Disney’s most famous world premiere events, including “Pirates of the Caribbean� and “High School Musical�. Each window will feature an array of Christie MicroTiles in a staggered, multi-layer set-up of various shapes and depths, surrounded by bright meshes of lights that will be synchronized with the music.

Right Technology at the Right Place
The shallow depth of the display windows presented an especially daunting challenge, eliminating technology that required substantial space. Flat panels were considered, but their thick bezels significantly distracted from the display, which needed to appear nearly seamless.

Christie MicroTiles were the answer. Lightweight and shallow rear projection modules approximately 16� by 12�, they are less than a foot deep and fit perfectly in the store windows. More importantly, they have a nearly invisible 1mm gap between the tiles for seamless images and can be scaled to any size, shape and orientation, forming a digital canvas of the highest brightness and resolution. As well, with a viewing angle of 180 degrees, every view from the street offers “the best seat in the house�, regardless of where one is standing.

The Best and the Brightest
Harnessing the strengths of both DLP projection and LED technology, Christie MicroTiles offer substantially brighter images and a much wider color palette than conventional flat panel LCD and plasma displays. Available in both IP and ASI versions, LMNTS extracts and decodes audio codec packets from the program stream, performs high-quality PCM loudness processing, and then re-encodes and re-packets the audio within its stream. Physically, all data connections to LMNTS are via GigE IP or ASI interfaces using an industry-standard IT hardware platform with no intermediary breakouts.

9374-EMDE Quad Stream SDI – AES – MADI series
Cobalt’s new series of MADI embedder/de-embedder processing cards opens up new possibilities in multi-channel/multi-source baseband audio routing (192 x 192 crosspoint switch).

The 9374-EMDE Quad Stream SDI – AES – MADI series provides a full unrestricted audio crosspoint that allows channel routing between any channels on up to four SDI steams, discrete AES-3id, and AES10 MADI interfaces. It uses standard 1694A cabling thus eliminating the need for fiber. Its excellent MADI receiver performance allows up to 250m MADI receive capability with no signal degradation.

Embed and de-embed-only versions are also available, as well as dual SDI stream 9372 and single SDI stream 9371 versions.

9257 1×9 MADI Audio Distribution Amplifier
Cobalt will also show its award-winning and scalable 9257 1×9 MADI audio distribution amplifier that provides quick and easy AES10 MADI signal distribution between vehicles without the need for fiber. The 9257 supports sampling frequencies up to 96 kHz, with a 64-channel payload supported at industry standard 48 kHz sampling rate (other sampling rates specified as valid per AES10-2003 also supported at various payload capacities).
