David Yurman Celebrates New Fall Line With The Help of a NanoLumens® NanoFlex Display

When high-end jewelry designer David Yurman introduces its new line of jewelry, it requires a launch party that is as glamorous as its products. When the company asked Coloredge, their visual communications provider, to find a video display for a roof-top celebration in New York City, they decided to use a NanoLumens® display to help kick off the fall line. NanoLumens, the pioneering Norcross, Georgia-based company that introduced the world’s first large format flexible LED display technology, provided Coloredge with a NanoFlex™ display that was used to showcase the jeweler’s new Fall 2012 ad campaign.

According to Kerry Fitzgibbons, Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Recruiting at Coloredge, they found everything they were looking for in NanoLumens. “Our client tasked us with finding a video display that could shine bright against the brilliant sunset over the New York City skyline. After doing some research, we decided that a display created by NanoLumens was the ideal solution. Not only are their displays beautiful and economic, but they provide a clear, seamless picture that maintains its radiance, regardless of the ambient light.”

Coloredge found that the lightness and flexibility of the NanoLumens screen was the perfect technology for the sparkling event. They rigged the display on trusses and built a 12-foot by 12-foot custom frame to enclose the NanoFlex. The display was used throughout the night to display David Yurman’s new ad campaign, the brand guide, behind-the-scenes glimpses into the ad campaign, and a photo slideshow.

“To have a NanoLumens display featured at a David Yurman event only makes sense,” said Will Amos, Director of Retail Sales at NanoLumens. “David Yurman represents the best in high-end jewelry, while NanoLumens represents the best in digital display technology, so this was a perfect match. Our displays are easy to set up, and are able to produce a brightness of up to 5,000 nits, making it so that party-goers can enjoy our unmatched picture quality even when set against the backdrop of an amazing sunset.”

NanoLumens displays are extremely slim, ultra-lightweight, energy efficient, and feature a seamless, edge-to-edge picture quality (up to a brightness of 5,000 nits) that can be viewed from any angle or any distance without color shift or picture drop-off. The company’s patented display technology, which allows customers to select from 4mm up to 10mm pixel pitch (depending on the model), promises to transform the way marketers engage their customers in every type of trade show, retail, hospitality, stadium, arena, transportation and public event environment.

NanoLumens displays are designed and engineered with the environment in mind, and consume significantly less energy per square foot than conventional digital displays. Further emphasizing their commitment to eco-friendly technology, NanoLumens displays are composed of up to 50 percent reclaimed materials, and are completely recyclable. What’s more, some NanoLumens displays can be serviced from the front, making maintenance easier than ever before possible.

Designed and assembled in the United States, NanoLumens displays are offered in standard configurations as well as design-specific configurations to fit virtually any size, shape or curvature in both the NanoFlex line of flexible displays and the NanoSlim line of fixed frame displays.

The company’s technology has been recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as a 2011 future-proof tech trend and was cited by The Wall Street Journal in its 2010 Technology Innovations Awards. NanoLumens’ technology also received the 2011 Breakthrough Technology of the Year Award at the American Technology Awards. Digital Signage Magazine awarded the NanoLumens NanoFlex a 2011 DIGI Award for “Best New Display Device – Non-LCD or Plasma.”

About NanoLumens:
Headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, NanoLumens, Inc. (www.nanolumens.com) is a privately held corporation engaged in the research, product development, marketing and sales of unique flexible and fixed displays that address a yawning technology gap in the $14 billion digital display industry. Since its founding in 2006, NanoLumens has built a portfolio of more than 20 international families of issued and filed patents on its flexible display technology that effectively address the commercial market void between relatively small flat-panel displays and huge, limited application LED boards. NanoLumens technology is not constrained by standard sizes and shapes, or by the weight, noise and cost issues traditionally associated with commercial LED products.

Sennheiser Delivers End-to-End Audio Solution at Newport Folk Festival®, As Fans Experience Authentic Sound via Wireless Headphone Technology

Newport, RI – August 9, 2012 - The last weekend of July, audio specialist Sennheiser, in conjunction with event partner Paste Magazine, hosted a live broadcast / recording studio session housed in an alcove of an 18th century fortress, located on the site of this year’s Newport Folk Festival®. By simply donning a pair of Sennheiser RS 120 wireless consumer headphones, music fans were able to experience true-to-life, intimate performances artists from festival artists, including Of Monsters and Men, Tom Morello, Jonah Tolchin and 26 others.

Wherever possible, the entire audio chain consisted of Sennheiser related technology — including microphones from subsidiary Neumann and Sennheiser, preamplifiers from distributed brand TRUE Systems and wireless RF technology from Sennheiser.

The two-day recording session was not without its challenges. These included a live sound stage located just 100 yards away and an extremely reflective — and somewhat leaky — recording environment. Despite all this, the wireless headphones delivered a clean and quiet performance, faithfully representing the artists’ sounds for the duration of the two-day event.

Microphones on stage and in the room included several Neumann TLM 49s and KM 184s, two U 87s and a pair of Sennheiser e 906s. The microphones were connected to a pair of TRUE Systems Precision 8 preamplifiers, which — through a special feature on the back panel of the unit — split the signal and subsequently routed it to both a multi-track recording rig as well as a live mixer. Each of the Sennheiser wireless headphones received a live stereo mix of the multi track recording sessions courtesy of Nashville-based veteran engineer Steve Ledet. A Sennheiser A5000CP antenna was strategically placed in the rear of the grotto, providing a generous amount of RF coverage both inside and outside the grotto.

In addition to having many pairs of wireless headphones on hand, Sennheiser set up a special VIP seating area where listeners could audition an assortment of Sennheiser’s audiophile and professional headphones, including the HD 600, HD 650, HD 700, HD 800 and the new Amperior.

“Each of the performers we hosted at the Sennheiser Sound Lounge at the Paste Ruins takes an enormous amount of pride in the craftsmanship and honesty of their songs — this is of paramount importance to them,” commented Tim Moore, artist relations manager, Sennheiser. “By selecting a complete signal path of Sennheiser family gear before and after the mixing console, we were able to ensure the integrity of the audio at almost every stage. As a result, the performers were able to establish a more direct and honest connection with their fans.”

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Jonah Tolchin, who performed on the second day of the festival, found the Sennheiser Sound Lounge at the Paste Ruins particularly inspiring. “This is just incredible,” he said. “In this environment, with all these great mics, you are so zoned in and focused with all your heart and soul.” Tolchin recently released his debut album entitled Criminal Man, which was recorded using Neumann microphones. “The sound was very crisp and clear — I got true sound out of these mics and my music is true. So it was a good pairing!”

Clips of the performances will be made available for viewing via Sennheiser’s social media outlets over the next several weeks.

Technomad Loudspeakers Blanket Larkin Square in Buffalo with Brilliant Audio Quality

Noho C and Vienna weatherproof loudspeakers deliver high-quality music, intelligible announcements across large new public space

BOSTON, August 7, 2012 – The Larkin Development Group of Buffalo, NY has unveiled a multi-purpose public space in the Larkin District of Buffalo, NY to further unite the community. The newly developed Larkin Square is alive with outdoor concerts, retail markets, office buildings, lounge areas and more, bringing people together in a vibrant open-air environment.

Stretching the length of one city block, Larkin Square features an exceptional professional audio system equipped with 25 Technomad advanced audio loudspeakers. The new audio system supports the “Live at Larkin” summer concert series, a weekly Wednesday evening entertainment series featuring local musicians and nationally recognized artists.

Local systems integration firm Powerhouse Pro Systems strategically positioned the loudspeakers throughout the square to maximize coverage for large audiences. The weatherproof loudspeakers deliver background music and announcements, including public safety information, to roughly 10,000 people gathered in the square each week.

The Technomad loudspeakers comprise a mix of the company’s Noho and Vienna loudspeakers, and were chosen for their ability to deliver intelligible voice and background music in a compact and durable package. The weatherproof loudspeakers are unprotected from outdoor elements and deployed in a 70-volt configuration to accommodate lengthy cable runs.

Tony Spencer of the Buffalo-based Powerhouse Pro Systems installed the systems in cooperation with local electrical designer Paul Foxe of Wittburn Enterprises. Spencer, in the AV installation business for more than two decades, consistently uses Technomad loudspeakers for their ability to withstand rigorous climates and project full-range audio with broad dispersion over long distances.

“Technomad loudspeakers were designed to perform under a multitude of weather conditions, whether it’s 90-degree heat in the summertime or below-zero temperatures during winter,” said Spencer. “We get both in Buffalo, so having durable, weatherproof construction that could withstand snow and ice buildup was of major importance. We also wanted loudspeakers that offered good projection and delivered well-rounded audio with an admirable amount of bass. The Noho and Vienna were the perfect fit for this project as they are the ideal size, and deliver superbly intelligible speech and unmatched audio.”

Spencer and Foxe installed 10 Noho loudspeakers on five light poles spread throughout the square. The two-per-light pole strategy ensures an even outdoor audio pattern outside with broad audio coverage at any volume.

The remaining 11 Nohos blanket a covered walkway area that can accommodate 1,000 people, with the loudspeakers positioned high above the crowds. The Nohos in this section are evenly spaced and directed inward to the crowd — ensuring even audio coverage and a pleasant background music soundtrack to match the relaxing, lounge-like atmosphere of the space.

The duo also installed four compact Vienna loudspeakers in the nearby covered stage area, which is an elevated space for smaller live acts.

“We placed the Viennas roughly 10 feet up from the stage floor, which was the ideal height to deliver the perfect pitch here,” said Spencer. “This space doubles as a lounge area with background music when not being used for a live band. The Viennas fill the need perfectly.”

The Technomad system is performing without fail, and Spencer notes that there are future plans to expand Larkin Square with additional shops and recreational space. “I’m used to Technomad performing well, and that’s why I continually rely on their excellence,” he said. “When they expand, we’ll turn to Technomad again. There’s no other choice in my mind.”

Sennheiser & Paste Create Intimate Performance Space at Newport Folk Festival®, Showcasing A New Generation of Inspired Artists

Newport, RI – August 2, 2012 – Since its founding in 1959, the annual Newport Folk Festival® has served as a beacon for devout music fans and artists around the world. Last weekend, audio specialist Sennheiser and Paste Magazine introduced festival attendees to the Sennheiser Sound Lounge at The Paste Ruins, where they were able to experience up-close and personal performances from their favorite artists through a pair of Sennheiser RS 120 wireless headphones. 29 of the festival’s 45 performing artists took part in the performances — including Of Monsters and Men, Tom Morello, Jonah Tolchin and many others.

The two-day recording session — which was open for music fans to view and experience first-hand — took place in a grotto-like alcove located in the quad of Fort Adams State Park. Despite the acoustic challenges of having a live sound stage located just 100 yards away, fans attending the Sennheiser Sound Lounge were able to enjoy intimate performances courtesy of the Sennheiser wireless headphones, which were fed a live stereo mix of the multi-track recording sessions in progress. Clips of the performances will be made available for viewing via Sennheiser’s social media outlets beginning in two weeks.

“The Sennheiser Sound Lounge at the Paste Ruins was a huge draw at the festival this year,” commented Tim Moore, artist relations manager of Sennheiser. “It gave music fans the opportunity to discover and experience a new generation of heartfelt music in an incredibility intimate environment. Having the Sennheiser wireless headphones on hand also helped deliver the true sound that today’s music fans crave.”

In addition to having over 300 pairs of Sennheiser wireless headphones on hand for fans to enjoy authentic sound quality, a special VIP section was set up where listeners could audition an assortment of the company’s audiophile headphones, including the HD 600, HD 650, HD 700, HD 800 and the new Amperior.

Sennheiser, which owns the leading microphone brand Neumann, also used its technology on the stage wherever possible to ensure that the best possible sound quality was captured at the source.

Nick Purdy, publisher of Paste, commented: “When you come to a festival, you don’t expect to be able to get 10 or 20 feet away from the artist and experience a close, intimate performance apart from what they may do on the big stage. By partnering with Sennheiser, who helped create the environment while providing microphones, wireless headphones and other equipment, we were able to create one of the more memorable highlights of the festival.”

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Jonah Tolchin, who performed on the second day of the festival, found the Sennheiser Sound Lounge / Paste Ruins performance space particularly inspiring.
