Matrox KVM Extenders Now Compatible with EIZO 2Kx2K Air Traffic Control Display

Reliable, fanless design and zero compression, zero latency KVM extension make Matrox Avio and Extio ideal for ATC environments

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced compatibility of Matrox Avio™ F125 and Matrox Extio™ F2408 KVM extenders with the EIZO Raptor SQ2804 2Kx2K primary control monitor for air traffic control. Matrox KVM extenders allow ATC workstations to be located in a different room than the control monitors, simplifying system maintenance and security. They feature reliable, fanless designs and the ability to transmit all signals with zero compression and zero latency on a single duplex LC-LC fiber-optic cable, making them ideal for ATC environments.

Matrox KVM Extenders Now Compatible with EIZO 2Kx2K Air Traffic Control Display

The Raptor SQ2804 monitor features EIZO eBlue LED backlight technology, offering outstanding image quality, low energy consumption, and a long lifetime. Two dual-link digital video signal inputs are included as standard and a DisplayPort™ input is available as an option.

When used with the EIZO display, Matrox Avio F125 fiber-optic KVM transmitter/receiver pairs extend dual-link DVI (2048×2048) video, audio, multiple high-speed USB 2.0 compliant devices, keyboard and mouse from the host computer by up to 400 m (1312 ft) over multimode cable and 10 km (6.25 mi) over single-mode cable.

Matrox Extio F2408 Quad KVM extenders separate keyboard, mouse, audio peripherals and up to four DisplayPort displays from the rest of the computer by up to 1 km (3280 feet) via fiber-optic cable and PCI Express® bus-extension technology.

“We have some cases where our customers in air traffic control need to isolate their computing resources in climate-controlled, secure server rooms,” said Rob Hawksworth, International Business Development Manager for Air Traffic Control, at EIZO. “Matrox Avio and Extio provide the extension performance needed to drive the EIZO Raptor 2Kx2K monitors and other peripherals from a distance.”

“Matrox KVM extenders pair beautifully with the ergonomically-designed EIZO Raptor displays to reduce environmental stress on operators,” said Caroline Injoyan, Business Development Manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. “In addition, ATC system integrators can count on the reliability, stability and longevity of the field-proven Matrox products to meet customer needs in these demanding installations.”

Symetrix Partners with Attero Tech & Stewart Audio to Deliver Dante Ease

AMSTERDAM (NL) / ISE 2014 — (February 4 2014): In a significant development for users of Audinate’s Dante media networking technology, Symetrix has announced that the latest version of its popular SymNet Composer software will enable complete configuration of select Dante-enabled Symetrix, Attero Tech and Stewart Audio products.

Settings affecting I/O levels, routing and more will be defined with SymNet Composer 2.0, which gives customers the ability to consolidate operations on a single platform where three or more were previously required.

“As a result of the release, integrators will no longer need separate software packages for each manufacturer’s product as well as Dante Controller,” comments Trent Wagner, Senior Product Manager at Symetrix. “Supported Dante-enabled products will appear side-by-side with Symetrix SymNet products in the Composer software and can be managed or configured identically to Symetrix products. Professionals who have used our Composer before will have no learning curve.”

Stewart Audio has long pursued a focus on making networked AV affordable and practical, and its current range includes innovative Dante end-points. “Our customers desire solutions that prove to be both compatible and complete in addressing their audio challenges. The collaboration between Stewart Audio, Symetrix and Attero Tech represents a major step in that direction,” says Stewart Audio’s Chief Marketing Officer, Brian McCormick.

He continues: “By collaborating on solutions we can create the right outcomes for our customers. With all the difficulties consultants and integrators face daily, presenting them with a comprehensive answer to an application is what this partnership is really about.”

Mike Sims, Director of Marketing and Sales at Attero Tech – which produces a trio of Dante interfaces – welcomes the partnership as “the next logical step” in the interoperability of Dante networked audio systems. “Our goal has been to make deployment of these systems as seamless as possible, while allowing consultants and integrators to choose best-of-class products from a variety of manufacturers. This is the future of interoperability,” he declares.

The initial response from the integrator community is also encouraging. Chuck Mitchell is owner of California-based Technology of the Arts and recently undertook a Dante-centric installation involving Symetrix and Attero Tech products. “Dante is rapidly becoming a default choice for all manner of projects in the installed environment,” he says. “The partnership between Symetrix, Attero Tech and Stewart Audio around the use of Dante-based systems is to be warmly welcomed as it helps to bring every installer’s dream of blanket interoperability that little bit closer to being realised.”

Symetrix Solus DSPs Shining Brightly at Leading Norwegian Universities

Audio routing/processing in auditoria and classrooms across several higher education colleges in Trondheim is more flexible than ever before thanks to the latest generation of Symetrix open architecture DSPs.

Lecture hall audio and online content streaming in classrooms are just two of the tasks handled by Symetrix Solus and Radius 12×8 processors in Trondheim’s leading centers of higher education. The Symetrix devices were the selection of Atea, which has been providing integration services to two eminent colleges in Norway’s third largest city for several years now.

Boasting offices throughout Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, Atea is a regional power player in IT and AV installation. During the last 12 months Atea has made increasing use of two of Symetrix’ latest products: the SymNet Solus 16 open architecture standalone DSP and the SymNet Radius 12×8 open architecture scalable DSP with support for Audinate’s Dante media networking technology.

“Generally speaking, the Radius 12×8 and Solus DSPs offer the processing power and versatility required for academic-type installations,” says André Dominic Schorr,

AV senior consultant/programmer at Atea. “In most cases, we are talking about general purpose lecture room audio, streaming and sharing of content, and flexible routing to and from different lecture halls and teaching spaces. The Radius 12×8 and Solus 16 are entirely capable of handling such tasks, but there is no doubt that Dante networking affords even greater flexibility, so the level of interest in those solutions is definitely on the rise.”

In the most recent phase of work at its two primary academic clients in Trondheim, Schorr and his team have installed multiple 16-in, 8-out Solus processors. “One of the really great aspects for this type of project is that with Solus you have a library of design templates that provides a solid basis for most problems encountered in typical university installations,” he enthuses.

But above all, Schorr is admiring of the processor’s open architecture design. “I come from a live sound background, and it seems to me that Solus’ design makes life incredibly straightforward for all types of engineers – it really is very easy to get to grips with.” Then there is the processor’s rock-solid reliability: “Speaking for myself, I have never experienced a system failure, which is precisely what you need when dealing with high-volume projects like these.”

In both colleges of higher education, the Symetrix processors have been integrated successfully with an audio inventory that includes large numbers of RCF and Focal speakers, Sennheiser wireless microphones and Audix wired microphones. Cisco and Tandberg collaboration equipment, Crestron control solutions, Sony and Epson projectors and Samsung screens are among the other stalwart elements of Atea’s university installations.

“In our current and next phase of work, we are upgrading some auditoria and lecture halls that have not received significant attention for as long as 10 or 15 years,” reveals Schorr. “With the Symetrix DSPs we are confident that we have the tool to take these rooms forward confidently into a new era of technological ease and versatility.”
