CLEAR-COM BRINGS NEW COMMUNICATIONS, CONNECTIVITY AND TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS TO LDI 2014

At the upcoming LDI 2014 exhibition in Las Vegas, Clear-Com® will demonstrate its continued commitment in linking communication groups together with its latest intercom, signal transport and intercom connectivity (ICON) solutions. These new solutions can save users time and money, while making their workflows much more efficient.

Clear-Com will present the new LQ™ Series, a new family of ICON devices for linking intercom and audio systems over IP networks. Visitors will also see the new FreeSpeak II™ wireless intercom system, a DECT-based offering that operates in the license-free band 1.92 to 1.93 GHz. In addition, we will be showing ProGrid™, the synchronous, optical fiber transport solution for audio, intercom, video, and data.

As a low audio latency communication link, LQ Series can be used for natural intercom conversation, networked music performances and for audio signals that are transported between different facilities. Based on Clear-Com’s patented I.V.Core® technology, the compact LQ throw-down devices enable connections of 2-wire partyline with call signaling and 4-wire audio over LAN, WAN or Internet IP infrastructures. LQ Series has a 2-wire (LQ-2W2) or 4-wire (LQ-4W2) option. The LQ-2W2 is both Clear-Com and RTS TW compatible. A maximum of six LQ IP interfaces can be linked together in any 2- or 4-wire combination.

The recent release of FreeSpeak II™ places it as the preferred DECT-based, all-roaming wireless communication solution in the United States and Canada for live event, broadcast, sport production, industrial, military and government applications. Operating in the license-free 1.92 to 1.93 GHz band, FreeSpeak II has been demonstrating its advanced roaming capabilities across large-scale, multi-zone production areas.

The system supports up to 20 full-duplex wireless beltpacks and 10 antennas connected to one base station or fully integrated into the Clear-Com Eclipse HX digital matrix system. The base station has connections for two partylines and four 4-wires, including a dedicated SA output and program audio input. With the full-duplex 7kHz bandwidth, the digital ‘Clear-Com Sound’ reduces ear fatigue after extended usage and delivers clear intelligibility of every word said into the system.

Clear-Com will also highlight ProGrid™, the highly resilient and scalable platform for carrying, distributing, and routing high capacity of audio, intercom and video signals, as well as control data, across long distances without compromising its performance, speed, or quality. ProGrid is based on the open AES3 and AES10 (MADI) standards, providing fiber-based transport, routing and format conversion with full management and diagnostic capabilities using the Optocore® and SANE technologies.

“We are excited to confirm our commitment to the live event and live entertainment markets by showing off our latest innovations at LDI 2014,” said Michael Rucker, Director of Sales–North and South America at Clear-Com. “Clear-Com has been a part of this vibrant market since the beginning. We are pleased to show our latest wired and wireless intercom systems as well as our innovative connectivity and infrastructure solutions. Setting up, managing and using our communication and transport products is quicker and easier than ever before, which allows users to concentrate on providing the best performance possible.”

The complete line of Clear-Com’s new and enhanced products will be available for demonstration at LDI 2014 on booth 1752.

Renkus-Heinz and First Baptist Church of Shawnee – Keeping Tradition Alive

Shawnee, OK – November 2014… Shawnee’s First Baptist Church was founded in 1892, 15 years before Oklahoma gained statehood. After their main sanctuary was damaged by a tornado in the 1930s, the church rebuilt, and that structure serves as the main sanctuary to this day.

While the historic building has been well maintained over the years, its aging sound system had not been so fortunate. Church officials and congregation members alike were increasingly frustrated by intelligibility issues in the main sanctuary, and inconsistent coverage in the balcony and under balcony areas. The church turned to Edmond, OK-based AVL Systems Design, who recommended the steered-beam technology of Renkus Heinz ICONYX IC Live.

“The main sanctuary seats about 800 people, and has a balcony area in the rear,” explains Danny Nix of AVL Systems. “In addition to the intelligibility and coverage problems with the old system, there were reflection issues that needed to be addressed.”

The new system comprises four ICONYX IC Live ICL-FR-DUAL columns, hung from the ceiling to avoid damaging the walls. “We used the IC Live’s beam steering capabilities to fill the balcony and the main floor of the church and we used four Renkus Heinz PNX61 Two-Way Complex Conic Loudspeaker Systems for under balcony coverage,” said Nix. “The IC Live’s beam steering technology eliminated the need for front fills, which made for a cleaner look overall. As a final touch, we painted the boxes to match the color of the walls.”

In the end, church officials were pleased that the ICONYX system not only addressed the sanctuary’s intelligibility and coverage issues, but also blended in seamlessly with the décor as well.

“Everyone at the church has been very happy with the results,” said Nix.

Georgia’s Free Chapel Expands to New Gwinnett Campus with Meyer Sound MINA

free chapelFree Chapel in Georgia has opened a new satellite campus in Gwinnett with a Meyer Sound MINA™ line array loudspeaker system in its 900-capacity auditorium. The facility is the ministry’s second venue to deploy Meyer Sound, following the success with a CQ-2 and MSL-4 loudspeaker system on its main campus in Gainesville.

“Our Gwinnett auditorium is easily one of the best-sounding rooms I’ve heard in a long time in terms of coverage smoothness,” says Michael Henson, technical director for Free Chapel. “The spoken word clarity is outstanding. We get a straight unprocessed audio feed of Pastor Franklin’s voice, and we’ve found that we have to do almost nothing on the console to make it sound great in the room. The clarity and presence of the MINA system create an optimum environment for worship by producing a sound that’s immersive, but never distracting.”

The auditorium has installed dual arrays of eight MINA loudspeakers each, six 700-HP subwoofers, two UPJ-1P VariO™ loudspeakers for side fill, and eight UPM-2P loudspeakers for front fill and recessed stage monitors. A Galileo® Callisto™ loudspeaker management system with two Galileo Callisto 616 array processors provides system drive and alignment.

Audio quality is critical at Free Chapel in part because Pastor Jentezen Franklin is both an inspiring speaker and accomplished saxophonist. “He has a trained musician’s ear, and after walking the room front to back and side to side for the first time, he was very pleased with what he’d heard, as we all were,” reports Henson.

Outside of the auditorium, the café, bookstore, and entryway areas feature 44 Stella-8C installation loudspeakers. Also implemented are several loudspeaker models with IntelligentDC™, the Meyer Sound technology that combines self-powered advantages with easy installation. The IntelligentDC systems installed in these areas are four MM-4XP self-powered loudspeakers and one MM-10XP and two UMS-1XP subwoofers. All systems were designed and installed by Moyers Group.

“A high priority for this church is that anybody attending—whether in the main auditorium or the overflow areas—should experience the same high level of audio quality,” says Jeremy Moyers, president of Moyers Group.

Moyers Group also supplied dual DiGiCo SD10 digital consoles for FOH and monitors, an Optocore digital snake system, Sennheiser 2000 series wireless IEM and microphone systems, and Shure P6HW wired personal body pack receivers.

The Gwinnett facility is the newest satellite campus of Free Chapel, a fast-growing ministry led by Senior Pastor Jentezen Franklin. The main Gainesville campus’s CQ-2 and MSL-4 loudspeaker system was recently boosted with six 1100-LFC low-frequency control elements.

1. Revamped Media Server — Atlas Media Server
Designed for IPTV operators, telcos, mobile operators, broadcasters, and Over The Top (OTT) video providers, the powerful Atlas Media Server provides grooming and VOD (video on demand) options in three different sizes.

The system ingests MPEG-2, H.264, and/or H.265/HEVC live streams over IP, then “grooms” the streams by adding wrappers such as MPEG-DASH, HLS, or RTMP, plus subtitles for closed captions or multiple languages. It outputs the live streams and simultaneously stores the streams as VOD files.

2. UDP Video Packet Recovery Technology — Winner of the Society of Broadcast Engineers Technology Award for 2014 — DOZERbox II IP IP
DVEO’s patent pending “DOZER” technology enables reliable high quality video delivery over public internet or so-so private lines. The DOZERbox II IP IP is a compact end-to-end Error Correcting Router for smoothing UDP traffic over the public internet, with built-in packet recovery algorithms for alleviation of packet loss and resultant video freezes. It does not add jitter or noise, and does not increase bandwidth consumption like FEC. It is perfect for delivering critical video over congested public backbones.

Streaming media production professionals will use this system for electronic news gathering and streaming live video from events. The system ships with a matching decoder and a custom made backpack.

4. 120 Channel Adaptive Optimized Transcoder for OTT and Multi Screen Services –Brutus V IP/IP: TELCO
The enterprise class Brutus IV IP/IP: TELCO is a real time Adaptive Optimized Transcoder with 48 Cores — ideal for simple transcoding or grooming at headends for OTT or Multiscreen services. It transcodes up to 120 SD streams, or 40 720p HD streams, or 30 1080i/p HD streams from MPEG-2 to H.264 or vice-versa. The system is suitable for IPTV, OTT, mobile TV, broadcast, and Telco TV, or as a transcoder/reformatter for RTSP IP Cameras. The Brutus supports Flash, HLS, RTMP, HTTP, Smooth, and Live streaming and works well with Wowza®, Adobe® Flash® and RealNetworks® Servers.

5. IP to SDI/HD-SDI Video and Audio Decoder — D-Streamer IP/DIG
The D-Streamer IP/DIG is a real time H.264 or MPEG-2 decoder that receives IP transport streams and decodes them to SDI or HD-SDI, or optional HDMI. Streaming media content providers use DVEO’s MultiStreamer DIG/IP to encode SDI or HD-SDI to H.264 IP, then decode the IP streams with the D-Streamer IP/DIG. The Linux® based system is available in three versions — a single input channel, two input channels, or 1-8 input channels. It is perfect for receiving and professionally decoding “poor” video from IP cameras, remote sites, content delivery networks (CDNs), or IPTV compatible appliances or players. The system works with Teradek, Nanocaster, Minicaster, Axis IP Cameras, and other streaming appliances.

6. Ad Inserter for Mobile Multi Screen Video Delivery and for OTT — Ad Serter IP/ASI/SDI
The Ad Serter IP/ASI/SDI is a broadcast quality playout server with Ad and EAS (Emergency Alert System) capabilities. It inserts or overlays video clips, graphical ads, logos, scrolling text, and RSS news feeds — anywhere on live or stored video content, on a schedule, or via signaling like SCTE 35 signals from EAS generators. Graphics, logos, and text can be static, blinking, or rotating.

The system adds messages to one to four IPTV SD channels, or to one to four targeted SD cable or on-air channels or sub channels. (An option for 1 HD and 3 SD channels is available.) Three versions are available: DVB-ASI, IP, or SDI.

7. 50 Channel Transcoding IP Video Playout Server with Scheduling — IP Grooming Server 50ch 1TB
The IP Grooming Server 50ch 1TB is a file playout server for scheduled continuous streaming. It stores various file types, then “grooms” them by transcoding the streams to H.264 and/or scaling the video to different resolutions. It also adds various “wrappers” such as HLS, RTMP, etc.

With the IP Grooming Server, users can create their own 50 “streaming” web channels with 50 different movies or content, playing on a preset schedule. The Linux® based system is a great video hosting playout server for ISPs, corporate websites, schools, hotels, and digital signage.

8. SDI/HD-SDI to IP Live Streaming Appliance — MultiStreamer DIG/IP
The latest version of DVEO’s real time MultiStreamer DIG/IP live streaming webcasting encoder receives one, two, or four SDI or HD-SDI inputs (from cameras, editing systems, or video servers) and multiple IP inputs. It creates multiple simultaneous high, medium, and low bitrate IP streams and sends them to iPads, iPhones, content delivery networks (CDNs), and remote video capture devices. Each stream can have several proxies with different “wrappers” such as HLS, RTMP, etc. The broadcast quality system features schedulable input — it can receive input at a specified date and time — and ships with one terabyte of local storage.

The MultiStreamer is also available with other video input formats — 8VSB, HDMI, Analog, DVB-ASI, HDMI, DVB-S+S2, DVB-T+T2, QAM, ISDB-T, or DVB-C.

“We are excited to be showing our leading edge products at Streaming Media West,” said Laszlo Zoltan, Vice President of DVEO. “Our unique streaming systems feature lots of options to meet the needs of our customers. And as always, we are very open to customizing our products.”
