IC Realtime Launches Open Platform 720-Degree Surveillance Camera Software

Presently available as a free App at iTunes.com, this special hardware-agnostic software enhances the user-experience of any 180- and 360-degree analog, IP or Megapixel surveillance camera by completely immersing the viewer into the center of the action

Pompano Beach, FL – August 21, 2014 – IC Realtime (CEDIA Expo 2014 Booth #776), a global innovator of Internet of Things enabled video technology solutions, has just released the first version its IC720 surveillance camera software. A key element of the company’s upcoming 720-degree camera line, the software also dramatically improves the user-viewing experience of its 180- and 360-degree surveillance cameras (all analog, IP and mega-pixel models), as well as those of other brands. Available as a free App at iTunes.com, IC720 is presently compatible with iPad – with versions for iPhone, Android and a variety of mobile devices, tablets and laptops, on the way.

IC Realtime CEO Matt Sailor

”The IC720 software creates a panoramic, 3D-like experience that completely captivates viewers by putting them in the center of the action, far surpassing anything available in video surveillance monitoring to date,” says IC Realtime CEO Matt Sailor. “This game-changing technology is reinventing the way we think about and approach video and software solutions that can be deployed across almost all hardware applications.”

According to Sailor, an added beauty of IC720 is that it’s built in a modular format, making it device-agnostic, therefore capable of integrating with all video surveillance cameras on the market today.

“If the software doesn’t already work with the manufacturer’s application, just provide us your RTSP video stream path, and we’ll make it work,” says Sailor, addressing both surveillance camera manufacturers and security system installation companies. “The functionality of the application is second nature, and the potential of the application itself is limitless.”

Road Tested
The software was tested in the most extreme condition that IC Realtime could find – automobile racing. The company worked closely with Scuderia Corsa race team to outfit their Ferrari 458 Italia No. 63 — a vehicle that is currently competing on the US circuit and won the Grand-Am GT championship last year — with its new 720-degree video camera and software. Streaming live high-definition video to mobile devices — and uncompromised at speeds in excess of 100 MPH — the camera is used during practice laps and is planned to eventually be used during racing as well.

The IC720 hardware and software technology incorporates 15 unique aspects that the company has applied/received patent protection on.

Different versions of the camera with interchangeable lenses and sensors are currently in development. The first is slated to hit the market beginning September 2014.

Getting crowds closer to the action of ‘Le Tour de France’

Calibre LEDView scalers power big screens for Yorkshire’s fabulous ‘Grand Depart’

While more than 5 million fans lined the roads of Yorkshire for the opening weekend of the 2014 Tour de France, relatively few got close to the action itself. For those who could not, help was at hand in the form of large LED screens powered by LEDView image-scaling technology from Calibre UK.

The key screens were supplied by two companies – Lightmedia and Big TV – both of which specified Calibre’s LEDView530 as their large-display image scaler of choice for the Grand Depart.

Lightmedia supplied 19 LED screens along the route of the two opening stages from Leeds to Harrogate and from York to Sheffield, with many of them acting as the visual centrepiece for official Tour de France fan parks.

Eddie Elliot-Smith, Managing Director at Lightmedia, comments: “We use the Calibre LEDView530s as a key part of our rental-and-staging operation, to scale live broadcast content from TV cameras around the course for display on each and every one of the LED screens we supplied.

“We use Calibre because, quite simply, they are the most reliable solution in the world. Not only have we used them for this year’s Grand Depart, we also relied on them for other high-profile international events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the wedding of Charles and Camilla, the launch of Xbox ONE and, indeed, Calibre’s previous generation of product at the Tour de France the last time it came to Britain in 2007.”

Big TV head technician Simon Woodcock says: “We went down to Yorkshire fresh from Edinburgh Festival and provided LED screens to various areas on the opening weekend, including Skipton, York and Leeds. The new ‘SkyFly’ mobile LED screen wowed crowds and we also provided screens for a number of private events and parties in Yorkshire as well.

“Calibre quality is central to our LED fleet for managing live feeds. The LEDView530 can take anything you throw at it!”

A high-quality LED-optimised scaler-switcher and universal interface for LED screens, the LEDView530 provides best-in-class professional image processing in a compact, affordable 1U format. It features a jog-wheel and LCD display on its for front panel for fast and easy set-up in the field, and boasts a plethora of useful features including colour adjustment of all source types, powerful picture resizing with simple pixel-accurate edge drag-and-drop, and superior scaling, de-interlacing and noise reduction to reduce image flicker and artefacts.

For mixed rental fleet use the scaler also has a Projection mode in which it supports warp mapping and edge blending, as well as geometry correction and general projection scaling functionality as well as a Scaler-Switcher mode for general purpose scaling and scan conversion making it a truly universal device. The LEDView530 also boasts genlock and I/O lock, making it suitable for on-stage or in-camera use at live events.

Pauline Brooksbank, MD at Calibre UK

Pauline Brooksbank, Managing Director, Calibre UK, comments: “As a Yorkshire company ourselves, we were delighted and extremely proud to have supplied LEDView530 units to power so many LED screens along the route of our county’s “Grand Depart”. This unforgettable weekend was not just a celebration of cycling but a unique opportunity for local people to experience a sporting event they had never come so close to before.

“The crowds who lined the route were 20-deep in places but, thanks to Calibre’s Yorkshire-manufactured technology’s ability to take live broadcast feeds and process them for large-screen display simply, reliably and with absolutely no sacrifice in quality, everybody felt that they were part of the action.”

PLATINUM MIX ENGINEER ERIC RACY DEPENDS ON METRIC HALO PLUG-INS IN THE STUDIO AND ON THE ROAD WITH KATY PERRY

SAFETY HARBOR, FLORIDA: Eric Racy made his entrance into the world of high-profile mixing and producing via the underground world of dance music, a pivot that allowed him to leverage skills and perspective honed by the diverse tones and influences of EDM. He has gone on to mix Robin Thicke, Lil’ Wayne, Pharrell, and Busta Rhymes, along with dozens of other big name artists, and a host of indie and underground artists that deserve to have “big” names. His intuitive, yet technically precise mixing on Tyga’s “Faded” helped propel it to Platinum status, and his affable nature and unfailing ability to work magic with all things audio earned him mission-critical playback positions on tours with 2NE1 and, most recently, Katy Perry. He’s also half of boutique analog signal processing manufacturer Black Box Analog Design and thus aware of tone on a level transcending that of most mix engineers. Racy’s faithful reliance on Metric Halo’s ChannelStrip plug-in, which has been present on most channels on every (yes, every) song he has mixed since discovering it four years ago, speaks to ChannelStrip’s unique musicality and usability.

“ChannelStrip is incredible,” Racy stated flatly. “I’ve used it on every single mix since I discovered it. Although I go out of the box for EQ sweetening on a few critical channels, everything else that needs equalization gets Metric Halo’s ChannelStrip. In fact, those critical channels often get ChannelStrip, too.” Racy has an established methodology in which ChannelStrip plays a key role. When he first opens up a new mix, he combs through each channel, carefully listening for unpleasant resonances and low or high frequency content that can be filtered out. He uses ChannelStrip to then notch out the resonances and filter the unnecessary extremes.

“I’ve tried this with a million plug-ins and outboard EQs,” he said, “but nothing is as effective as Metric Halo ChannelStrip. It doesn’t mangle the audio around the notch or filter, and it doesn’t make it sound like there’s a hole in the frequency range. It gets rid of the annoying frequencies and content, and it does it transparently.” For vocals, Racy often automates the notch frequency to keep the resonance from peeking out when the vocalist changes his or her mouth shape. “The results are well worth the effort,” he said. “Nothing else I’ve found can compare with this technique.”

Similarly, Racy claims to obtain results with the keyed gate on ChannelStrip that he cannot get with any other plug-in or hardware. “I love that I can adjust the key on the gate and that those adjustments are so effective,” he said. “I’ve been working on a forthcoming Killbot album, which involves members of Korn, Sluggo, and Tyler Blue making some aggressive rock meets dubstep. As with any live recording, there’s tons of bleed on the live drums (especially the snare and toms), and – as almost always happens with drum kits – any drum or cymbal can accidently trigger any other drum’s gate. It’s a mess that often required hand-editing in the past; no other gate could get it right. But with Metric Halo ChannelStrip, I can effectively key each drum’s gate so that it only opens for its intended target. I know that other gates have that same functionality, but none of them work nearly as well as ChannelStrip.”

Racy has all of the software and hardware tools he could want in his LA-based studio, but he knew he wouldn’t have access to that gear if he took the job building the audio tracks and doing Pro Tools playback on the Katy Perry “Prismatic World Tour.” “I’m a mix engineer first and foremost, and I certainly didn’t want to give that up on the road,” he said. “Metric Halo plug-ins formed one of the essential components of my mobile rig; ChannelStrip of course, but also Metric Halo’s Character plug-in. Given everything they can do, the Metric Halo plug-ins are very efficient and wouldn’t drain DSP resources on my native rig.”

He continued, “The Character plug-in is great. It models different kinds of analog signal paths, and just like real high-end studio hardware, the effect is critical, but also subtle. Placing different Character settings on a few different channels really adds up to something. It was especially useful to have on the road when I didn’t have access to my outboard gear, but I’ve continued to find plenty of uses for it now that I’m back in my studio.” Racy looks forward to dipping into the rest of Metric Halo’s Production Bundle of plug-ins as time in his busy schedule permits.

Christie’s Book of Transformation Celebrates Projection Mapping Around World

Christie® has published and released The Book of Transformations – a ‘coffee table‘ style book that explores and celebrates how artists and technicians are using powerful projection display technologies to visually transform familiar structures and objects.
The Book of Transformations provides key visuals, core plans and technical details on scores of projection mapping projects done around the world using Christie projectors and complementary enabling technologies. It is available as a free downloadable app across multiple platforms, a PDF file and as a limited release hard copy publication.

Through more than 70 case studies, readers learn how giant office buildings, ancient temples and churches, landmark towers, bridges, performance stages and even athletic playing surfaces have been re-imagined and truly transformed using ‘light paint’ and the creative genius of event producers and artists.

Projection mapping involves creating an accurate, virtual version of a structure, and then using powerful professional-grade projectors to transform the characteristics of that structure using painted light and motion graphics.

Canada’s Parliament Hill Centre Block features Christie's projection mapping

The tablet version of The Book of Transformations includes images, embedded video and detailed narratives of how various structures and surfaces were mapped, recreated in software, and then given entirely new appearances using powerful projected light. The Book of Transformations also traces the history of the art form, provides an extensive primer on how projects are conceived and executed, and looks at the future of the technology and medium.

The free tablet app is available on Apple’s App Store for iPads and Google’s Play Store for Android tablets. A non-interactive PDF is also available free of charge, allowing all the showcases and supporting material to be readily viewed on other tablet devices, as well as PCs and laptops.

The book follows the early 2013 release of Christie’s ‘The Book of Shapes,’ which explored the projects and possibilities of the Christie’s groundbreaking Christie® MicroTiles® modular displays.

Book of Transformations – Designed To Inform and Inspire
“The feedback and marketplace demand for the Book of Shapes was extremely positive, so we started putting the plans together for this new publication even as the first one was being released,” explained Kathryn Cress, vice president, global & corporate marketing, Christie.

“With this new book, we wanted to not only inspire our partners and end-users with what’s possible using our projection technology, but also help explain the process and ingenuity behind some of the truly amazing projection mapping work we’ve seen around the world.”

Bart Kresa of Los Angeles-based BARTKRESA Design inspired the book’s title, having produced stunning visuals at events and installations on several continents. “It’s magic,” said Kresa, “when the audience doesn’t see this as being done with projection … when the audience doesn’t really know how it happens.”
Sorted by vertical categories: Celebrations & Festivals, Corporate, Government, Mega Events, Museums & Entertainment, Promotional & Branded, and Retail & Fashion, the Book of Transformations celebrates projects across several continents.

Featured projection mapping displays include iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, St. Basil’s Cathedral domes in Moscow’s Red Square and the La Scala opera house in Milan. There are also Middle East mosques and temples, grain silos along Canada’s St. Lawrence River, and an old courthouse in Chile – all brought to life with projection mapping.

The book also shows how motion graphic artists and technical producers push the boundaries of projection such as in South Korea and Singapore where water vapor has served as the digital canvas. In the U.S. and Spain, new motor vehicles have been tightly wrapped in fabric and magically transformed through multiple projections and the imagination.

The Christie Technology behind Projection Mapping
Christie’s 3-chip DLP® projectors are used around the world for projection mapping. A wide choice of resolutions and brightness levels lets users project rich, evocative displays on almost any structure or surface. Christie’s range of projectors feature up to 35,000 center lumens, and are equipped with either Xenon or mercury illumination, meeting the requirements for applications of any size and budget.

Christie Twist™ technology allows users to warp and edge-blend projected images onto irregular shapes or surfaces, and complicated multi-projector setups are made easy using camera-based systems such as Christie AutoStack™.

FUX PRODUCTIONS TAKES METRIC HALO PLUG-INS AND INTERFACE THROUGHOUT THE FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE

LYON, FRANCE – APRIL 2014: Still remarkably early in his career, Julien Collier wears many hats as a musician and sound engineer. He is a multi-instrumentalist, a composer, and an arranger; he is a sound designer, a producer, and a director; he is a recording engineer, a mix engineer, and a mastering engineer; and he is a live tech, a FOH engineer, and a monitor engineer. On the side, he works as a music coach and artist developer! Collier borrowed his alias, Fux, for the production house he established in Lyon, France. Fux Productions contains a recording studio, a composing studio, and a rehearsal room, along with Collier’s extensive industry connections. Clients have access to professional musicians of all stripes, composers, sound engineers, producers, videographers, and more. Across all those wide and varied activities, Collier relies on his Metric Halo 2882 interface and Metric Halo plug-ins for almost everything. They are his pro audio equivalent of a Swiss Army knife!

Collier’s list of clients includes many French independent labels, as well as majors such as Sony, Universal, and Warner. A few of his most recent studio projects include work with Romain Ughetto, Chasing After Time, 99 Ways to Die, and Green Money. For all of those projects, he served as producer, tracking engineer, mix engineer, and mastering engineer, and on many of them he also helped with composition and performance. “A lot of important decisions are made during the tracking,” he said. “It is critical to get the recording into the computer in the best way possible because once it becomes digital, it stays digital. I use my Metric Halo 2882 for everything. It has excellent preamps and flexible input and output routing. It’s just as useful in the studio as it is on stage, where I often use the 2882 to mix in-ear monitors. The software and hardware is very stable, and I am comfortable using it live without a problem.”

Collier’s appreciation for the 2882 made him curious about Metric Halo’s other products and inspired him to get the company’s Production Bundle, which is a complete collection of Metric Halo plug-ins. “Like the 2882, the Production Bundle is now completely integrated into my workflow,” he said. “I use Metric Halo plug-ins on everything and in every situation. They are very flexible and allow me to handle everything from subtle track correction to creative coloration and effects. I use ChannelStrip 3 to clean up my tracks with equalization, compression, and filtering. I love that the plug-in has a great deal of precision – when I adjust a parameter, I really feel it directly. The Character plug-in models different signal paths and gives me a great sound that I use all the time. I use two variants of HaloVerb on most of my productions, which combine together nicely without using a lot of DSP resources. I use the Precision DeEsser on all my vocals and on other shrill instruments, like keyboards or hi-hat. Finally, I use the Transient Control on all of my percussion and drum tracks which gives me fine-grain control of dynamics, attack, and power. It’s also often useful on acoustic and electric guitars and is a lot more reactive than other plug-ins of its type.”

ABOUT METRIC HALO Now based in the sunny city of Safety Harbor, Florida, Metric Halo provides the world with high-resolution metering, analysis, recording and processing solutions with award-winning software and future-proof hardware.

D-TOOLS TO DEMONSTRATE WORKFLOW-ENHANCING MOBILE QUOTE APP at ISC WEST 2014

Companion app to SIX 2013 enables security systems integrators to remotely generate bids and later import them into D-Tools SIX 2013 for full project design and management.

D-Tools Mobile Quote is a Companion App to D-Tools System Integrator that extended the user's workflow to a mobile environment for onsite consultations.

CONCORD, CA (ISC West 2014 booth #26135) MARCH 26, 2014 D-Tools, Inc., the worldwide leader in system integration software, today announced that the Company will demonstrate its new iOS-based iPad® companion app for its flagship product, SIX 2013 at ISC West April 2-4, 2014 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas (D-Tools booth #26135). Available now for D-Tools partners worldwide, the new release adds mobile quoting capabilities that enable Commercial and Residential AV integrators to generate quotes natively on an iPad, then import them into the full D-Tools SIX 2013 software platform for further project design and management. Delivering on D-Tools’ commitment to streamline product updates and enhancements by consolidating them into an annual release, this new companion app will immediately extend the highly functional D-Tools workflow to mobile sales and specification teams.

A native iOS application, the D-Tools Mobile Quote app leverages D-Tools’ extensive manufacturer product library by enabling integrators to access and integrate product category and package data from their SIX 2013 catalog while working with customers in the field. Integrators can enter client and contact information into the iPad app, then walk prospective customers through available installation scenarios in order to create a quote for approval. Once complete, the resulting quote can then be imported into SIX 2013 for additional design work and synchronization.

The Mobile Quote app uses many of D-Tools’ workflow concepts, including the specification of locations and systems, which allows integrators to provide packages or pre-configured systems for inclusion in the quote. Labor and general pricing will be calculated to give the customer an accurate proposal, which can then be signed off for approval on the spot.

“Delivering features that enable our users to create quotes in the field is a natural evolution for us. The D-Tools Mobile Quote app is an important component that ensures our platform continues to meet the growing needs of our expanding security customer base,” said Adam Stone, President and Founder of D-Tools. “The Mobile Quote app release is just the beginning. In fact, we are already working on additional mobile capabilities that significantly enhance our product roadmap. As we have demonstrated since the release of SIX last year, our new platform enables us to deploy new features as part of rapid and regular release cycles, which will ultimately provide our customers a clear path for sustained growth. We think ISC West attendees will be excited by the capabilities of this powerful new app. ”

More than 4,500 companies worldwide use D-Tools Systems Integrator Software to streamline the estimation, design, and project management processes associated with the installation and integration of low voltage systems.

The D-Tools Mobile Quote iPad® app will be demonstrated during ISC West April 2-4, 2014 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, D-Tools booth # 26135. A distinguished panel of industry influencers and veterans conducted this year’s evaluation proceedings. “There is a lot of talent and quality out there, and we’re excited to recognize these cool tools, leaders and trendsetters in the education technology space,” said Victor Rivero, who oversees the program as Editor in Chief of EdTech Digest. “There are now thousands of startups, apps, and companies working in edtech, more than ever before. Shining a spotlight on the best and brightest, we intend to generate even more activity in this sector to continue pushing forward a slow revolution for the benefit of future generations.”

Belkin Tablet Stage and Stage App

Outfitting individual classrooms with an interactive whiteboard, document camera and computer can add up to several thousand dollars each, and requires extensive training and technical support. Belkin’s Tablet Stage transforms a tablet into an interactive classroom tool at a fraction of this cost. Educators can easily present, conduct a video conference, record a tutorial video, or capture perfect pictures with the mobile device of their choice with the Stage App.

Belkin’s free Stage App for iPad adds interactive capabilities to the Tablet Stage, enabling users to capture live video and overlay text, labels, or highlight key points throughout presentations. Together with Stage App, Stage makes it simple to showcase a lesson or capture content with the iPad.

Belkin Store and Charge

Store and Charge offers an elegant, accessible, and affordable mobile device management solution designed to optimize digital learning. With the ability to store and charge up 10 devices simultaneously, the station makes it easy to keep tablets, thin and light laptops, and e-readers organized, available, fully charged, and ready for classroom use.

The station can store and charge different kinds of devices at the same time, each with its own charging cable or adapter, with an open setup that does not interfere with wireless syncing. Because it is platform agnostic, Store and Charge is suitable for most mobile deployments including all generations of Chromebooks, iPads, Samsung Galaxy, Samsung Note, and up to 13-inch laptops. Its small footprint reduces valuable table top space requirements when in use, and when stored, up to three stations can be mounted on a single cart.

“Belkin is committed to understanding the technology challenges faced by teachers and students, as we continue to innovate solutions that enhance today’s dynamic, digital learning environment,” said Jon Roepke, senior product manager, Business Division, Belkin International. “This recognition by EdTech Digest is a testament to our customer-driven approach to product design and developing the best quality classroom solutions at prices schools can afford.”
