Greenlight Introduces New Pricing For Popular Control System Monitoring Service

greenlight pricing

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – March 2015 – Greenlight Control LLC, developer of the popular cloud based service Greenlight, announced a price reduction per system to just $10 per month.  The new price, down from a launch price of $249 per year, makes an outstanding value even better.

“For anyone who was on the fence about implementing Greenlight service, this is a huge motivation to start doing so now,” said Greenlight CEO Steve Hosterman. “We are giving dealers every incentive to improve their service departments, from an amazing new price to one-on-one assistance while getting started.”

Greenlight has the strongest offering of any control system monitoring service, and is the only product that allows dealers to track AMX, Crestron, and RTI systems all from one web based interface. Greenlight drastically reduces costly onsite service calls by giving the dealer all of the tools necessary to remotely monitor, troubleshoot and repair client systems from anywhere in the world.

“Dealers across the country and around the world rely on Greenlight to keep their customers happy,” said Hosterman. “We listened to dealers who told us they wanted a flat monthly price.  Now rolling Greenlight into a service contract is a no-brainer.”

In addition to the new price, dealers have discrete control over which systems get charged for monitoring.  If a customer decides to not renew a service contract, the dealer can simply “un-license” that system and no longer pay for Greenlight service.  Dealers only pay for exactly what they need.

Kensington Addresses the Challenges of Securing Enterprise BYOD with Its Industry-Leading Physical Security Solutions; more than 132 Million Feet of Computer Locks Sold

Kensington_logo_smallfor_newmedia

Leading Analyst Paper Validates the Need for Security Locks as First-Line-of-Defense in Overall Security Strategy

Redwood Shores, CA, February 3, 2015 – Kensington, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple. computing accessories, today announced it has sold more than 132 million feet of computer locks, enough to stretch around the world. In September, the company revealed it had sold 20 million units of its comprehensive family of security products for mobile devices and PCs, a figure representing a 70 percent market share. As the trend of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) continues to build momentum, Kensington is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing concern around computing and security issues.

Research shows that the BYOD phenomenon continues to grow. In a recent IDC survey of U.S-based IT buyers, fully one-third said their company had already instituted a formal BYOD policy, and another 19 percent said they expected to institute a formal policy in the near term. The survey also revealed that informal support is notably higher and that while BYOD comes with many positive features, it poses daunting security challenges for even the best IT organizations.

In a recently published Analyst Connection, “The Role of Physical Security in a BYOD World,” (January 2015) IDC addresses the proliferation of BYOD and the role that physical security plays in an overall security strategy. IT departments are expected to secure a variety of notebooks and desktops, as well as phones and tablets running a wide range of operating systems. Left to their own devices, many people fail to follow even the most simple and straightforward security measures. As mobile devices proliferate, IDC expects physical security, such as device locking mechanisms, to become equally important in this domain. The paper, available on Kensington’s web site at kensington.com/IDCBYOD, outlines available solutions and best practices for implementing physical security.

“With more than two decades of experience providing security products, Kensington has a keen understanding of the first-line-of-defense requirements for protecting laptops, tablets and smartphones,” said Louie Yao, Global Product Marketing Manager, Kensington. “The demand for physical security and BYOD security peace-of-mind will only continue to grow for devices and the data they store. BYOD is becoming increasingly prevalent, as are the heightened number of data breaches among industry-leading brands. We continue to lead innovation in this market, most recently with the introduction of the new MiniSaver Mobile Lock, the thinnest security lock for Ultrabooks and tablets, and the new patented Cleat Locking Design. Kensington will continue to build on what has become known as the industry standard for physical security.”

Kensington is the market leader in locking-slot specifications, locking technology and physical device locks. With more than 20 million security locks sold and integrated into over 1 billion notebooks, projectors and tablets since 1990, Kensington is the de facto standard in security slot technology. For more than 20 years, Kensington has delivered security products to businesses, large and small, including leading retailers, telecommunications companies, health providers and global financial institutions — as well as the technology manufacturers that supply them.

Over its history, Kensington has delivered security products that are compatible with nearly every major device manufacturer — including Dell®, HP®, Lenovo®, Toshiba®, and Samsung®. In fact, 95 percent of all business laptops, incorporate the Kensington Security Slot.

Kensington Unveils Industry’s Thinnest Security Lock Design for Ultrabooks and Tablets

New MiniSaver™ Mobile Lock Features Patented Cleat™ Locking Design for BYOD Security Peace-of-Mind

LAS VEGAS, NV, January 6, 2015 – Kensington, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple. computing accessories, today announced the MiniSaver Mobile Lock, the industry’s thinnest security lock system with the Kensington mini security slot technologyfor use on ultra-thin mobile devices including Ultrabooks and tablets. Featuring a new patented Cleat locking design with an incomparably small attach point, the MiniSaver delivers professional-grade strength to resist pulls and tampering in a space that is as small as a micro USB connector or audio jack.

The new MiniSaver has been developed to address the increasing security needs of mobile-device users in the workplace. According to IDC, as many as 155 million smartphones and almost four million tablets will be leveraged for business purposes in 2014[1]. Further underscoring BYOD demand, as many as 53 percent of information workers today use three or more devices[2].

“Today’s increasingly mobile workforce is creating more demand than ever for ultra-thin devices and those devices need protection to prevent the mounting risk of theft and resulting data breaches,” said Judy Barker, Global Product Manager, Kensington. “The first-line-of-defense provided by physical security locks can stave off device theft and save businesses and their employees from the costly exposure of a data breach. With our revolutionary MiniSaver design, now protection is not only easy but sleek and convenient as well.”

The MiniSaver Mobile Lock is a highly versatile security solution for on-the-go professionals who use ultra-thin, lightweight devices and need protection in the office, or while working on the road and in public places. Key features include:

  • Cleat locking technology – featuring retracting “claws” which grab on to the internal sides of the security slot, the MiniSaver creates a strong connection between the device shell and the lock.
  • Off-body lock – using a groundbreaking design, the MiniSaver moves the main lock housing away from the device for improved flexibility which prevents interference with surrounding ports and jacks used for other accessories.
  • One-handed operation – A simple push-button action with a single hand can engage the lock securely inside the security slot.
  • Cut-resistant cable – An engineered carbon steel and protective plastic sheath give the MiniSaver the cut-resistance and theft-resistance of much thicker cables while delivering easier mobility.
  • Pivot and rotate cable – supporting a special hinge the MiniSaver creates great freedom of movement and eliminates awkward angles so that the key may be easily inserted.

“With the MiniSaver, Kensington is upping the game for physical security for even the thinnest of today’s mobile devices,” said Jan Solar, Worldwide Marketing and Portfolio Management, Lenovo. “By taking the company’s decades of security lock expertise and applying it to address the new demands of today’s thin, lightweight devices, Kensington is changing the shape of secure mobile computing.”

Kensington is the market leader in locking-slot specifications, locking technology and physical device locks. With more than 20 million security locks sold and integrated into over one billion notebooks, projectors and tablets since 1990, Kensington is the de facto standard in security slot technology.

The MiniSaver Mobile Lock is available now with pricing starting at $59.99. For more information, visit: www.kensington.com/MiniSaver or see the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixo3QSkE1CM.

Renewed Vision Drives Interactive Media Exhibit at John C. Maxwell Leadership Center

Velocity Productions integrates interactive video wall, custom iOS app with ProVideoPlayer2 software to maximize playback quality and flexibility

ATLANTA, January 5, 2015 — The John C. Maxwell Leadership Center at 12Stone Church in Atlanta honors the life and impact of John’s global and generational leadership as an internationally recognized leadership speaker, author and pastor. In celebration of his continuing legacy, visitors today enjoy interactive audio-visual presentations of John’s life and achievements across an immersive video wall controllable from several user stations. The engaging video and graphical content is driven exclusively by Renewed Vision’s ProVideoPlayer 2 (PVP2) software, bringing exceptional reliability and quality to a cost-efficient playback infrastructure.

Maxwell Center PVP2 w-iPad Station

RV PVP2 Maxwell Center

Velocity Productions, an Atlanta-based production and systems integration company, was tasked with building out the video wall on a curved wall, using a custom mounting system to cleanly integrate multiple 46-inch Barco monitors in a four-wide, three-tall configuration. The challenging integration project influenced the Velocity Productions team to evaluate technologies on the playback side that would not only deliver reliability and quality, but also bring balance to equipment and labor costs; and maintain operational simplicity moving forward.

“We primarily selected PVP2 for its low cost and ease of use, ensuring long-term value and a quick return on investment,” said Brian Morrison, director of AV integration, Velocity Productions. “It’s affordable, and straightforward operationally. The layouts are appealing, and the playlists are easy to create and manage. Simply put, we wanted something that works well on a daily basis and provides the quality of other high-end playback systems on the market — without the expense. That said, PVP2 is enabling the center to achieve some very interesting applications.”

The PVP2 software resides on a Mac Pro at the core of the operation, delivering two display port signals to a DVI adapter to transport signals to the video wall. With the video wall arranged in a 4×3 configuration, Velocity Productions programmed the PVP2 software to split the wall into two, 2×3 sections, sending each a 1920×1080 image. The video monitors then break up the video signal across all monitors in each 2×3 section. Next to the video wall, visitors can trigger content using a Savant Systems six-button controller to drive the first level of interactivity.

Velocity Productions also developed a custom Savant Systems iOS app to control the video wall content. PVP2 integrates with a Savant Systems controller via the DMX over Artnet protocol to add a second interactive element to the experience for the staff. This allows staff to scroll through and recall any of eight educational videos produced exclusively for the John C. Maxwell Center from an iPad, iPhone or Apple laptop. The eight videos otherwise rotate across the video wall on a continuous basis, all built around John’s leadership reputation with each video dedicated to a specific time in his life.

“PVP2 really gave us the flexibility to align the layouts and content to the screens, which was not easy given the unusual video wall format,” said Morrison. “The software provides a level of adjustability without complexity. While there is a feature that allows us to add layers for a richer output, we’re outputting a simple setup of layers where we’re matching outputs to signals coming and out. But, we could make every single screen unique, and that ability to adjust moving forward is pertinent to its long-term value.

“Beyond that, the interoperability between PVP2 and Savant Systems was key in really taking the experience to a higher level,” added Morrison. “From an integration perspective, it was easy as bridging the two systems together over the network. Visitors to the center benefit the most, using our custom iOS app to watch and listen to presentations across several personal stations. In the future, we anticipate adding 4K content to the video wall, which PVP2 natively supports. We see many interesting opportunities with this installation moving forward.”

The built-in stylus holder means fewer fingers on the iPad Air Retina display, and less chance of spreading germs during the cold and flu season.
  • BlackBelt™ Rugged Case: The Kensington BlackBelt Series of rugged cases offers military-grade tablet protection in three degrees to cover a variety of needs, so the iPad Air or iPad mini can be used in rough environments without fear. Every model features a tough, yet lightweight band that surrounds the tablet and was designed to meet the U.S. military’s MIL-STD-810 testing protocols for all-around defense against drops and scratches. Because the iPad’s curves are particularly vulnerable to damage, the cases offer extra thick corner protection. A raised bezel preserves the iPad screen, and a clear back protector provides additional insurance against scratches. The 1st and 2nd degree cases preserve access to all iPad Air or iPad mini ports, controls and cameras, making charging and syncing easy. The 3rd degree case utilizes port covers to protect the tablet from dust and debris.
  • 48W 4-Port USB Charger: Kensington’s 48W 4-Port USB Charger allows users to power up to four tablets and smartphones on their desk at the same time using PowerWhiz™ Technology. This technology allows almost any device to be plugged into the charger because it automatically recognizes a device and gives it the fastest charge possible while remaining completely circuit safe. Users can mix and match any combination of devices into any of the four USB ports, and each port can carry up to 2.4 AMPs of power to ensure that even tablets get a speedy charge. Additionally, the charger only needs a single wall socket to charge device batteries.

In addition to showcasing its products, Kensington will host a Happy Hour on January 6 and 7 at the Da Vinci II Ballroom, 5-6 p.m. Guests are invited to come by Kensington’s “SecureBack Bar” for a beverage, followed by a swing with a golf club simulator for a chance to win prizes.

Gotham ‘Conquers’ HBO Mini-Series With Yamaha QL/Rio Assist

Paul_Padilla Larry Provost Yamaha QL5

BUENA PARK, Calif.—HBO’s miniseries Show Me A Hero from The Wire co-creator David Simon, is based on a non-fiction book by Lisa Belkin. The six-hour mini stars Oscar Isaac as Nick Wasicsko, the youngest big-city mayor in the nation, who finds himself thrust into the center of a racial controversy when a federal court orders him to build a small number of low-income housing units in the white neighborhoods of his town, Yonkers, New York during 1988-1992. His attempt to do so tears the city apart, paralyzes the municipal government and, ultimately, destroys his political future.

Gotham Sound and Communications in New York City was brought in to augment the audio production using a new Yamaha QL5 Series Digital Console and Rio1608-D input/output box. “We recreated many meetings in the City Council Chamber, during which there were large heckling crowds hurling insults at the Mayor and Council, states Frank Stettner, production sound mixer for the show. The Mayor and Council all had microphones in front of them that we wanted to make practical to cover their scripted dialog.”

The heckling crowd consists of five different scripted hecklers plus a yelling crowd. “My normal setup is an 8-channel Cooper CS 208 D mixer with its direct outs feeding an 8-input Dante device, but it would not provide me with enough inputs, says Stettner. The show’s workflow requires me to mix mono all audio sources in real time to Track 1 on a pair of Sound Devices 970 64-track digital recorders for syncing to picture for the Dailies. I record all stems used in that mix to isolated tracks for use in post-production.”

Stettner said the big council scenes got beyond both his number of inputs and his number of fingers. With 15 total speaking parts, it became necessary to expand the system so he contacted Peter Schneider at Gotham Sound who suggested the Yamaha QL and Rio as the best way to meet the scene’s needs. “It seamlessly integrated with my existing Dante based gear,” notes Stettner.

Paul Padilla, the on-location consultant from Gotham Sound, put together and installed the QL and set up the computer network that tied all parts together. “Using the Rio with the QL gave us a lot of flexibility, Padilla said. It allowed us to route audio to and from a remote room without the need to run additional cable. Interfacing the Yamaha QL with another Dante base rig made for a very pleasurable experience.”

Once Stettner rolled his cart into the room where the QL was setup after finishing some smaller scenes elsewhere in the building, the team connected the network, time code, word clock, and assigned the direct outs to the 970 inputs quickly via Dante; ready long before the lighting and camera setup was completed.

“Specifically, the workflow consists of the Yamaha Rio connected to the 12 practical, historically accurate, Shure SM57s. This was then brought via Cat5 to Gotham’s network hub, which connected my system and computer to the QL, Stettner continues. The mics were routed to the QL inputs and the 970 Iso tracks via Dante. Larry Provost, my colleague, then used the Yamaha QL to make a mono sub mix of the fixed mics following the script. I took this sub mix into my Cooper and added it to the mono Dailies mix along with the five radio mic sources I had on the scene’s protesters plus a boom mic for the crowd.”

“Augmenting the show’s main audio package with the Yamaha QL mixer has worked out rather nicely and seamlessly integrates, thanks to Dante,” notes Peter Schneider, Gotham Sound and Communications.

Stettner said the flexibility of using the Yamaha QL and Rio made what would have been a long, stressful and time-consuming cable mess in the old analog days, into a fast efficient setup. “Gotham and Yamaha make the good work we do even more possible.”

Show Me a Hero will air on HBO during 2015.

Kensington Survey Data Reveals that 73% of Organizations Say BYOD Creates Greater Security Risks

Industry Study Finds that 55% of Enterprises Plan to Implement Physical Security Locks for Laptops, Notebooks and Mobile Devices in 2015

Redwood Shores, CA, November 11, 2014– Kensington, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple. computing accessories, today announced findings from a North American survey on the security risks created by bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies in the enterprise. Findings show 73 percent say that BYOD represents greater security risks for their organization, and yet 59 percent still approve the use of personal devices for business usage.

According to MarketsandMarkets, a leading research and consulting firm, has completed a new global market forecast for BYOD and enterprise mobility. The firm projects the BYOD market to nearly quadruple in size over the next four years. Currently valued at $72 billion, MarketsandMarkets expects annual growth of 26.6 percent for a projected value of $284 billion by 20191.

The survey – summarized in a new infographic at Kensington.comwhich was conducted in the fourth quarter of 2014, found that across multiple B2B vertical industries – including Education, Healthcare, Financial Services, Retail and Manufacturing – CEOs, CIOs, CSO, and IT professionals are significantly concerned with how BYOD is impacting the security of their enterprise environments. To address these concerns a number of physical security measures are being leveraged with varying adoption and as many as 55 percent report that they are considering further investments in this security area.

Among the physical security measures being used, the simplicity of using device locking mechanisms is among the most cost effective and reliable solutions an organization can put in place.

Physical security measures in use by survey respondents included:

  • 64 percent use employee training and guidelines
  • 61 percent use anti-malware and encryption
  • 55 percent have employed compliance and governance policies
  • 48 percent use data loss prevention and authentication solutions

“With the rapid rise in the use of BYOD mobile devices and laptops, organizations need to consider protecting their employees devices with physical security locks to protect them from the risk of theft and putting critical business and personal data into the wrong hands,” said Judy Barker, Global Product Marketing Manager, Kensington.  “By employing simple and secure device locking products, organizations can safeguard their data and mobile assets with an added layer of protection”

Kensington invented the first lock more than 20 years ago, and consistently introduces new, innovative products and solutions designed to protect organizations’ most vital assets — computing devices and confidential data. Kensington’s patented slot designs are integrated into over 20 million leading computing devices including Dell®, HP® and Lenovo® for an additional layer of physical security for enterprises worldwide. Kensington’s family of physical security accessories, including ClickSafe®, MicroSaver®, SecureBack, Desktop and Peripherals locking kit, and the industry standard Kensington Security Slot, is designed to address the escalating demand for protection against loss of devices and data.

Kensington’s Master Key Solutions remove the worry of financial data loss by ensuring a more secure office environment to minimize risk and maximize profit. Master Access Solutions offer more control

over equipment while safeguarding employees from laptop and data theft. Individuals are allowed access to their own devices, while the IT manager has control of all of the equipment and data.
