Visual Surveillance Manufacturer IC Realtime Opens Doors for Integrators to Tap Many Vertical Markets via Verizon 4G LTE Network

Video Surveillance Products Leader IC Realtime Joins Verizon Partner Program

Joint national program opens doors for integrators to tap vertical markets by deploying
custom-tailored HD video surveillance systems transmitted via Verizon Wireless; represents great opportunities for integrators to create recurring monthly revenues

Pompano Beach, FL – May 1, 2013 – IC Realtime, a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced visual surveillance solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, governmental and educational channels, today announced that it has joined the Verizon Partner program. The move is the first initiative by IC Realtime’s M2M (Machine-to-Machine) Advisors Group, a newly-formed division operating from within its Pompano Beach, Florida headquarters.

Under the program IC Realtime and Verizon Wireless Connected Technologies sales teams will work with qualified IC Realtime integration companies (classified by IC Realtime as its M2M Master Integrators) to develop and deploy custom-tailored HD video surveillance solutions via the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.

According to IC Realtime’s M2M Advisor Group President Adam Cohen, the types of applications span residential, commercial and industrial to local, state and federal branches of government.

”The program helps integrators branch-out into emerging vertical markets such as remote autonomous solar-powered systems; video over cellular; cloud-based HD-video and data storage; remote M2M command and control, and internet and video redundancy,” says Cohen. “These powerful new offerings will allow them to sell services and build recurring monthly revenue streams previously deemed unobtainable or perhaps unforeseen.”

To help integrators seize the wide range of opportunities that exist, IC Realtime will aggregate talent from its consortium of integration companies, training them in Megapixel IP video over cellular networks, command and control over remote locations, autonomous solar systems, and wireless technology.

“Such a network of skilled connected technology experts can assist the business interests of manufacturers, service providers, integrators, and consumers of electronic physical security equipment,” adds Cohen. “We believe that our pool of M2M Master Integrators will be the catalyst for a global paradigm shift in how security is procured, installed and serviced.”

Useful for the venture will be Video iVAULT™, an M2M cloud-based platform that IC Realtime created to provide live video on demand, without the need for special software or complicated hardware solutions. This platform allows wireless cameras and recorders to send event video and alerts to the IC Realtime Cloud to be securely stored long-term via wireless networks. Additionally, this solution further reduces costs by limiting the amount of video storage devices needed to be deployed onsite.

IC Realtime has also created a failover option for its DVR / NVR systems solutions to monitor in real time, grant access, communicate, and secure environments via the Verizon network. This redundancy feature provides crucial backup when power and internet lines go down. According to Cohen, the failover option is yet another example of previously untapped revenue source for integrators.

For all IC Realtime media inquiries, please contact Paul Muto at 631.849.4301 or via email at paul@mutocomm.com.

Belkin Introduces New Mobile Device Management System for K-12 Education

Store and Charge Station Keeps Tablets, Laptops and eReaders Organized, Available, and Fully Charged for Less Hassle and More Learning in the Classroom

PLAYA VISTA, CA  – Belkin, a trusted leader of technology solutions for office, classroom, IT infrastructure, and mobile environments, announced today its new Store and Charge station for K-12 education environments. Store and Charge offers an elegant, accessible, and affordable mobile device management solution designed to optimize digital learning. With the ability to store and charge up 10 devices simultaneously, the station makes it easy to keep tablets, thin and light laptops, and e-readers organized, available, fully charged, and ready for classroom use.

The station can store and charge different kinds of devices at the same time, each with its own charging cable or adapter, with an open setup that does not interfere with wireless syncing. Because it is platform agnostic, Store and Charge is suitable for most mobile deployments including all generations of Chromebooks, iPads, Samsung Galaxy, Samsung Note, and up to 13-inch laptops. Its small footprint reduces valuable table top space requirements when in use, and when stored, up to three stations can be mounted on a single cart. Other distinguishing attributes include a surge-protected power supply that protects device chargers from voltage spikes, wide device slots to accommodate most tablet cases, and integrated cable management.

“While mobile devices can provide tremendous advantages in today’s increasing digital learning environment, teachers and administrators still struggle with integrating them in a seamless way,” said Jon Roepke, senior product manager, Business Division, Belkin International. “Our goal was to design a product that would optimize the use of mobile devices in the classroom setting, enabling them to deliver greater value. Store and Charge makes it easy to deploy and support tablets and laptops, which means less hassle for teachers and more learning for students.”

The Belkin Store and Charge makes it easy for teachers and students to distribute, store, and charge mobile devices in the classroom with additional features that include:

  • Compatibility on standard AV carts for ease of transport from classroom to classroom or tabletop to storage location
  • Easy-to-reach angles for storing and charging up to 10 tablet devices
  • Built-in cable management features that minimize tangles and clutter
  • Labeling space for personalization and identification
  • 10 convenient surge-protected AC outlets that fit most charging adapters
  • Surface mounting features that allow each unit to be securely attached to tables or carts

Visual Unity Bring Video On Demand To Turkish Viewers

Leading multimedia solutions provider Visual Unity has helped Turkish company Calinos Entertainment to deliver a complete Video on Demand service.

Based in Istanbul, Calinos Entertainment was established in 1997 as a content distribution company supplying television and film programmes to service providers and channels. With Visual Unity’s expertise, the company has now expanded its operations to deliver a Video on Demand service directly to their subscribers on any screen or connected device.

Visual Unity provided Calinos Entertainment with the technology needed to deliver its new service. The technical infrastructure is based on Visual Unity’s award-winning vuMediaTM Over the Top (OTT) content solution that allows broadcasters to manage, monetize and monitor delivery of content to multiscreens.

Tomas Petru, CEO of Visual Unity, says: ““Visual Unity won this contract on the basis of our proven expertise in multiscreen integration. With over 20 years’ experience in architecting, building and technically supporting linear broadcast to multiscreen solutions we demonstrated to Calinos Entertainment our ability to successfully deliver VoD solutions similar to customers such as voyo.cz, cinema.cz and TopFun.”

Visual Unity’s vuMedia™ platform supports comprehensive VoD services and integrates with billing and CRM processes. For this project, Visual Unity provided a content management system with GUI and API access, DMR protection, software to play back and control video content on the web, analytics, delivery and support for mobile devices.

In addition, Visual Unity also helped the broadcaster to build a feature-rich VoD portal that contains thousands of films, dramas and popular television programmes. This Cloud-based service allows Calinos Entertainment to publish its content online, thus alleviating the need to build an expensive, in-house and resource-intensive media library.

“Monetization is not just about selling your content – it is about building business awareness and a communication strategy around your brand,” adds Gabriel Dusil, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Strategy at Visual Unity. “We are confident that by using our proven vuMedia™ technology Calinos Entertainment can now deliver a cutting-edge viewing experience to its audiences on any screen or connected device.”

Dobil Labs Protects AV Systems at Case Western Reserve University with RackLink™

In business for 42 years, Pittsburgh-based AV integrator Dobil Laboratories has earned a reputation as a leader in providing intelligent solutions and exceptional service and support for the higher education, corporate and house-of-worship markets.

The company recently has been involved in an ongoing project to upgrade existing analog AV installations in classrooms at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Asked about the project, Dobil AV Sales Engineer David Rosenberger says, “We’ve been refreshing a lot of their older AV systems which isn’t uncommon given newer digital technology and the industry having evolved from coaxial to the twisted pair and IT world. We’re getting more into network switchers and control processors and we have to power cycle or reboot these types of devices, whether it’s a power spike or some of the more consumer-based network switches that don’t always cooperate with our systems.”

Fortunately, Middle Atlantic Products’ RackLink power management system has proved to be a valuable asset in coming to terms with these problems.

“RackLink is not only great for us,” Rosenberger points out, “but also a big help for on campus support because the CWRU technicians can go to the phone app and choose to reboot whatever piece of gear they want to. It’s amazing. The troubleshooting response time is drastically reduced and if something does go wrong, we can log in and see exactly what the problem is, for example, if it’s a power spike. That alone is huge for us, which explains why we’ve been including RackLink into every one of the systems we’ve been putting up there, and we’re up to 40 systems by now.”

Dobil’s classroom systems for Case Western Reserve typically include a Crestron Digital Media system capable of multiple digital and analog sources. These include digital and analog laptop inputs and a digital PC input that feed into the 8×8 Digital Media matrix switcher. A Crestron V-15 (15” HD touch panel) functions as the user interface that controls the entire system. Dobil also uses an Epson G5750 projector to get the digital 1080p signal to the screen and every room is connected to Crestron’s Fusion remote management software. Now each system also includes the protection, cost and time saving provided by RackLink.

Intelligent power management and monitoring with remote and local access are key says David, “because we want to protect our client’s investment in the high-end systems they’ve put into their classrooms. We want to make sure that we can protect against something as basic as a power surge or lightning strike.”

“These are existing buildings, and we have no idea what the quality of the AC service is,” adds Dobil CEO and President Don Rosenberger. “So that leaves us on our own to safeguard the equipment we install and ensure that it will work. RackLink provides protection and also lets us reset the router, the processor, whatever piece of equipment happens to lock up. All digital electronics are sensitive and don’t respond well to spikes, noise and surges. We rely on RackLink to protect the gear and cut down on our maintenance visits, which reduces classroom downtime.”

“Time savings also are important,” adds David. “Instead of having to send out a tech across campus, RackLink will show them that a certain room isn’t functioning or getting audio, or the touch panel in that room isn’t communicating with anything. Then they just have to log onto the app, reboot the processor or touch panel and they have a solution without the 15 or 20-minute response time just to get to the room.”

“These problems have existed for a while, but no one made a product with all of the elements in one piece,” concludes Don. “There were other units where you could recycle the sequence or the AC. There were filters and monitoring units, but no one put it all in one rack unit. We band-aided three different manufacturers’ units together but that was a clunky solution. Middle Atlantic has done it in one box with all of the stuff we needed and it works simply and easily.

“They’re the cream of the crop. Everything they make is of the highest quality. RackLink is a typical Middle Atlantic product, very well done, very well thought out and complete. It does everything right; there’s nothing it does poorly. It’s a comprehensive solution.”
