H-P Products Vroom® Garage Vac Conveniently Tackles Car and Garage Messes

A valuable add-on product for garage door installers and other technology integration specialists, the Vroom Garage Vac comes in flush-mount and surface mount models and installs in 10 minutes or less.

Louisville, OH – May 14, 2014 – H-P Products, a leading manufacturer of central vacuums and custom tubing-related products, is proud to announce the launch of its new Vroom® Garage Vac, the perfect accessory for any modern garage, workshop or condo. Needing only 2.5 square feet of wall space, the Vroom Garage Vac uses a 40-foot expandable hose to remove tough-to-reach dirt and debris from nooks and crannies without requiring users to lug a bulky shop vac or awkward handheld vacuum everywhere they go.

The Vroom Garage Vac comes in two models; a flush-mount model that can be recess mounted inside a 2×4 stud wall for low profile hard wire installations, or a surface mount version that can be installed anywhere. Both models come with five attachment tools to tackle any cleaning job, including: a telescoping wand and floor tool, a two-piece upholstery tool with horsehair, a dashboard brush, and a flexible crevice tool, all of which are integrated  into the tool caddy or a convenient wall mount.

Putting traditional “shop-vacs” to shame, the Vroom® Garage Vac is equipped with a 12-amp motor for maximum suction and performance, and it comes with an industry-best six year warranty. The easily-replaceable five-layer, one-gallon microfiber filtration bag ensures no dust, debris, or allergens are exhausted, significantly improving the air quality where the Garage Vac is used.

“It’s no secret garages and basements tend to be some of the messiest areas in the house with some of the poorest air quality,” said Amy Wesely, H-P Products Marketing Manager. “The Vroom Garage Vac was designed top to bottom for the demands of garages and workshops and it is the best offense against sawdust, car dirt, sand, and all the other debris that invade and accumulate. Plus, it’s great as a low-profile central vacuum system for condos or smaller homes.”

According to the 11th Annual State of the Builder Market Study done jointly by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), 18 percent of all new homes included central vacuum. That is a 64 percent increase since 2007, making it the second-fastest growing technology product category installed in new homes behind only home theater. It is also one of the most profitable categories for installers, frequently earning 50-point margins.

The Garage Vac presents easy upsell opportunities when working with new build projects and clients getting new garage door installations. The Garage Vac’s size and weight (only nine pounds) make it a great buy for workspaces, small businesses, and condos that would benefit from a convenient, space-saving wall-mounted vacuum system.

Wesely continued, “From an installers perspective, there’s never been a better time to sell central vacuum systems. Demand is high, competition is low and there are innovative products like the Garage Vac that are ideal for a multitude of difference customers and projects. ”

RTW Exhibits Masterclass PlugIns, LQL Software and TouchMonitor Family of Meters at BroadcastAsia 2014

Broad Range of Tools Give More Customers Access to Renowned Company Products

MARINA BAY SANDS, SINGAPORE, MAY 14, 2014 – RTW, a leading vendor of visual audio meters and monitoring devices for professional broadcast, production, post production and quality control, is pleased to exhibit its new RTW Loudness Tools from the new Masterclass PlugIns range of software, the LQL Loudness Quality Logger software and its TM3, TM7 and TM9 TouchMonitor audio meters at this year’s BroadcastAsia Show (Booth 5E6-01).

Masterclass PlugIns
The new Masterclass PlugIns software provides RTW’s renowned metering tools as standard-format plug-ins for Windows and Mac OS platforms, allowing a larger number of RTW customers to access the tools. The RTW Loudness Tools are the first of the company’s products available as part of the new software.

The RTW Masterclass PlugIns Loudness Tools visually depicts audio with all relevant level and loudness values as specified by international standards. Conforming to the EBU R128 loudness standard, as well as ITU-R BS.1770-3/1771-1, ATSC A/85, ARIB, OP-59, AGCOM, CalmAct and custom as well as SPL mode, it is a handy tool for quality control, offering the precision and ease of use required to ensure compliance with custom specifications. Operation of the plug-in is highly intuitive, so that even users without a great deal of experience in monitoring loudness can use it effectively. The plug-in includes RTW’s Peak Program Meter, TruePeak, and Spot Correlator instruments and also offers all common loudness displays plus MagicLRA mode or SPL view.

The user interface of each plug-in is based on the award-winning RTW TouchMonitor TM7 and TM9 units, and offers the same degree of functionality and clarity as the hardware models. The instruments provide graphical/numerical, as well as bargraph views, and can be freely rearranged and scaled. Various function parameters, such as integration time, operational range and tolerance, along with a number of viewing options for metering data and scales, offer extra flexibility. The plug-in window dimensions can be set to the native resolution of RTW TouchMonitor display screens, including 480×272, 800×480, 1024×800 (landscape view) or 272×480, 480×800, 800×1024 (portrait view). Users can store all setups and layouts as presets in their DAWs.

The RTW Masterclass PlugIns Loudness Tools require Windows 7/8 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Mac OS 10.6 or higher. RTW has first made them available in the VST 2.4 format for Windows systems and the RTAS format for Mac OS. VST, RTAS and native AAX64 support on the two platforms will follow.

LQL Quality Logger Software
The LQL is a natural extension of RTW’s range of innovative software options for the 7- and 9-inch line of TouchMonitor audio meters, as it was developed for logging, true-peak data analysis and reporting. It is compatible with the TM7, TMR7 and TM9 TouchMonitor line of products running with the Logging Data Server license (SW20014).

Once activated, LQL enables measured Loudness and TruePeak data to be derived directly via an IP connection from a capable TouchMonitor audio meter, as well as from external storage media such as a USB stick. The software also includes dual limit weighting, status information, marker and various other reporting features. The new PC software is free of charge to users; however the SW20014 Logging Data Server license is required to enable a TM7, TMR7 or TM9 series meter to be compatible with data export and additional display functions.

TM3, TM7 and TM9 TouchMonitors
Controlled using a touch-sensitive display, the TM3 TouchMonitor has a budget-friendly base price, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and a stylish exterior allowing for horizontal and vertical placement. It includes a large number of graphical and numerical instruments showing single-channel and summing-loudness bargraphs, PPM, true peak, SPL, loudness range (LRA), dialnorm and correlation. It offers comprehensive loudness metering in compliance with all globally relevant standards, including EBU R128, ITU BS.1770-3/1771-1, ATSC A/85,ARIB, OP-59, AGCOM, CalmAct and custom as well as SPL mode. As with all TouchMonitor products, it features the Magic LRA instrument, designed by RTW for intuitive visualization of the loudness range and integrated-loudness parameters.

The TM7 and TM9 TouchMonitors, which include the innovative Magic LRA instrument, feature a seven- and nine-inch touch-sensitive display, respectively, and provide unparalleled flexibility and modularity combined with intuitive control. The software visualizes multiple sources simultaneously. Both support displaying the same signal on multiple instruments in parallel, each with dedicated defaults with both horizontal and vertical operation. The system visualizes up to 16 analog and/or digital sources at the same time.

The TM9 is also capable of providing a view of up to 32 digital channels when the 3G-SDI option is implemented. Along with RTW’s entire TouchMonitor range, the TM7 and TM9 were created to help adhere to all major industry loudness standards, including EBU R128, ITU BS.1770-3/1771-1, ATSC A/85, ARIB, OP-59, AGCOM, CalmAct and custom as well as SPL mode.

HARMAN’s Crown Introduces Its DCi Network Display Amplifiers With Front Panel Display and AVB Connectivity

ELKHART, Indiana — HARMAN’s Crown Audio today announced it is expanding its DriveCore Install (DCi) Series amplifier range with the introduction of its DCi Network Display 8|600ND and 4|1250ND power amplifiers, featuring front-panel status displays and AVB (Audio Video Bridging) connectivity. The new eight- and four-channel DCi Network Display amplifiers will be the first professional audio amplifier to be certified by the AVnu Alliance. DCi Network Display amplifiers will deliver reliable audio performance and networked operation in AVB-based audio/video systems.

“Since their recent introduction our Crown DCi Series amplifiers have set a new standard for installed sound, and our new DCI Network Display amplifiers build upon this industry-leading performance by offering certifiable compatibility with AVB-based installations, along with easy setup and operation and unshakable reliability. Combining DriveCore technology with AVB represents another first from Crown as we continue to lead the way for professional amplifier innovation for the most demanding large-scale environments,” said Daniel Saenz, Business Segement Manager, Crown Audio.

Both DCi Network Display amplifiers feature a front-panel display and LED indicators that provide at-a-glance indication of key parameters. A large multifunction knob and push buttons enable instant access to control functions. The amplifiers are compatible with HARMAN’s HiQnet Audio Architect™ system setup and control software and utilize TCP/IP-based protocol in HiQnet for network monitoring and control.

The eight-channel DCi 8|600ND delivers 600W into 8 ohms (300, 600 and 300W into 16, 4 and 2 ohms) and the four-channel DCi 4|1250ND provides 1250W into 8, 4 or 2 ohms (625W into 16 ohms). Both amplifiers offer direct drive “constant voltage” capabilities for 70Vrms and 100Vrms amplification without the need for a step-up transformer, yielding higher audio quality in distributed audio applications with power outputs of 1250W and 600W respectively.

Like all Crown DCi Series amplifiers, the DCi 8|600ND and DCi 4|1250ND utilize HARMAN’s proprietary DriveCore amplifier IC chip for powerful, highly efficient operation from a compact form factor measuring just 2 RU high. The DriveCore chip combines the amplifier driver stage into the power output stage along with additional audio-signal functions, yet is about the size of a postage stamp. The DriveCore-based Class D, next-generation PWM design dramatically reduces size and power consumption and yields much more energy-efficient operation.

Both amplifiers provide a host of networking and control features to ensure reliable operation, including continuous load monitoring, comprehensive error reporting, pilot tone monitoring and programmable general purpose input/output (GPIO) ports. The DCi 8|600ND and DCi 4|1250ND offer extensive DSP capabilities such as LevelMAX™ limiters for the inputs and outputs, with thermal limiting, input and output delay, input and output EQ, built-in crossovers and a built-in signal generator.

The amplifiers incorporate an exclusive Power Factor Corrected (PFC) universal power supply that is designed to deliver maximum power in any country and their universal AC input accepts voltages from 100 – 240 VAC, 50/60Hz (+/- 10%). A newly-designed cooling system focuses the airflow on where it’s needed most, yielding maximum efficiency even under demanding operational conditions.

Crown DCi Series amplifiers are built for the most demanding conditions of continuous professional use and carry a 3-year, no-fault fully transferrable warranty.

Marcus Anderson Creates Sounds For All Settings with HARMAN’s AKG Microphones

LONDON, United Kingdom – Although he has yet to reach the age of 30, Marcus Anderson is already a seasoned musician and one of the most accomplished saxophonists in the world. The multi-talented artist has been playing saxophone with Prince’s band, the New Power Generation, for almost two years. Recently, Anderson also released his fifth solo album, Style Meets Substance, featuring Anderson on a range of instruments and which includes original material that spans a variety of genres. Through it all, Anderson has relied on HARMAN’s AKG C519 miniature condenser microphone in the studio and on stage.

“This new album in unique because I didn’t set out to make a typical album—I kind of just created whatever music I felt like,” Anderson said of Style Meets Substance. “There’s some rock, some Bollywood, some jazz and some old-school hip-hop. It’s creative, adventurous and I hope it takes the listener on a musical journey, through these different musical genres and eras.”

More than two years ago, Anderson began his tenure with the New Power Generation. “I started playing live with Prince and then later began working with him in the studio, recording and creating songs from scratch,” he said. “It’s been cool to work with him in a studio setting. He knows when to jump in and offer feedback and when to pull back and let you be creative. He’s very respectful to his musicians and that’s the beauty of working with him. At the same time, I learn something new from him every day. I feel like I’m in grad school!”

For several years, Anderson has relied on the AKG C519 for use with his saxophone, clipped onto the bell of the instrument. “The C519 has been a tremendous tool for me when recording and performing live—whether it’s at a club with my own band, or in an arena with Prince,” Anderson noted. “It reproduces my playing with clarity and purity. I’ve been a fan of AKG microphones for a long time and the C519 lives up to the standard of quality that AKG has set for all its products.”

The C519’s tight cardioid polar pattern makes it an ideal tool for use near monitor wedges, while its flat frequency response delivers a natural, powerful and clear sound.

Anderson also uses an AKG WMS4500 wireless microphone system for live performances and rehearsals. “I love the WMS4500–it’s crisp, clean and clear. It just punches for me and gives me that clarity I need. I can trim back the high end if I want and pump up the low/mid when I need to.”

Will Holland Invests in Prism Sound Titan Audio Interface

Globally itinerant musician and producer Will Holland is the latest high-profile buyer of Prism Sound’s increasingly well-regarded Titan USB multi-track audio interface.

Holland, aka Quantic, is currently setting up his latest studio in New York, after spells on the UK’s south coast in Brighton and seven years spent in Bogota, Columbia. His background encompasses a wide range of music styles – he started his career in instrumental hiphop and electronic music before expanding into producing soul, jazz and Latin music.

“Over the last couple of years I’ve been trying to centre on the concept of clarity and quality in the mixing setting,” he says. “My recordings comprise of different elements, often from a variety of sources. These may be recordings from tape, record and various sounds recorded on location, so it’s important to maintain a noise free, clear and undistorted sound at all times. I’m also doing a lot of work with very tonally rich sounds, acoustic instruments and percussion with a lot of upper register harmonics. It’s important to have a soundcard that makes the musicality shine and not have harsh digital edges or muddy sound.”

This, says Holland, is precisely where the Titan comes in. The interface is ideal for music and sound recording, mixing, multi-tracking, overdubbing, stem-based mastering, analogue summing and all critical listening applications. It provides Prism Sound’s renowned performance, sound quality and state-of-the-art clock technology in a dedicated unit compatible with both Windows and Apple platforms (Apple in Holland’s case) and once configured with a computer, Titan can also operate as a stand-alone interface.

Holland has used Prism Sound converters in various mastering sessions before, but this is the first time it has appeared in his own studio set up.

“What really appealed to me was the software management and the fact that all of the mic and input pres were software controllable,” says Holland. “This makes the unit very attractive to travel with because it is so quick and easy to set up. I find everything works instantly and the setup is quick and without glitches or tech issues. In my studio, space is also important, so the fact that Titan comes in a 1U package is very important.”

Holland’s most recent large-scale recording and music production was for a group called Ondatropica, a collaboration between himself and Mario Galeano, a fellow musician and arranger from Bogota. The initial album was recorded in Medellin at the legendary Colombian studio Discos Fuentes and has since been toured for two years. He also has his fifth solo record, Magnetica, about to be released on the Tru Thoughts label and is currently touring with various European gigs scheduled during May (www.quantic.org for full details).

“I believe the Titan will add a new dimension to my work,” he says. “I mixed a song with it last night and the whole mixdown process was infinitely easier than normal. The clarity in sound was excellent. It made the whole process much easier and quicker. I’m very satisfied with my Titan and am now looking forward to trying it out in some live sessions.”

Triad Speakers, Inc. adds Cost-Effective Models to Invisible DesignerSeries Line

DesignerSeries is a comprehensive line of high-performing, vibrating-panel sound systems that mount behind-the-wall, making them invisible to the eye. The company has added 3 new entry-level models that range from $500 to $700 MSRP each.

Portland, OR – May 13, 2014 – Triad Speakers, Inc. has added 3 new entry-level models to its DesignerSeries line of behind-the-wall loudspeakers: the DSi-1 ($500 MSRP each), the DSi-2dc dual-channel stereo version ($700 MSRP each) and the higher-performing DSi-3 ($700 MSRP each). The addition of the new models brings the DesignerSeries to 11 models in total. Prior to the DSi-1, MSRP for entry-level was $650.

The DesignerSeries are passive speaker panels comprised of a powder-coated aluminum frame, a rigid aluminum honeycomb core (with paper skin covering) and transducers. All the components — along with the use of a required high-pass cross-over filter (sold separately) — work in concert to create a vibrating element that produces sound waves. The result is a full, warm sound.

All DesignerSeries panels easily mount in between walls studs in typical home construction. The panel’s paper skin provides a high-bond surface for adhesion to plaster, drywall compound, mud skims and veneer. Once covered and painted the panels are invisible to the eye.

According to Triad Speakers’ Marketing Director Paul Teixeira, the 3 new DSi models boast a small footprint (measure 15.75-inches H x 11.8-inches W x 1.6-inches D), thus allowing for even greater installation flexibility.

“Our ability to hit lower price-points on such sophisticated technology gives the Triad dealer more options to place music throughout the house,” says Teixeira.

The DSi-1, DSi-2dc and DSi-3 speakers all carry a 10-year limited warranty. The speakers are shipping now. For more information visit www.triadspeakers.com or call Triad Speakers toll-free at 1.800.666.6316.
