BOSCH’S COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS DIVISION TO OFFER NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS

Cedar Rapids, IA, May 18, 2009 — The NSCA Education Foundation in partnership with Bosch’s Communications Systems Division is offering two $2,500 scholarships to students entering the commercial electronics systems industry. These scholarships, in memory of Robert Bosch, will be awarded to qualified applicants who have just graduated from high school or are currently receiving their undergraduate degree and are interested in the commercial electronics systems industry. more

Set in complete darkness, Dialog in the Dark, which has toured 22 countries, focuses on tolerance and awareness. Created by Ashoka Fellow Andreas Heinecke, a former German journalist/commentator, the exhibition utilizes scents, wind, temperatures, sound and textures to construct everyday environments and provide perceptual orientation within a world encompassing the remaining four senses. Blind or visually-impaired guides lead visitors through the installation which sharpens one’s sense of hearing with the sounds of rustling waterfalls and bustling communities. more

RTS Supports Emma TV for Children Fighting Cancer

  • Emma Children’s Hospital in Amsterdam boasts its own TV studio in which programs are produced by and for children fighting cancer.
  • RTS and Axon, the company’s distributor in the Netherlands, are supporting the project by making equipment and know-how available to the hospital virtually free of charge.

Straubing / Amsterdam The Department of Pediatric Oncology at Amsterdam’s Emma Children’s Hospital, which is attached to the University of Amsterdam’s Academic Medical Centre, boasts an unusual facility: a TV studio in the basement from which programs are produced by and for children suffering from cancer. RTS and Axon, the company’s distribution partner in the Netherlands, are supporting this humanitarian project by providing the children’s hospital with equipment and know-how. more

At Valencia Community College in Orlando, a full-service video production department works with professors to create DVDs and online instructional videos that provide students with crucial information to their studies. As these tools have become more popular among the school’s professors, the video production department was recently faced with a workflow problem that would often delay project completion. Avocation’s SR-2 Turns One Serial Port into Two

04.31.2009 — In a recent Tech Tip, Russound gave a nod to a little problem solver called the SR-2, which gives two control systems bi-directional serial control of a product that has only one RS-232 port.

The adapter, offered by Avocation Systems, facilitates RX, TX and ground signals and is capable of transmission speeds up to 460800 baud.

David Dickinson, the integration specialist for Russound’s Dealer Services Department noted, “The SR-2 is the perfect solution that our customers have been looking for. Finally, a widget that is simple and does what we want and need it to do.”

Avocation sales manager Trent Mulligan says, “There’s virtually no thought in using it,” says “You power it, plug in your devices and it works.”
