UVLD Lights Monumental Chris Burden Sculpture At Rockefeller Center

BurdenUnlimited Visibility Lighting Design (UVLD) is helping Chris Burden turn heads at Rockefeller Center by illuminating the artist’s latest installation, a 65-foot skyscraper constructed from nickel-finished stainless steel Erector Set-style pieces. The sculpture, called “What My Dad Gave Me,? is on view in the Channel Gardens, where the real Rockefeller Center Tower forms the backdrop, from June 10-July 19. It is presented by the Public Art Fund and hosted by Tishman Speyer, co-owners of Rockefeller Center. more

All of the best and brightest avant-garde jazz musicians and groups performed to the eager throng, and Stefan Heger, audio renaissance man and chief engineer at Cologne’s Supow Studio, was on hand to record it all in full surround sound. He relied on just one microphone for the surround signal, a SoundField MKV, which possesses the unique ability to capture spatial information with a proprietary signal. The spatial characteristics of the surround sound can then be altered during mixdown, in contrast to conventional microphone techniques, which permanently imprint their spatial information at the time of recording. more

University of Idaho Builds Powerful, Flexible Replay System With DNF Controls ST304-DSR1K Controller
