Ministry of Sound chooses Soundcraft Si2 Digital Console

Ministry of Sound London’s Technical Manager Alex Barrand moved a step nearer his sonic nirvana with the commissioning of a Soundcraft Si2 digital sound desk for the famous main dance room, The Box. At the PLASA Show last September he was introduced to the Soundcraft Si1 by Harman UK/ROI distributor Sound Technology’s Dave Bradshaw (also former head of technology at the Ministry). more

University Theatre Updates Audio System with Yamaha

Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada⎯The University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) recently upgraded the audio system in its University Theatre with a Yamaha M7CL-32 digital audio console and SB168-ES Stage Box. Installation assistance was provided by Wavetech Sound & Lighting located in Southern Alberta. The University boasts one of the fastest-growing post-secondary student populations in Canada with more than 8,000 students from 62 countries – one of the most geographically diverse student populations in Alberta. University Theatre seats 500 and is a multi-use venue hosting lectures, road shows, theatrical performances for young audiences, concerts, operas and about four major productions by the Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts. more

After selecting Coemar lighting fixtures for alternative/funk party band 311’s 2008 and 2009 tours, lighting designer/director Joe Paradise once again chose a complement of Coemar Infinity XLs and ACLs for the band’s much-anticipated 2010 311 Day Concert.

The biennial event, which celebrates the band and salutes fans worldwide, was held at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas on March 11. The five-hour communal concert began in 2000 and has become a 311 tradition; this year fans could also tune into a live webcast. more

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 2010: Belgian Film Sound Engineer Philippe Vandendriessche has invested in a SoundField ST350 portable microphone for use on location to complement his existing SoundField ST250. A well-known figure in the Francophone film industry for over 25 years, with a library of self-recorded effects and sounds extending to over 75,000 recordings, Vandendriessche was nominated in 2008 for a César film award (the French equivalent of the Oscars) for Best Sound in the French film Séraphine. He acted as chief sound engineer, using the SoundField ST250 to record ambient sound for the film. more
