Yamaha Output Product Updates Now Available

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. announces the fall availability of recently launched new output products and output product updates. Yamaha DME 3.5: New features in DME 3.5 include a Program Ducker component enabling fade-in/fade-out with much longer attack/release time than in existing DME units. Inverted ducking makes fade-in possible and enables gradual BGM ducking which is ideal for theme park paging, for example, and cross-fade source switching, necessary for broadcast. The new OSC On/Off oscillator key can be used as an assignment key while in Source to obtain a GPI effect. DME 3.5 provides ‘native’ support for MY16-ES64, MD64-EX, MY16-MD64, and MY16-EX cards available for DME64n and DME24n via the I/O card list in DME Designer software. more

Yamaha IPA8200 Series Power Amplifier Ships

The amplifier is a highly efficient Class D amplifier that delivers eight channels of 200W each (4 ohms) in a lightweight, but sturdy, 2U package. The new amplifier, which coincides with the recent release of the IMX644 rack mount mixer, is ideal for smaller-scale installations wanting the superior reliability and sound quality of a Yamaha product, and with the efficiency of Class D amplification. The IPA8200 is three times more efficient than conventional Class AB or Class H amplification and provides greatly reduced power consumption, heat dissipation and space requirements. more

Christie Projectors Deliver Winning Performance at 61st Primetime Emmy Awards Show

Los Angeles-based audio visual rental and staging company, American Hi Definition, Inc., supported the 61st Primetime Emmy(r) Awards live telecast from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE with six Christie Roadster HD18K projectors. American Hi Definition, Inc. is a veteran of previous Emmy telecasts and chose Christie projectors once again for the prominent television and media awards show.

The star-studded audience and home viewers feasted their eyes on a glittering set that consisted of two large rear-projection screens set back on the stage and raised on an upper tier. The six Christie Roadster HD18K projectors fed various graphic elements, ranging from a collage of network logos and stylized views of the elegant Emmy Statuette to video clips of nominees on a 13.5 x 24-foot screen at camera left and a 13.5 x 48-foot primary screen at camera right. more

Southern California Audio Post Facility AudioVision Upgrades To Fairlight’s Constellation XCS Console

Audio post production facility AudioVision has placed an order for a three-bay Fairlight Constellation XCS console. This will be installed into a custom-built frame that is currently being constructed by AudioVision’s owner, Bill Trousdale.

Based in Orange County, AudioVision was established in 1989 by Trousdale who has more than 35 years experience in the pro audio industry. The facility is equipped to a very high specification, particularly in regards to acoustic isolation and overall sonic purity. All of its audio recording systems are Fairlight, which Trousdale chose because they offer the speed, stability and audio quality that his clients demand. more

BUENA PARK, Calif.⎯Season eight of American Idol (Fox) empowered viewers to share their voice in deciding America’s next singing superstar. This year’s winner was quite the surprise when Kris Allen took the number one spot, leaving Adam Lambert at number two. As with seasons’ past, the top 10 finalists are currently on tour with ‘Idol Live 2009’ that began in early July. This year, independent front of house engineer, Randy Lane, chose a Yamaha PM5D-EX system for the 50-city tour. more

Stage Research is pleased to announce the release of RF Guru, a coordination tool targeted to anyone dealing with wireless microphones. RF Guru is designed to find the best combination of wireless microphone frequencies to be used at a venue and alleviate intermod (i.e., interference) problems. It calculates based on existing microphones, area TV stations, user-entered known bad frequencies and even mic data from nearby neighboring venues.

RF Guru was previewed in August at the successful launch of Stage Research’s Sound 411, a two-day informational event designed to bring together sound professionals and students in New York City with leaders in the sound hardware and software industries. “The new application was an immediate hit,” notes Carlton Guc, cofounder of Stage Research. “People told us RF Guru is what they’ve been waiting for.” more
