TUBE-TECH SSA2B SUMS UP MARTY STUART AND ENGINEER MICK CONLEY

marty_mick.JPG

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – JANUARY 2010: To suggest that Marty Stuart’s forthcoming album, Ghost Train, is a return to his roots, is nonsense, as he is one country singer/songwriter that has never strayed far from those roots. Even Stuart’s string of commercial hits in the 1990s were less about calculating hooks than they were about the affections of a fickle public – affections that shifted for a time toward authentic country. Stuart cut his teeth backing the likes of Lester Flatt, Doc Watson, and Johnny Cash. Ghost Train is a return to his roots, not in its content, but in its process. Stuart and longtime engineer Mick Conley went into legendary RCA Studio B, which is now literally a museum, to cut the tracks in the very first room that Stuart ever recorded in, back in the early 1970s, when he was playing with Lester Flatt. ASHLY AMPLIFIERS ANCHOR HASTINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM AUDIO/VIDEO

hastings_middle_school.JPG

HASTINGS, MINNESOTA – JANUARY 2010: Just a half hour outside of the Twin Cities near the confluence of the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers, Hastings, Minnesota blends the best of near-urban, suburban, and rural living. Hastings Middle School (HMS) has helped foster a uniquely engaged student body, with over 75% of students participating in the performing arts. Ironically, the school’s 700-seat auditorium – an inheritance from the building’s former life as the high school – balanced at the brink of disuse for years because aging audio/video and lighting components were failing on a regular basis. Resuscitation and intervention kept it limping along. However, all of that changed at the beginning of academic year 2009-2010, after Burnsville, Minnesota A/V design/install firm Intermedia Systems Group (ISG), replaced everything that had been terrible and flighty with equipment that was transparent and rock-solid, right down to the amp rack, which now gleams with the more

C’BURG BRETHREN CHURCH PUTS FAITH IN ONE DANLEY SUB!

chambersburg_church.JPG

CHAMBERSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA – JANUARY 2010: The brethren of Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church had suffered every Sunday with an inarticulate, unintelligible sound system not just for months, not just for years, but for decades. However, with an array of investments competing for limited funds, the risk of throwing good money after bad to improve or replace the sound system forced them to “just deal with it.” Nearly twenty years after their installation, the problematic loudspeakers forced the issue to be addressed. Now, an all new Danley-centered system with QSC amps and Ashly processing delivers, not just the abundant low-end that was previously absent but, an articulate high-end that has literally allowed the word of God to be heard throughout the entire congregation. more

CR Sound Installs a Fairlight Constellation XCS Console

Although originally founded as an audio post production facility for advertising and corporate clients, Kansas City-based CR Sound now has an enviable reputation as a film post facility having mixed seven feature films in the last decade.

Located in the beautiful Country Club Plaza, CR Sound is headed by Craig Rettmer, formerly manager of Soundtrek Plaza which he bought from his partners five years ago. Alongside CR Sound’s audio room, the building also houses a video editing facility, a film production group and a PR firm.

In recent months Rettmer and his team have upgraded the equipment in the main studio to incorporate a new Fairlight Constellation XCS console featuring a Xynergi centre panel and running on Fairlight’s latest Crystal Core (CC-1) engine. This replaces the Fairlight MFX3 Plus that Rettmer inherited with the business.

“We have been using Fairlight equipment since 2000 and I’ve always been more
