METRIC HALO DIEHARD, GUSSIE MILLER, PREPARES TO RELEASE NEW RECORDING

gussie_miller_2.JPGLOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – FEBRUARY 2009: Gussie Miller is one of those amazing people who are equally talented on either side of the microphone. With the ears of a musician and the ears of an engineer magically merged, the singer/songwriter/engineer/producer brings a unique sensitivity to his projects. He understands, better than most, how a musical performance will translate through the recording, mixing and mastering stages. On the flip side, he understands, again better than most, that some gear fights against the musicality of a piece, whereas other gear enhances it. It is with these subtleties that Miller often finds himself turning to Metric Halo’s ChannelStrip plug-in, of which he says – in a charming lilt that only a professional vocalist can deliver – “it’s all about the algorithm!” more

SUPERMODEL SCALES KILIMANJARO WITH SENNHEISER EVOLUTION WIRELESS

brian_cavallaro.JPGTANZANIA, EAST AFRICA – FEBRUARY 2009: Angie Everhart, the world’s most famous red-headed supermodel and actress, recently ascended Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world’s most famous freestanding mountain and poster child for the global epidemic of glacial retreat. Such an event did not go undocumented. In fact, HDNet financed the trip that took Everhart, her siblings, a handful of special guests, and a skeleton film crew up from the 100-degree heat of Tanzania to the below-zero summit in only seven days and will air the show on HDNet on February 24, 2009 at 10:00pm. With a sensible “less is more” approach to outfitting the crew, executive producer, director, and writer Brian Cavallaro paired a single Panasonic VariCam with two Sennheiser ew 112P G2 wireless body packs and receivers. Despite a number of unforeseen challenges, the wireless microphones delivered compelling and reliable audio of the ascent. more

Ground Zero Blues Club Expands With Peavey Versarray™ System

Ground Zero Blues Club MemphisMEMPHIS — The Mississippi Delta is considered “ground zero? of the blues-music movement. The town of Clarksdale in particular—where U.S. Highways 61 and 49 intersect at the fabled Crossroads—holds a mystique with music fans who come from around the world to experience the art form where it began.

Blues music evolved in juke-joint nightclubs across the region. But most juke joints are tucked away, out of reach from the main highways, and sometimes known only by locals. That’s why Mississippi native and actor Morgan Freeman teamed with blues aficionados Bill Luckett and Howard Stovall in May 2001 to create Ground Zero Blues Club as a home base for likeminded blues travelers. Naturally, they set it at the epicenter of blues lore. more
