“More professional users are moving to DLP projectors, and the time is right for us to enter this growing market segment with these entry-model DLP products that incorporate Hitachi’s high standards of performance and value,” said John Glad, product manager, Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group. “The new CP-DX300 and CP-DX250 offer all the ease of use, dependable operation and flexibility customers have come to expect from Hitachi projectors along with the improved image quality DLP provides.”

The Hitachi CP-DX300 and CP-DX250 incorporate Texas Instruments™ 1-chip DLP technology to deliver images with higher contrast and brightness (CP-DX300: 3,000 lumens; CP-DX250: 2,500 lumens), while Texas Instruments’ BrilliantColor™ technology offers color processing to enhance color performance for rich, vibrant and accurate colors. Both projectors offer XGA resolution. The CP-DX300 and CP-DX250 offers a maximum diagonal image of 40 inches from a distance of 59 inches. Measuring approximately 10.4 x 8.8 x 3.2 inches and weighing just 4.9 pounds, the CP-DX300 and CP-DX250 are designed for total ease of use, thanks to a new on-screen display and intuitive remote control that make setting up the projectors a breeze and provide ready access to all adjustments. Both models provide HDMI, two computer in, composite and S-video inputs, plus audio inputs and outputs and a computer monitor output. Both also feature a built-in 2W speaker and an RS-232C port.

The CP-DX300 and CP-DX250 include pre-set Bright, Presentation, Cinema, Game and RGB picture modes to accommodate different types of display situations and source material, as well as a User mode with fully adjustable image parameters. In addition, TI’s Wall Color Correction enables more accurate colors even when images are projected against light yellow, light green, blue and pink walls or even on a blackboard.

The projectors’ exclusive Intelligent Eco Mode automatically changes the brightness of the lamp according to the brightness level of the screen. Based on Hitachi’s ImageCare lamp power control function, these features provide optimal picture performance with maximum energy savings. The projectors’ fan is also regulated and the already-quiet 33dB operating level is reduced to 29dB in Eco mode.

Christie Conquers the Elements with Introduction of New WeatherAll Series of Weatherproof LCD Flat Panels

The new Christie® WeatherAll Series of LCD outdoor flat panels makes its global debut at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in Amsterdam, Netherlands on January 29, setting the standard for outdoor LED-backlit LCD technology. Rugged and versatile, the first of the WeatherAll Series is the 55-inch Christie FHD551-W, a professional grade full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) solution designed to perform in a wide range of applications including outdoor sporting venues, outdoor live events, architectural applications, entertainment parks, public displays, the hospitality and resort industry, transportation services, and numerous other outdoor environments not typically applicable with standard LCD panels.

Christie FHD551-W WeatherAll Flat Panel

“Christie is at the forefront in offering what customers need and the WeatherAll Series is designed to be the clear choice in an outdoor weatherproof display solution,” said Frank Anzures, senior product manager, Christie. “First in our WeatherAll Series, the Christie FHD551-W is easy to maintain while providing robustness and the vivid picture quality needed when presenting your message outdoors.”

The Christie FHD551-W features optically bonded glass for increased protection against harsh impacts and scratches in public display environments while enhancing viewability in outdoor venues by reducing reflection. It is designed to provide high contrast ratio, rich vibrant colors, and superior brightness to overcome high ambient light — making it perfect for outdoor use.

The ability to use the Christie FHD551-W in landscape or portrait mode is ideal for rental staging applications, resorts, hotels and restaurants, to provide impactful content in public areas, while being rugged and durable to withstand rain, sleet, snow, and human interaction. The Christie FHD551-W’s integrated speakers and sleek design makes this a visually appealing solution compared to traditional LCD products that would require enclosures when used in outdoor environments.

“The typical flat panel displays are not designed for outdoor use and the risk of damage when exposed to the elements is very high. However, the high definition Christie FHD551-W is designed to be IP56 rated / NEMA4 and has a DACS filtration system to protect it and allow for it to be used in harsh weather conditions and withstand the abuse of public display areas,” said Anzures. “With the addition of optically bonded glass it increases sunlight readability by up to 400 percent when compared with standard flat panels and increases scratch and impact resistance by up to 300 percent.”

For superior dependability in the most challenging outdoor environments, the DACS cooling & filtration system provides a thermostatically-controlled active system that protects sensitive electronics from temperature extremes, moisture, and dust. The advanced easy-clean solution eliminates the need for core filter replacement. The FHD551-W features a weather rating of IP56/NEMA4, providing protection against solid foreign objects such as falling dirt or windblown dust in addition to rain, sleet, snow, ice and splashing or hosed water.

“The Christie FHD551-W can easily manage temperatures ranging from a scorching 45 degrees Celsius (114 degrees Fahrenheit) all the way down to a bone chilling minus 20 degrees Celsius (minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit), as well as rain, snow, dust and high humidity, without those factors affecting performance. This new outdoor flat panel also boasts integrated weatherproof speakers to provide a full solution for outdoor use,” added Anzures.

Benefits of Christie FHD551-W with Optical Bonding
- Improves sunlight readability up to 400 percent.
- Increases impact and scratch resistance up to 300 percent.
- Eliminates parallax: the apparent displacement or the difference in apparent direction of an object as seen from two different points not on a straight line with the object.
- Prevents condensation on LCD Panel.
- Significantly improves durability against vibration, extreme temperatures, altitudes, water and dust.
- Vastly improves contrast and color saturation readability.

The Christie FHD551-W is now shipping with a two-year parts and labor warranty, backed by Christie’s renowned customer service and support.

ANAHEIM, California – At Winter NAMM 2013, HARMAN’s JBL Professional is introducing white versions of its popular PRX415M and PRX412M passive portable loudspeakers. The new 15-inch PRX415M-WH and 12-inch PRX412M-WH offers the same performance and capabilities as the PRX412M and PRX415M, in a sleek white finish that offers systems designers with another loudspeaker option to discreetly fit into various environments that require white loudspeaker systems.

“The PRX400 Series has been a tremendous success for end-users and sound contractors who require exceptional sound and rugged reliability in a passive loudspeaker format,” said Andy Flint, Senior Manager, Portable PA Marketing, Loudspeaker Group. “In addition to our commitment to providing market-leading audio performance, the PRX415M-WH and PRX412M-WH demonstrate our commitment to providing a variety of aesthetic options for audio applications.”

The PRX415M-WH and PRX412M-WH can be used as either floor monitors or for overhead suspension in a permanent installation application where white enclosures are desirable. As with all PRX400 Series loudspeakers, they are designed to work hand in hand with Crown Audio’s powerful and innovative XTi2 Series amplifiers. Crown XTi2 amplifiers incorporate enhanced pre-set performance tunings for PRX400 Series loudspeakers, including crossover points for a sat/subwoofer setup, and optimized parametric filter that bring out the full potential of PRX400 Series loudspeakers. JBL PRX400 tunings are also available in the dbx DriveRack® PA+ signal processor/complete loudspeaker management system.

The PRX415M-WH and PRX412M-WH utilize extremely high-quality, tour-tested drivers and components to deliver clear, detailed and dynamic sound for bands, DJs, nightclubs, schools, houses of worship or other professional touring and installed sound applications. They feature Neutrik® SpeakON combination connectors and are built from lightweight, yet extremely tough 18mm birch/poplar multi-laminate hardwood covered in JBL’s resilient DuraFlex™ covering. They also feature rugged 16 gauge steel grilles with an acoustically transparent white cloth backing.

The PRX415M-WH and PRX412M-WH incorporate twelve M-10 suspension points and hardened steel eyebolts for safe hanging in light-duty installations. In common with all JBL Professional products, the PRX415M-WH and PRX412M-WH loudspeakers have survived JBL’s 100-hour power test, in which they are submitted to 100 hours of continuous, high-level input. The speakers also go through a barrage of unforgiving environmental and strength tests including harsh temperatures and humidity, ensuring they will perform perfectly anywhere. They also incorporate JBL’s Sonic Guard speaker protection circuit that automatically attenuates the signal going into the high-frequency section of the speaker if too much input signal is detected, and restores normal operation when the overload condition passes.

HARMAN’s AKG Introduces Revamped Digital Automatic Microphone Mixers – DMM6 and DMM12 – During NAMM

ANAHEIM, California – Adding to its family of microphone mixers, AKG proudly introduces its new line of digital automatic microphone mixers – DMM6 and DMM12. With an intuitive user interface, numerous DSP functions and high signal to noise ratio (S/N), the DMM series provides users with the highest quality in automatic mixing technology.

DMM12 offers 12 inputs, while easily adjusting the mic to line level. Its four line outputs (2x stereo) are individually assignable for each input. The stereo record outputs are individually assignable, while the headphone out port allows users to listen to each input and output individually.

DMM6 offers six inputs and two line outputs at 1x stereo.

When in use, all inputs are active, but attenuated to a level that equals the level of one “active microphone.” If two or more inputs receive relevant input signals, their amplification is increased to a level, which allows overall output to equal one “active microphone,” resulting in an absolute feedback-stable system.

Working to deter noise pickup, the DMM series senses numerous sonic activities to monitor and diminish unwanted sound. If a signal is picked up over a long period of time, the mixers understand that it may be an air conditioning unit or other unavoidable noise. When a large number of microphones pick up the same signal and all mics are active, the DMM system will recognize applause and not react. When two microphones are receiving the same signal, the mic with the slightly higher level gets priority, while the other one is attenuated.

“AKG understands the needs of the live sound professional and the updates to our line of rackable mixers underscores our goal of providing high-quality, reliable sound in all performance spaces,” stated Thomas Giczy, Business development Manager, Installed Sound, AKG. “DMM6 and DMM12 embody the technological advancements AKG delivered with its original analog 8-channel auto mixer, AS8 and its digital predecessors DMM4/2/4. DMM12 and 6 will be a tactical addition to any installed sound system to ensure proper sound.”
