Matrox Adds 10 km Extension and HDCP Compliance to Avio F125 KVM Extenders

New features make Matrox Avio F125 the ideal solution for long-haul transmission of high quality dual-HD, 4K or 4K UHD video content

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced that important new features have been added to Matrox Avio™ F125 KVM extension solutions. Maximum extension distance over a single duplex LC-LC fiber optic cable has been increased from 4 km (2.5 mi) to 10 km (6.2 mi) and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliance has been added.

Designed for high-performance environments, Avio F125 delivers fluid graphics and video playback over long distances making it ideal for Pro A/V, industrial process control, oil and gas, 3D design and visualization, education, military, broadcast and post-production environments. The ability to extend uncompressed dual-HD, 4K or 4K UHD video; keyboard; mouse; stereo analog audio and USB 2.0 devices up to 10 km from a workstation over a single duplex LC-LC cable lowers the cost of deployment across campuses and multi-story facilities. HDCP compliance lets users extend and playback copy-protected content on HDCP-enabled displays.

Prism Sound Unveils Atlas – Another New Audio Interface

Internationally renowned manufacturer Prism Sound will score a hat trick at NAMM 2014 when it unveils Atlas – its third new interface product to be launched in just eight months (Booth 7123).

Complementing the company’s existing Orpheus, Lyra and Titan interfaces, Atlas offers the same no-compromise design and acclaimed converter performance that users have long come to expect from Prism Sound’s high quality audio products.

Designed with Prism Sound’s latest and award-winning CleverClox clocking technology and incorporating eight of the company’s popular mic pre’s as standard, this latest addition to the USB interface family is aimed squarely at multitrack recording applications. Atlas offers recording professionals ultimate quality analogue and digital I/O for Mac or Windows PC at sample rates up to 192kHz via a simple USB interface. In addition to the USB host interface, Atlas also features Prism Sound’s new MDIO interface expansion slot, which was first incorporated into Titan and announced at AES New York in October 2013. Using this miniature expansion slot users can, for example, directly connect to Pro Tools|HDX systems. A range of other MDIO interfaces is planned for later introduction. Atlas will also run with Apple and Windows native applications over USB.

As with all Prism Sound audio interface products, Atlas has been specifically designed to meet customer demand. The unit draws on Prism Sound’s conversion and clocking expertise developed over many years in products ranging from the AD-2 and DA-2 and the popular ADA-8XR modular converter to Orpheus and the latest releases, Lyra and Titan. It offers eight analogue inputs, eight analogue outputs plus S/PDIF and TOSLINK optical digital I/O ports. The optical ports can also be used for ADAT, giving a single Atlas unit a maximum capability of 18 concurrent input and output channels plus dual stereo headphones.

Atlas also features high quality digitally-controlled preamplifiers – eight for microphones and two for instruments, which are automatically selected when the respective sources are plugged in. An assignable rotary control is provided for monitoring or output level control, which can be applied to any desired set of output channels. In addition, dual stereo headphone outputs are provided, each with its own volume control.

Building on the versatile DSP features of the Prism Sound Orpheus and Titan interfaces, Atlas has a powerful built-in DSP engine which provides high precision input and output conditioning functions, as well as a fully-featured mixer for every Atlas output channel, including ADAT channels. Each output can be driven with its own zero-latency mix of input channels and DAW feeds, allowing flexible performers’ foldback feeds to be created, as well as stereo or 5.1/7.1 surround monitoring feeds, controlled by the front-panel rotary control if desired. Titan’s high quality analogue outputs are ideally suited for use with analogue summing boxes.

All of Atlas’ functions, aside from the front panel monitor and headphone level controls, are controlled from a dedicated Control Panel app, which opens on-screen as a separate panel alongside the user’s existing editing software.

Cerwin-Vega! Announces XD Desktop Speaker Series Expansion at the 2014 NAMM Show

ANAHEIM, JANUARY 23, 2014 — Cerwin-Vega!, a Gibson Brand, is pleased to present the expansion of its popular XD Desktop Speaker Series at the 2014 NAMM Show (TASCAM Booth 6491). Unveiled recently at CES, the new four-inch XD4 and five-inch XD5 full range systems and eight-inch XD8 powered subwoofer join the company’s existing XD3 Powered Desktop Speaker. In keeping with the tradition of Cerwin-Vega! products, key design elements of the series include optimized frequency response, overall clarity, low distortion and the company’s trademark bass performance.

Each XD Series member is matched with low distortion, high output amplifiers and soft-dome tweeters for the best possible sound. Equipped with metal covers, the XD3 and XD4 feature 3/4-inch tweeters while the XD5 utilizes a one-inch tweeter. Matrox Mura Network API Brings Exciting New Digital Signage Functionality to Mura-based Video Walls

Attention-grabbing digital signage effects and fast HTML5 renderer to be demonstrated at ISE and DSE 2014

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced the immediate availability of a new version of Matrox Mura™ Network API for Mura MPX video wall controller boards. The updated API lets ISVs add eye-catching transitions and effects to their video wall software. It also provides a high-performance HTML5 renderer that enables integration of social media, weather information, animations and other online data feeds into digital signage.

Technical Direction Company (TDC) provides the perfect video backdrop for 27th ARIA Awards

Video display experts, Technical Direction Company (TDC) supplied all video technology elements for the 27th ARIA Awards held at The Star, Sydney, Australia on 1 December 2013.

The ARIA Awards are the official awards of the Australian Record Industry Association attended by an audience of over 4,000. The event was broadcast live on Channel 9’s “GO!” with performances from many Australian artists including Birds of Tokyo, Bliss n Eso and Tame Impala as well as special guest appearances from Alicia Keys and Lorde.

The ceremony was produced by Michael Long and Vicki Gerrans. Set design was by Kim Buddee. Stunning screen graphics were produced and operated by Rod Morris.

TDC supplied custom automated rolling screens with ultra-bright 26K HD projectors, that not only provided a uniform, succinct and clean look according to the set design but also acted as a mask for set changeovers. TDC also supplied 200 square metres of high-resolution LED video display as well as video projections and creative and scenic LED elements along with switching, control and technical crew.

ARIA Event Producer, Michael Long said: “We’ve worked with TDC for a number of years because they have quality product, they always deliver on time and within budget meeting our set designer needs and music act requirements. TDC has an excellent logistical and creative team that can cope well with any last minute changes.

“For the Birds of Tokyo, Tame Impala, Jessica Mauboy performances and various DJ’s we used all 4 LED screens on stage along with two side screens. We created a specific look for act changeover where TDC’s two large projection screens came down and covered the stage. Because the venue didn’t have the ceiling height, we had to think of something different and thankfully TDC had some special screens available. TDC suggested early on that we use 6×6 metre screens with custom-built truss to roll them in and out creating a seamless image and transition.”

Olin Winton, Technical Manager at Technical Direction Company said: “Creating a seamless video and LED video technology elements was vital to this project. We were able to utilize some of our highest resolution LED stock for the 27th ARIA Awards which created the perfect backdrop to the Australian and international music performances.”
