Xytech Redefines Facility Management Software with the Release of MediaPulse 2014 at NAB

Cobalt Digital’s SPOTCHECK®, initially developed to provide loudness measurement and records for broadcasters, returns to NAB as a significantly upgraded and comprehensive compliance system. Enhancements include: proxy record (Down-res transcode) variable resolution, Video H264, Audio AAC Stereo, EBUR128 compliance, graphing enhancements to include cursors, TS playback and vertical scrolling. DVEO Shipping Latest Version of Documented “DOZER” IP Video Traffic Smoothing Technology for Smooth Video Over Public Internet

San Diego, California — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), is now shipping the second generation version of its innovative technology for smooth distribution of IP video over poor or average quality public Internet.

Designed for broadcasters, mobile operators, telcos, IPTV operators, and Over The Top (OTT) video providers, DVEO’s proprietary “DOZER” technology smoothes video traffic and recovers dropped packets. Typically sold in pairs, the DOZERbox and DOZER Racks gateways replace expensive private point to point internet managed network connections. Customers can purchase the Media Dozer: LIC application software as an add-on for DVEO’s many encoder and gateway appliances, including the Mamba DIG/IP™, MultiStreamer™, MPEG Gearbox™, MultiStreamer Brutus™, MPEG Gearbox II™, and D-Streamer™ product lines. It is also available as a license for other devices.

When Media Dozer II: LIC is added to DVEO systems such as the MultiStreamer™ encoder or MPEG Gearbox II™ transcoder, the original content can be encoded or transcoded before it is processed by the Media Dozer II: LIC.

Media Dozer II: LIC can also be added to DVEO’s Proxicaster IP IP™, a stream packager that converts UDP or RTP to multicast, adds wrappers such as HLS or RTMP, and redirects video streams to multiple locations. This new combination product is sold as the Proxi DOZER™.

For optimum video streaming, when video will be transmitted and received from the same location, two separate systems are recommended for transmitting and receiving.

    HARMAN’s BSS Audio, Crown and JBL Professional Provide Acoustic Atmospherics at The Island In Pigeon Forge Entertainment and Retail Center

    PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee – The Island at Pigeon Forge is a brand-new entertainment and retail center located in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains. It’s on an actual island in the Little Pigeon River and offers a wide variety of rides, shopping, restaurants and attractions, with a 132-room hotel to be completed in spring 2014. Providing the audio solution was sound contractor Clair Brothers Audio who installed a system featuring HARMAN’s JBL Professional loudspeakers and Crown amplifiers, all tied together via BSS Audio signal processing components.

    Clair Brothers installed the distributed audio system at The Island at Pigeon Forge, which encompasses more than 22 acres. Dustin Goen, Clair Brothers system designer and project manager specified 128 JBL Control 28T-60 loudspeakers for use throughout the facility, indoors and outdoors in the buildings and mounted on light poles. The loudspeakers are powered by a total of 12 Crown CTs Series CTs 2000-LITE, CTs 1000-LITE and CTS 600-LITE amplifiers. Signal processing and distribution is provided by three BSS Audio BLU-800 processors, a BLU-320 I/O expander, a BLU-100 12 x 8 signal processor and three BLU-8v2 wall controllers. The amplifiers are connected to the BSS Audio components via CobraNet, using PIP Programmable Input Processor modules that are installed in the amps.

    The Crown amplifiers and BSS Audio components are housed in four distributed audio equipment rooms, all tied together with fiber cable. The tech staff can monitor and control all the amplifiers using a customized page in the HARMAN HiQnet London Architect™ system control and configuration software. Each of the equipment rooms has remote inputs and paging, enabling staffers to distribute inputs across the park or page specific areas.

    “Although it covers a large area, we were able to test the entire system in the shop before we brought it to the site and configure and tune everything onsite in two days,” said Goen. “We chose the JBL Control 28T-60 loudspeakers with WeatherMax grilles because of their combination of sound quality, power handling and durability, which is obviously of prime importance in an outdoor installation where they’re also going to be used day in and day out.”

    Goen continued, “The BSS Audio BLU devices are my go-to digital signal and networking processors because they offer tremendous flexibility and total reliability. These qualities, along with their ability to connect all the amplifiers on the same network using a single software package made them the obvious choice.”

    HARMAN Professional Releases JBL HiQnet Performance Manager™ Version 1.7, Adding Support for JBL VTX F Series Loudspeakers

    FRANKFURT, Germany – HARMAN Professional today introduced the latest iteration of its comprehensive software for live sound system configuration and control, JBL HiQnet Performance Manager™ version 1.7. New to version 1.7 is support for JBL’s VTX F Series loudspeakers, new circuiting functionality, plus a host of other new capabilities.

    JBL HiQnet Performance Manager is a true workflow-based user experience for designing, deploying and controlling any configuration of HiQnet live performance system that offers touring and live sound professionals reduced design time, simplified networking, and an automated interface configuration.

    Version 1.7 features new circuiting functionality that allows for automatic mirroring of delay, bandpass gain, circuit level attenuation, and limiter reduction. It also affords the ability for center stacks to mirror their circuit configuration. With the new functionality, circuits for ground stacks on-end are built in an onstage to offstage fashion and HARMAN’s Crown VRACK amplifier channels are now automatically associated with sub bandpasses by using channel 1 of all three amps before associating with channel 2. The functionality also separates the circuits of cardioid subs so non-consecutive circuiting and more economical triplets can be created.

    Additionally, online matching now has the option of preserving physical devices addresses and making the virtual device in Performance Manager receive the HiQnet address from the networked device. The update also features substantial changes to ground stack templates: it is now possible to select any number of column or row stacks, while selecting an odd number of ground stacks on-end will create a center stack that circuits inside-to-out within itself.

    When in “Amplify Mode” users now have the capability to make associations directly by dragging speaker bandpasses to amplifier channels or vice versa. Version 1.7 also features a new ‘auto’ VRACK wiring mode option within the Array Configuration dialog. This allows Performance Manager to automatically decide the most economical use of VRACKs and can be used instead of the advanced tab for complex scenarios.
