HARMAN’s JBL Commercial Series Products Earn ENERGY STAR® Label

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – HARMAN’s JBL Commercial Series today announced that its amplifiers, and mixer-amplifiers have earned the ENERGY STAR® label. The ENERGY STAR program, sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), provides consumers and businesses with guidance for making purchases that save them money and help protect the climate by increasing energy efficiency. To earn the label, the JBL Commercial Series components had to be third-party certified in EPA-recognized laboratories and demonstrate that the features and performance of the products meet consumer demand and that they are able to increase energy efficiency. To retain the ENERGY STAR label, the products will be subject to “off-the-shelf” verification testing each year, to ensure that changes or variations do not undermine the components’ adherence to ENERGY STAR requirements.

The JBL Commercial series, known for both superior performance and affordability, is comprised of components that are the result of years of precision sound reproduction and technical innovation by JBL, Crown and other HARMAN brands. The Commercial Series Mixer-Amplifiers (CSMA) drive 8 ohm and 4 ohm loads (70V and 100V). They include Euro- block mic/line inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs and an RJ45 port for remote volume control. The JBL Commercial products are backed by the combined technological prowess of multiple HARMAN brands. They can be easily configured to accommodate a range of applications, such as background music, security and paging, making them an ideal component for a variety of venues, ranging from schools and hospitals to restaurants and fitness facilities. JBL Commercial Series Amplifiers (CSA) continue to exceed expectations as they set new standards in commercial amp technology with easy configuration, increased reliability and unrivaled performance.

“The ENERGY STAR label reflects our commitment to delivering top-notch audio components that have been developed from the very beginning with environmental stewardship in mind,” stated Craig Lambrecht, business segment manager, Amplifier Business Unit, HARMAN Professional. “These components are manufactured with recycled materials whenever possible, they’re designed to use less power and generate less heat and their relatively low weight results in less freight and lower emissions. Energy efficiency is important to our customers and, as the JBL Commercial line demonstrates, it’s important to us as well.”

Energy efficiency is built into the components with technology and environmentally conscious manufacturing guidelines. As a result the products quickly pay for themselves in energy savings. JBL Commercial’s amplifiers and mixer-amplifiers utilize HARMAN’s DriveCore™ technology, which compresses hundreds of parts into a chip that’s smaller than a dime, increasing efficiency and reliability by using fewer parts and significantly reducing power consumption. And GreenEdge™ by HARMAN is an initiative under which the components are built to conform to lead-free RoHS standards, use recycled copper, aluminum and steel from factory processes and include a low-energy powder coat that uses 33 percent less energy.

HARMAN’s BSS Audio Introduces Soundweb Contrio Control And Media Server: Provides Advanced Control Capabilities for Professional Audio Networking

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Raising the performance threshold of large-scale professional audio networking in stadiums, arenas and large fixed installations, HARMAN’s BSS Audio today debuted its Soundweb Contrio system control server at InfoComm 2014. Now, integration professionals have the ability to design network architectures that place advanced system control, system management and media server functionality at a central point of the network and, in doing so, build systems that are more efficient, more practical and better performing. At just 1U rack space, the Soundweb Contrio server is a headless system controller device fully configurable with HiQnet Audio Architect™ software as part of the HARMAN Architectural Media Systems solution. Backwards-compatible with BSS Audio’s Soundweb London family, the Soundweb Contrio server is the first product within the new Soundweb Contrio family that will ultimately provide enhanced processing capability and greater flexibility for a variety of applications.

Advanced system control

The Soundweb Contrio server enables comprehensive system control logic configuration, both with a similar ‘wiring’ design environment as exposed in Audio Architect for existing Soundweb London devices, and a new open scripted Lua environment. The overall system is made even more efficient by running a logic system separate from the audio devices, which frees up processing capability and reduces the amount of hardware required.

System-wide presets can be configured at the parameter level, enabling a very precise level of detail in the creation of system reset functionality.

An event scheduler enables comprehensive preset recall – whether at a system level, a device level or at a parameter level.

The Soundweb Contrio server also provides a single network clock to provide an accurate synchronization of all HiQnet devices on the network.

System management

The server includes a system self-healing functionality. By monitoring the Ethernet switch and ports to which all devices are connected, a day-to-day operator need only replace a device on the same switch port and the server will automatically remotely configure all the addressing and configuration of the new device to match the old. In this way, it is not necessary to launch a software application to add replacement devices to the system.

The Soundweb Contrio server monitors all HiQnet devices and logs all warning or error conditions. The event logs of individual devices are also aggregated to provide a centralized monitoring location for the full system.

The server can send email information regarding the logged events, the degree of severity configurable within Audio Architect.

Media server

The Soundweb Contrio server supports both HARMAN BLU link and Audinate Dante™ audio transports in order that it can fit appropriately with a variety of system configurations.

In addition to its ability to recall system-wide presets, the event scheduler enables message playback over the audio network.

As with the Soundweb London series of products, the Soundweb Contrio server is configured within HiQnet Audio Architect – HARMAN’s common control software application for all devices in a sound system, from microphone to speaker. To facilitate system setup, HiQnet Audio Architect is unique in its graphical representation of the installed sound venue as the system design environment.

The Soundweb Contrio server runs an embedded version of HiQnet Audio Architect and is therefore immediately capable of providing integrators and end-users comprehensive management of all system presets, backup, storage of specific venue setup modes, event aggregation and scheduling.

“The Soundweb Contrio server provides audio professionals, systems integrators and end users with the best of both worlds,” said Iain Gregory, Market Manager, BSS Audio. “It provides enterprise-grade architecture and performance functionality coupled with a simple, intuitive user ecosystem comprising headless devices and wall controllers. The Soundweb Contrio server is the critical first step in enabling systems designers and their customers with exactly the right tools when they each need them.”

“By leveraging the power of HARMAN Audio Architect, and the vast number of devices from microphone to loudspeaker it now controls, we are providing the strongest possible foundation for the Soundweb Contrio server and delivering the most comprehensive audio system management platform available to date,” stated Adam Holladay, Market Manager, System Development and Integration Group, HARMAN Professional.

The Soundweb Contrio server is the first of the next generation of backward-compatible BSS Audio products and is designed to work in conjunction with BSS Audio’s new series of Soundweb Contrio wall controllers. The controllers are available in white or black and provide visual feedback for end-users to easily manage and adjust audio operation in a specific environment.

The headless appliance is just 1U rack space high and features a 500GB solid-state drive.

The Soundweb Contrio server will be available in September 2014.

D-TOOLS TO DEMONSTRATE WORKFLOW-ENHANCING MOBILE QUOTE APP AT INFOCOMM 2014

Now available, companion app to SIX 2013 enables systems integrators to remotely generate bids and later import them into D-Tools SIX 2013 for full project design and management

CONCORD, CA and LAS VEGAS, NV – JUNE 17, 2014 — InfoComm 2014 Booth #C8318— D-Tools Inc., the worldwide leader in system integration software, announced that the Company will demonstrate its new iOS-based iPad® companion app for its flagship product, SIX 2013 at the InfoComm Conference June 18-20, 2014 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas (D-Tools booth #C8318). This new release adds mobile quoting capabilities that enable Commercial electronic system integrators to generate quotes natively on an iPad and then import the quotes into the full D-Tools SIX 2013 software platform for further project design and management. Delivering on D-Tools’ commitment to streamline product updates and enhancements by consolidating them into an annual release, this new companion app will immediately extend the highly functional D-Tools workflow to mobile sales and specification teams.

A native iOS application, the D-Tools Mobile Quote app leverages D-Tools’ extensive manufacturer product library by enabling integrators to access and integrate product category and package data from their SIX 2013 catalog while working with customers in the field. Integrators can enter client and contact information into the iPad app, then walk prospective customers through available installation scenarios in order to create a quote for approval. Once complete, the resulting quote can then be imported into SIX 2013 for additional design work and synchronization.

The Mobile Quote app uses many of D-Tools’ workflow concepts, including the specification of locations and systems, which allows integrators to provide packages or pre-configured systems for inclusion in the quote. Labor and general pricing will be calculated to give the customer an accurate proposal, which can then be signed off for approval on the spot.

“Delivering features that enable our users to create quotes in the field is a natural evolution for us. The D-Tools Mobile Quote app is an important component that ensures our platform continues to meet the growing needs of our ever-expanding commercial customer base,” said Adam Stone, President and Founder of D-Tools. “The Mobile Quote app release is just the beginning. HARMAN’s Martin Professional at ULTRA Music Festival: Creating a Show in an Urban Core (Part 2/3)

MIAMI, Florida — At this year’s ULTRA Music Festival, HARMAN’s Martin Professional lit the night with an array of lighting fixtures, including the RUSH 5×5 Strobe, RUSH MH2, RUSH PAR1, MAC III Profile, MAC Viper, MAC 101, MAC Aura, M-1 Control and M2go Console.

In preparing for a massive scale production such as ULTRA Music Festival, an epic battle takes place between the passion and dedication of the team and the challenges posed by the environment and the conditions under which the ULTRA Music Festival engine operates.

For the Miami shows, the location in downtown Miami represents one major challenge, as the festival grounds and the stage are shoehorned in between a busy street and a retaining wall. Lighting fixtures and all other technical elements of the festival and stage design are also being put to the test in this extreme environment, where excessive heat, high levels of humidity and endless amounts of dirt compete to compromise the performance of the fixtures.

Seemingly at the mercy of the environment, the performance of the fixtures ultimately depend on the skillfulness of the guys behind the scenes at ULTRA Music Festival headed by Stephen Lieberman – one of the world’s most innovative Lighting Designers. Creative forces come into play, as the hard work of these guys determines the success or failure of the shows. They face any obstacle with equal measures of skill, passion and dedication.

Being pushed to the limit motivates the team to each year strive for bigger, better, crazier. This is how the ULTRA Music Festival team continues to set the standard for innovation in stage design and why the industry looks to ULTRA Music Festival for inspiration and new ideas.

One of the things that help keep the team focused is the awareness of whom they’re doing it for. The ULTRA Music Festival crowd comprises all subcultures of electronic dance music (EDM) brought together for the ultimate celebration of the genre.

In this second video from behind the scenes at ULTRA Music Festival, we let you in on what it really takes to fire up the ULTRA Music Festival Engine and how much you gotta love your job to stay in the game.
