Christie Wins Project Innovation Award for Upgrade of Operational Flight Trainer

Christie®, a global leader in visual displays and audio technology solutions, is proud to announce that it is the recipient of the prestigious Project Innovation Award for retrofitting the visual system of the Wedgetail E-7A Operational Flight Trainer with stunning results. The award was presented during the Simulation Australia Annual Awards Dinner held August 26 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Christie Matrix StIM LED

The Project Innovation Award is part of the Simulation Australia 2014 Awards organized by Simulation Australia, the national body that promotes the use of simulation, training and modeling for the advancement of Australia’s economy and society. This national award recognizes and celebrates innovation and excellence in simulation by project teams in Australia and New Zealand that have achieved outstanding results in delivering a new simulation capability or utilizing a simulation capability in a new and improved way.

The Christie Matrix StIM™ LED illuminated simulation projection system was deployed to power the new upgraded visual system of the Wedgetail E-7A Operational Flight Trainer, which is used for training Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) flight crew. The retrofitted visual system resulted in an astounding improvement to the visuals of the flight simulator, and proved itself as a reliable operating platform by providing 100 percent uptime for over 16 months. This translated into continued availability round the clock and a lower lifecycle cost. This new visual system also enabled the Wedgetail E-7A Operational Flight Trainer to retain the FSD-1 Level 5 standard – the highest level of accreditation in Australia using LED technology, making it the first of its kind in the Australian simulation community.

Michael Bosworth, general manager, Christie Australia, and Jim Gray, business development manager, Christie Australia, were presented with the Project Innovation Award during the awards presentation ceremony held at the Adelaide Oval. This is the second national level award that Christie Australia has won this year, following its win of the DTC Annual Defence Industry 2014 Innovator Award for the Christie Matrix StIM™ WQ 1-chip DLP® projection system.

“This is an extremely proud moment for all of us at Christie Australia and we are very happy to be the recipients of this extraordinary award,” said Bosworth. “I would like to thank our partners from Thales Australia and Boeing whom we worked very closely with on this project, which brought significant improvements to the visuals and operational uptime of the Wedgetail E-7A Operational Flight Trainer through the use of our Christie Matrix StIM simulation system.”

The Christie Matrix StIM is the first projection system to provide independent control over both the visible and infrared spectrum and enable real-time balancing of both color and brightness levels. It is also the first simulation system equipped with solid state illumination –there are no consumables for a virtually maintenance-free system, providing years of continuous operation.

Designed and engineered with Christie expertise, the Christie Matrix StIM features a scalable environment display system that provides the unique capabilities of achieving eye-limiting resolution while simulating Night Vision Goggles. It is built on an inherently stable long-life platform that doesn’t fade over time, and offers a unique lampless illumination system for unprecedented stability and reliability.

FSR’s New LITE-IT Enclosed Box Light Named Winner In rAVe’s 2014 Annual Best of InfoComm Awards

Woodland Park, NJ – FSR is proud to announce that its LITE-IT Enclosure Box Light, introduced at this year’s InfoComm 2014 show in Las Vegas, has been named a winner by rAVe [Publications] in its 2014 Annual Best of InfoComm Awards in the category of “Best New AV Accessory.” Winners were revealed following the show, which reports a record high of 37,000-plus attendees from more than 114 countries. After scouring more than 490,000 net square feet of space and visiting with the 947 exhibitors showing new products and technologies, the rAVe team carefully chose the products that they thought were the best and most innovative.

FSR’s new LITE-IT easily provides lighting in floor, wall and ceiling boxes, or anywhere a work light is needed. This little light securely fastens to any ferrous metal surface via a “rare earth” magnetic mounting. A timed circuit automatically turns LITE-IT off after 75 seconds, and its anti-retrigger circuit prevents it from staying on even if the switch is held continuously.

“FSR is proud that our new LITE-IT Enclosure Box Light has not only received a very warm reception from show attendees at this year’s InfoComm show, but that it also gained the attention of the staff from rAVe and won its 2014 Annual Best of InfoComm Award,” said Jan Sandri, FSR president. “While looking to address the needs of our many users in markets ranging from education and houses of worship to corporate and medical, FSR wanted to design a unit that would deliver the same level of outstanding performance for which we are known.”

LITE-IT’s warm 3000K LED color for eye comfort provides over 12 Lumens of light output (20 percent more than a standard PR-2 flashlight bulb), and its super-efficient wide angle dual LED’s furnish a lighting pattern with uniform brightness to very end of battery life. High-quality alkaline batteries are included and pre-installed and provide 4+ years of typical usage from a single pair of batteries (Based on 2 operations per day, 5 days per week, 52 weeks per year).

ICE Cable Systems Invests in the Latest REELEX Cable Coiling Machine

Newer technology features the latest optimizations in both hardware and software, and is customized for ICE Cable Systems’ products, making this premium wire & cable brand’s Big Mouth Payout bulk wire dispenser even better

Example of REELEX II wind pattern and dispenser Los Angeles, CA – August 25, 2014 – ICE Cable Systems, a leading manufacturer of premium low-voltage wire and cable products, today announced that it has invested in a new REELEX coiling machine for its factory.

REELEX’s tangle-free technology is a patented method of winding wire and cable into a figure-eight coil. In optimizing each coil, factors such as gain, payout hole control and the density of the wind, along with progressive coil tension, are all instrumental to producing tangle-free packages. This unique coil can only be produced on a specially-designed and patented REELEX machine and accompanying customized software.

The REELEX II coil within the bulk wire carton does not rotate during payout, nor does any inertia take place. Void of any moving parts, the coil dispenses from the inside-out with a clear path and avoids the typical twists, tangles and snags that plague bulk wire cartons.

The REELEX II technology is a key element in ICE Cable Systems Big Mouth Payout bulk wire carton, that along with other conveniences such as ascending and descending foot markers on the cable jackets, and extremely durable 24 kilogram burst-tested cardboard with dual-layer handles, have made it very popular among installers.

“We’ve taken something good and made it even better,” says ICE Cable Systems President Brian Rizzo. “We’ve invested in a machine that represents the state-of-the-art in wire and cable technology and custom-configured it for our cables. The net result for our dealers will be perfect pulls, from the first foot to the last.”

ICE Cable's Big Mouth Payout bulk wire carton

Timothy Copp, Vice President of REELEX notes, “Installers need to know there is knock-off pull-box packaging out there. Non-REELEX coils might look and act like REELEX, but are prone to tangling, cable deformities, and can cause damage to the cable – leading to performance issues.”

For more information please contact ICE Cable Systems at 310.444.1950.

Nexidia Releases Dialogue Search v1.6 With New-Third Party Integrations

ATLANTA — Aug. 12, 2014 – Nexidia, a leading developer of dialogue and audio analysis products and technologies, today announced version 1.6 of Nexidia Dialogue Search, the company’s solution that searches for any spoken word or phrase across massive media libraries in seconds. With Dialogue Search v1.6, Nexidia has expanded its third-party integrations for the Dalet Galaxy and Squarebox Systems CatDV media asset management (MAM) systems, making them even more valuable and flexible for media operations of any size. In addition, Vizrt and IPV have now integrated dialog search capabilities into their respective MAM applications using the Dialogue Search API.

“We designed Dialogue Search to be an indispensable tool for any media-centric organization needing to find any clip among thousands — or even hundreds of thousands — of hours of media. We do this independent of, but in conjunction with, any existing metadata,” said Drew Lanham, senior vice president and general manager of Nexidia’s Media and Entertainment division. “At the same time, several new technology partnerships mean users can benefit from Dialogue Search in a broader array of tools to make media immediately accessible without the time and expense of logging or transcription.”

Dialogue Search quickly indexes all of the audio in a media library and then utilizes Nexidia’s patented phonetic search technology to find clips based on what is spoken on the audio tracks.

With v1.6, Dialogue Search has expanded its integrations with several of the industry’s MAM and metadata management systems. In addition to the expanded integrations with Dalet Galaxy and Squarebox Systems CatDV, MAM solutions IPV Curator and Vizrt Viz One have now incorporated the Dialogue Search API — enabling Dialogue Search capabilities to create a unified search experience. The API enables all of the user features of Dialogue Search to be integrated in the third-party application without disrupting the existing user experience or workflows.

Nexidia will demonstrate Dialogue Search v1.6 at the IBC2014 in stand 3.A54 and in the IPV Stand, 8.A33. The product will be available in September.

Siggraph 2014 Platinum Sponsor Christie Powers Up Screens and Award-Winning Visual Displays

Christie®, the global leader in visual displays and audio technologies, will be powering the screens that are showing some of the visuals effects of several of the year’s biggest blockbuster films and advances in computer graphics at Vancouver’s 41st International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, SIGGRAPH 2014, August 10 – 14. Christie will also lead a discussion on the latest projection mapping techniques at the NVIDIA Visual Computing Theater. Titled, “Virtual Automotive: Projection Mapped Graphics for Automotive Design,” Christie will display its latest digital “sandbox,” a fully three dimensional visual pipeline designed to automatically calibrate and maintain a customized projection mapped display, such a Corvette or other template model of any size.

“Christie CP4230 Digital Cinema® projectors are essentially powering the amazing Computer Animation Festival (CAF), enabling the leading VFX and film studios to exhibit their best work in two large presentation halls, including AMPAS’ award-winning content in film and animation,” said Jeevan Vivegananthan, senior director of engineering, Christie. “The CP4230 projectors will also showcase cutting-edge, real-time interactive technologies and techniques in the CAF’s Production Sessions as well as three sold-out evening shows of the incredibly popular Electronic Theater which features the finest work in computer graphics from the past year. And our 4K projectors will display a special screening of DreamWorks Animation’s ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’.”

The auditoriums for the CAF and the Production Sessions will each feature two auxiliary screens, flanking the main screen, which will show close-ups of event speakers to the audience. These will be powered by Christie Roadster HD20K-J and Christie Roadster HD14K-M projectors, respectively.

Christie will also illuminate the SIGGRAPH Studio and SIGGRAPH Art Gallery, each of which will feature two Christie G Series projectors and the Art Gallery, which will include a 65-inch LCD touch panel display.
