Digital Projection Launches 10,000 Lumen Laser Projector with 20,000+ Hours of Illumination

North St. Paul Community Center Offers Even More with Hitachi Projectors

North St. Paul, Minnesota, February 21, 2014 – The North St. Paul Community Center in Minnesota, which features a gymnasium, running track, and public library, can certainly be described as multi-purpose. But it’s the community center’s Fireside Room that, through a recent installation of Hitachi projectors, demonstrates the community center’s flexible use of media.

The Fireside Room accommodates 100 guests for any kind of meal, function or gathering. Divided by a center accordion wall that can be left open or closed to form two separate rooms, John Rudie of Provision Media Inc., was tasked with finding a solution that would maximize the versatile space’s entertainment potential.

“They wanted as big of a display screen as possible,” said Mr. Rudie. “But the folding wall presented the real challenge. We ended up installing two separate Hitachi CP-X5021N projectors firing from opposite walls that can be used to project the same image if the need arises.”

The Hitachi CP-X5021N 3LCD projectors feature XGA 1024 x 768 resolution and offer 5,000 ANSI lumens brightness.

“The Fireside Room had one west-facing wall nearly covered in windows,” said Mr. Rudie. “Knowing that these projectors will see a lot of use in the evening, the 5,000 ANSI lumens brightness was enough to counteract all that ambient light.”

The CP-X5021N projectors are regulated by Kramer control panels that make operation simple and intuitive for staff and guests alike.

“So much goes into every installation these days that it’s easy to forget about the core components,” said Mr. Rudie. “Hitachi projectors are the core component of every one of our installations. We’ve never been more satisfied with a projector and based on our feedback, neither have our customers.”

Christie Announces Executive Appointments

Christie 3D Visualization Solutions Chosen for Virtual Construction Simulation at Toronto’s George Brown College BIM Lab

One of Canada’s largest and most diverse colleges, Toronto’s George Brown College, chose Christie’s visualization solutions for its Building Information Modeling (BIM) Lab in the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies (CCET), at the Casa Loma campus. Hitachi Projectors Offer the Best Solution for Evangelical Free Church’s Technology Needs

Bozeman, Montana, February 13, 2014 – Today’s houses of worship are a far cry from the small churches of medieval Europe. Where priests used to project their voices to be heard by their parishioners, now they employ digital projectors to accompany their sermons. The Evangelical Free Church is no stranger to these technological advancements: streaming services online, uploading sermons, and, most recently, purchasing two Hitachi CP-WX8265 projectors to be used for every mass.

“We needed new widescreen projectors that could be networked together, handle high room temperatures and provide a high enough brightness to overcome constant sunlight,” says Kyle Blackmore, Technical Ministry Director at Evangelical Free Church of Bozeman. “Hitachi’s CP-WX8265 projector has proven capable and consistent and came highly recommended for everything we needed.”

Mr. Blackmore had been on the lookout for new projectors when his older non-Hitachi projectors’ bulbs burned out and the LCD panels needed replacing. In October of 2013, he installed two Hitachi CP-WX8265 projectors in the main sanctuary room, which has a vaulted ceiling leading to high temperatures and lots of light.

“The projectors are suspended 30 feet high, but we’ve experienced no issues with overheating,” said Mr. Blackmore. “The picture quality has been excellent, clear and bright even in direct sunlight.”

The networking capability has also made Mr. Blackmore’s life much easier—with so many people using the projector, being able to monitor the projectors’ status and temperature remotely saves him time.

Consistent and high-quality performance made the Hitachi CP-WX8265 projector ideal for Bozeman’s Evangelical Free Church.

“So far, they’ve been running great,” said Mr. Blackmore. “And I expect they will continue to do so for many years to come.”

Showlogix has demonstrated Show and Media control software at ISE 2014

This new software offers very powerful media server functionality and control versatility. This includes the ability to drive an unlimited number of synchronized displays with geometric correction and edge blending.

Showlogix can play up to 30 layers of video, image, external inputs and dynamic text.

MassAV Creates ‘Ultimate Production Snake’ by FiberPlex

It’s lights, cameras and a whole lot more action for massAV as a result of a new FiberPlex Technologies optical snake recently added to its linecard.

The live event AV staging and production company in Billerica, Massachusetts, purchased FiberPlex’s WDM optical multiplexer to create what massAV Director of Operations Aaron Raymond calls the ultimate production snake. “We build a lot of very high end video systems, and when you start adding multiple lines of HD video along with audio, data, lighting and control for an event, it really has to be fiber,” he said, adding, “We’d been limited in our use of fiber until now because it meant having to set up an optical transmitter and receiver on every single channel, and that got expensive.”

Now, with FiberPlex’s WDM-8 active wave division multiplexer, massAV can multiplex eight discrete signals at 3 Gb/s each for transporting video, audio, lighting and control feeds onto one fiber pair.

The FiberPlex WDM multiplexer comes in 16-channel and 8-channel models and are on a cost parity with copper and copper’s associated installation and handling expenses. As the cost of copper cabling continues to rise, companies like massAV are going the fiber optic route to transport large volumes of content. Optical fiber has ten times the transference rate of copper at the high end and can transmit data error-free over greater distances by a 400:1 ratio.

“The FiberPlex multiplexer makes it so that we can run eight channels on the same fiber pair as opposed to dealing with the different types and sizes of copper cabling as well as the need to re-clock signals every couple hundred feet for longer runs,” explained Raymond.

As a result, massAV is able to replace 2,000 pounds of copper cabling with a 25-pound spool of fiber optics for large events, a savings that is realized by its corporate and other live event customers in reduced labor, setup time and transportation costs to truck in and set up copper cabling at events.

Multiplexing media and control signals onto one, 1/4-inch optical cable is also ideal for events that require running cables down hallways, across doorways or through public areas where bulky copper cabling is not practical, said Raymond.

massAV recently tried out the new multiplexer for a 1,500-person event with a main stage, two control areas, and 26 video projectors in the air – all tied together via the ultimate production snake consisting of little more than a spool of fiber optic cabling and a pair of WDM multiplexers. The setup involved multiple lines of data, video, audio, lighting control, intercom communications, and serial communications between equipment.

FiberPlex’s eight-channel WDM-8 and sixteen-channel WDM-16 multiplexers use interchangeable SFP/SFP+ modules for interfacing to a variety of gear and environments, including converting between media formats SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, and 6G-SDI and for HDMI/DVI, 10/100/1G Ethernet and MADI, as well as full duplex and BiDi optical. massAV’s new multiplexer provides the flexibility now and into the immediate future as new media requirements change, noted Raymond.

FiberPlex recently took to the road to conduct a 25-city demo tour of its active wave division multiplexers as the ultimate production snake (check with a local FiberPlex representative for details).
