D-TOOLS TO DEMONSTRATE WORKFLOW-ENHANCING MOBILE QUOTE APP at ISC WEST 2014

Companion app to SIX 2013 enables security systems integrators to remotely generate bids and later import them into D-Tools SIX 2013 for full project design and management.

D-Tools Mobile Quote is a Companion App to D-Tools System Integrator that extended the user's workflow to a mobile environment for onsite consultations.

CONCORD, CA (ISC West 2014 booth #26135) MARCH 26, 2014 D-Tools, Inc., the worldwide leader in system integration software, today announced that the Company will demonstrate its new iOS-based iPad® companion app for its flagship product, SIX 2013 at ISC West April 2-4, 2014 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas (D-Tools booth #26135). Available now for D-Tools partners worldwide, the new release adds mobile quoting capabilities that enable Commercial and Residential AV integrators to generate quotes natively on an iPad, then import them into the full D-Tools SIX 2013 software platform for further project design and management. Delivering on D-Tools’ commitment to streamline product updates and enhancements by consolidating them into an annual release, this new companion app will immediately extend the highly functional D-Tools workflow to mobile sales and specification teams.

A native iOS application, the D-Tools Mobile Quote app leverages D-Tools’ extensive manufacturer product library by enabling integrators to access and integrate product category and package data from their SIX 2013 catalog while working with customers in the field. Integrators can enter client and contact information into the iPad app, then walk prospective customers through available installation scenarios in order to create a quote for approval. Once complete, the resulting quote can then be imported into SIX 2013 for additional design work and synchronization.

The Mobile Quote app uses many of D-Tools’ workflow concepts, including the specification of locations and systems, which allows integrators to provide packages or pre-configured systems for inclusion in the quote. Labor and general pricing will be calculated to give the customer an accurate proposal, which can then be signed off for approval on the spot.

“Delivering features that enable our users to create quotes in the field is a natural evolution for us. The D-Tools Mobile Quote app is an important component that ensures our platform continues to meet the growing needs of our expanding security customer base,” said Adam Stone, President and Founder of D-Tools. “The Mobile Quote app release is just the beginning. In fact, we are already working on additional mobile capabilities that significantly enhance our product roadmap. As we have demonstrated since the release of SIX last year, our new platform enables us to deploy new features as part of rapid and regular release cycles, which will ultimately provide our customers a clear path for sustained growth. We think ISC West attendees will be excited by the capabilities of this powerful new app. ”

More than 4,500 companies worldwide use D-Tools Systems Integrator Software to streamline the estimation, design, and project management processes associated with the installation and integration of low voltage systems.

The D-Tools Mobile Quote iPad® app will be demonstrated during ISC West April 2-4, 2014 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, D-Tools booth # 26135. Hitachi Expands 9000 Series Large-Venue Projectors with Off-White Color Availability for All Models

Chula Vista, California, March 24, 2014 – Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group is introducing the availability of off-white-colored versions of all its 9000 Series DLP projectors. The CP-X9111, CP-WX9211 and CP-WU9411 projectors achieve up to 10,000 lumens brightness with remarkable image quality and ease of installation, making them ideal for large venues and staging applications. By releasing off-white editions of the 9000 Series projectors, Hitachi has made it easier for installers to seamlessly integrate projectors into existing environments.

All models feature Hitachi’s exclusive Accentualizer image processing with controls that enhance sharpness, improve contrast and make fine details clearer. Users can also adjust the effects by three levels according to the surroundings so that the colors of the projected images are the actual colors of the objects they represent.

The 9000 Series projectors also feature two built-in color wheels, enabling users to easily switch between Rich Color Mode, which is ideal for use in environments where vibrant, rich images are required, and Bright Mode, which is ideal for presentations and other situations that require the sharing of information. In addition, the projectors offer built-in edge blending capability that achieves the seamless projection of one image using multiple projectors.

All projectors include motorized lens shift that enables lens shift, zoom and focus to be perfectly dialed in and increases installation flexibility. Moreover, six interchangeable lenses are available to match various screen sizes and installation environments. Projection is possible in diverse installation areas from small conference rooms to auditoriums, convention halls and other large spaces. For added ease of installation, the 9000 Series projectors can be installed facing any direction in 360 degrees, allowing the projectors to be utilized in a variety of ways at a variety of angles.

The 9000 Series feature HDCR (High Dynamic Contrast Range), a function that lets users correct blurred images that are caused by room lighting or outside light sources, resulting in clear images even in bright rooms. In addition, the projectors’ Motion Adaptive Deinterlacer provides focused images, even for fast-moving video.

Lastly, the 9000 Series is equipped with a dual lamp system. Dual Mode achieves a high brightness up to 10,000 lumens in a compact body weighing only 41 pounds. In Single Mode, if one lamp stops functioning during use, the second lamp activates and projects the image with no interruption in the projection. Twenty-four hours of continuous operation is possible with the Alternative mode, which alternates the use of the two lamps.

Cress also noted that Christie’s offerings span the needs of independent exhibitors, which encompass art houses, drive-ins, film festivals and post-production studios, as well as global cinema chains, to leverage cinema and alternative content across all sizes of cinema auditoriums, in 2K, 4K and in 3D, on standard and large-format, “premium screens”.

In addition to comprehensive solutions on display in Christie booth #2103A, the Christie CP2215, a compact digital cinema projector suited for theaters with screens up to 50 feet (15 meters), and the latest high-value addition to the Christie® Solaria™ Series of digital cinema projectors, will be in use in the Dolby Labs Milano 1 meeting room at the show, featuring the Christie Vive Audio solution powered by Dolby® Atmos™ sound technology. CinemaCon attendees can request a demo of the solution at the Christie booth.

Christie is sponsoring the International Day Luncheon and Awards Presentations on Monday, March 24 and, in concert with RealD Inc., will also sponsor the Paramount Opening Night Dinner Party that day. In addition, two Christie Solaria CP4230 DLP Cinema® projectors will be in use for selected event screening in the Colosseum.

House of Worship Drives Triple-Screen Projection with Matrox TripleHead2Go

Catalina Church uses TripleHead2Go external multi-monitor adapter to revitalize its stage and enhance audience engagement

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced that Tucson-based Catalina Church created its new visually-stunning triple-projector setup using a Matrox TripleHead2Go external multi-monitor adapter. Sound and visual technology experts CCI Solutions recommended the low-cost, easy-to-use multi-monitor solution to drive dynamic, inspirational content across the three-screen-configuration, resulting in a revitalized stage design that has enhanced worship engagement.

Matrox TripleHead2Go at Catalina Church

Already familiar with TripleHead2Go for other house of worship installations, CCI Solutions connected the adapter to an Apple® iMac desktop computer to support three Christie® projectors. Featuring a compact black box design, TripleHead2Go easily connects to iMac computers via the Thunderbolt™, Mini DisplayPort™, or Mini DVI video output—depending on the model—without a need to open up the system. The installed RenewedVision™ ProPresenter® lyric and media presentation software meanwhile permits church staff to easily manage video and graphics on the screens, which can serve as a decorative design element, complementary showpiece for musical performances, or even an enlarged reading surface for lyrics or text.

“Visually our space used to have no focus and getting people to engage in worship was a challenge,” said Brian O’Morrow, worship pastor at Catalina Church. “Not only does our triple-screen system look amazing, it is super simple for our volunteers to use and helps us create the engaging, interactive experience we were hoping for.”

Cinemagic to Digitize National Chain with Christie Cinema Solutions

Cinemagic, a cinema chain focused on building cinemas in towns between 50 and 70 thousand inhabitants of Mexico, and Christie®, the dominant brand in the global digital cinema projection market, today announced the joint digitization of 70 screens currently operated by Cinemagic in Mexico.

Christie will supply an assortment of Christie Solaria® One+ and Christie CP2220 projectors to the Cinemagic complexes, facilitated by Scrabble Entertainment, an international deployment entity whose financing of DCI-compliant digital cinema projector conversions helps all manner of cinemas make the move to digital technology.

“With Christie supplying the highest quality of digital cinema equipment and technical support, Cinemagic will be able to offer to our audience the best quality in cinema projection in each of the cities we serve,” said Roberto Quintero, CEO, Cinemagic.

“Cinemagic is to be commended on its mission to bring cinema to the small communities without entertainment options in Mexico,” said Ernesto Armus, general manager for Christie Mexico. “We are honored to be part of its mission and are committed to supplying Cinemagic with the world’s leading digital projection hardware, software and services.”

Roberto Quintero said, “We are confident that with dedication, effort and together with our strategic partners, we will ensure the growth and consolidation of our project to successfully bring cinema to the small communities of our country.”

Christie to Demo Breakthrough 3D Cinema Technology For Premium Cinema Experiences with Latest ‘6-Primary’ 4K Laser Projector

Christie® today announced upcoming demonstrations of the world’s most advanced laser projection architecture and Dolby® 3D, to be held in the Christie Innovation Theaters throughout CinemaCon 2014 (Caesars Palace, March 24-27) and the National Association of Broadcasters NAB Show® (Las Vegas Convention Center, April 5-10). Christie DLP Cinema® laser projectors using 6-Primary (6P) color laser modules, earmarked for mass production in early 2015, will show how 3D light levels, image uniformity, viewing comfort, and a sense of immersion can be vastly improved, especially when combined with advanced separation technology like Dolby 3D, versus conventional 3D systems found in cinemas around the world today.

“Recent declines in domestic 3D movie attendance are a sign that the novelty is wearing off, with audiences less willing to pay a premium for what is all too often a mediocre experience. The lackluster quality of this experience results from a number of technical limitations with current 3D system architectures, the most serious one being restricted light levels that amount to only 10-30 percent of those levels achieved for 2D presentations,” said Don Shaw, senior director, Product Management, Christie Entertainment Solutions. “Simply put, the movies are too dark, leaving audiences struggling to discern critical details that make up the image in front of them.”

“Christie’s latest laser projection technology, using 6 specific primary colors rather than filtered or polarized broad-spectrum white light, brings dramatically improved 3D efficiency to projection systems, regardless of the size of screen in premium movie theaters,” added Shaw. “We believe that this is the future of 3D cinema projection, that it is right around the corner, and that it will be a key element in boosting 3D box office revenues around the world. Our CinemaCon and NAB Show demonstrations will be the first 6P laser events available to the broad cinema community, from filmmakers to exhibitors, and reaffirms Christie’s 80-year commitment to cinema innovation, rather than ‘moving beyond digital cinema’ as some other industry players have promised.”

At least twice as efficient as today’s best 3D systems, Christie’s 6P laser projectors generate a proprietary mix of photoptically-optimized light wavelengths for each eye directly from the source, in effect eliminating the need for a highly inefficient stage of filtering or polarizing the light as it leaves the projector. The Christie demos will use Dolby® 3D glasses specifically engineered to exactly match the 6 primary laser light wavelengths to yield nearly 90 percent light efficiency. “Their color separation based technique for 3D is well regarded as the gold standard among industry professionals, especially for its true color reproduction, compatibility with low-gain white screens, and superior crosstalk performance – only now it can be part of a system that is tremendously more light efficient,” said Shaw.

“Dolby 3D’s advanced color separation technology is ideally suited for next generation laser projectors,” said Doug Darrow, Senior Vice President, Cinema, Dolby Laboratories. “With extremely high light efficiency, nearly no crosstalk and crisp images with vibrant colors, we believe Dolby 3D combined with laser projection produces the best possible 3D viewing experience for audiences.”

“Having had the opportunity to witness an early 6P laser demo at Christie’s worldwide center for engineering, research and development in Canada, I can confidently state that this is an exciting and important innovation in 3D cinema,“ said Matt Cowan, Co-founder & Senior Technical Advisor at Entertainment Technology Consultants. “I look forward to further refinement of this technology and upcoming installation in premiere theaters around the world.”

Consistent with efforts so far in developing 3-Primary (3P) laser projectors, which Christie sees filling important needs in several, non-cinema industries, Christie laser projectors will provide industry-leading brightness (up to 72,000 Lumens per projector head), wider color gamut capabilities, higher contrast, and dramatically reduced maintenance requirements, resulting in a better experience for all applications. As part of its largest research and development program ever, Christie will continue to develop superior 6P and 3P laser projection solutions for all of its global customers.

Specific to the development of cinema laser projectors, Christie leads the industry in this area, having announced last year that it would supply and install the world’s first commercial laser projection solution for the Seattle Cinerama Theatre, and that it was the first to receive a US FDA approval of variance allowing the sale and installation of laser projectors in movie theaters and other high performance projection venues.

Hoyts Chile Chooses Christie for their Conversion to Digital Cinema

Christie®, a world leader in digital cinema projection, is pleased to announce that it has been chosen by Hoyts Chile, the leading screening chain belonging to Grupo Chilefilms, to digitize its 127 35mm theaters distributed across 23 complexes throughout the country. The agreement includes the installation of digital cinema projectors from the Christie Solaria™ Series, the Christie Avias-TMS™ Theatre Management System and select Christie Vive Audio™ cinema sound systems.

To carry out the digital theater conversion process, Hoyts Chile released a private technology tender in which it invited the most distinguished suppliers in the industry to bid. “In the end we chose Christie because their business proposal was the most complete, attractive and aggressive,” stated Juan Carlos Arriagada Mons, General Manager of Cinecolor Chile, Grupo Chilefilms division that provides technology services for all business units of the group.

“Christie knew how to interpret our planning, appreciated our apprehension with technological changes and financing needs and they pledged their commitment to a close, long-term relationship. Their offer was not limited to supplying projection equipment only, but they also guaranteed immediate access to spare parts, lamps, new technologies and financing in a long-term contract,” added Juan Carlos Arriagada Mons, Cinecolor Chile.

Hoyts Chile has a long business relationship with Christie. In fact, in mid-June of 2012, the color correction/projection theaters of Cinecolor –the post-production division for images, sound and cinematographic laboratory of Grupo Chilefilms with presence in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Chile – was equipped with Christie CP2220 projectors.

Craig Sholder, VP, Entertainment Solutions at Christie, said “We are delighted that Hoyts Chile has once again put their trust in our projectors for their digital theater roll out, which is proof of the confidence and respect that theater professionals have for Christie. Today the digital cinema projectors that Christie manufactures have the largest worldwide market share because exhibitors recognize that our projectors, in addition to having exceptional image quality, offer the best light efficiency and the lowest operating costs”.

Christie will supply Hoyts Chile with a variety of DLP Cinema® projectors, such as Christie CP2215, Christie CP2220 and Christie CP2230, as well as the Christie Avias-TMS™ Theatre Management System (TMS), which allows the screen operators to centrally control and organize all projection operations from a multi-screen theater.

Furthermore, Hoyts Chile will equip three of their theaters with the innovative Christie Vive Audio™ cinema sound solution, which they will use along with a leading immersive audio platform, Dolby® Atmos™.

“Christie invited us to several demonstrations of the Vive Audio technology, where we were able to witness and systematically measure the extraordinary distribution of the sound pressure throughout the audience, which substantially improves the intelligibility of the dialogue (with respect to cone-based speaker systems) and the uniform distribution of sound in the theater, greatly decreasing the rebounding that causes interference,” said Juan Carlos Arriagada Mons.

Hoyts Chile’s roll out, which will take place through a Virtual Print Fee (VPF) agreement with GDC Technology, began in January of 2014 and it is expected to be completed by November of this year, including the digitalization by Christie of the new theaters that Hoyts Chile plans on opening in 2015 and 2016, which could number as many as 30 screens.

With a contrast ratio of up to 5,000:1 and active 3D capabilities with up to 144Hz refresh rate, the M-Vision 930 offers features normally associated with high-end 3-chip DLP systems at a single-chip price point. The incomparable brightness, 0.96” DarkChipTM DMD, and 6-segment color wheel produce an image quality and brightness unrivalled in the single chip projector market. Dual HDMI 1.4, DVI and 3G-SDI inputs enable the latest high speed video delivery. HDBaseT connectivity further augments the M-Vision 930’s input options, allowing for the transmission of uncompressed High Definition Video over a CAT5e/6 LAN cable.

Imaging versatility is a key deliverable with the M-Vision WUXGA 930, with Edge Blend and Geometric Correction included as standard features. Impressive installation flexibility, by way of a complete suite of professional lenses offering throw ratios from 0.84:1 to 4.00:1, is yet another critical feature within the new display.
