Engineered to provide superior performance and reliability, the SIRIO 2014 projector transforms any large media room into the ultimate high-tech, high- performance entertainment system.

The SIRIO 2014 is available in the same striking matte black finish used in the luxury automotive industry—the most useful finish for a heavy-duty environment.

Available by the end of February, prices for the SIRIO 2014 start at $20,000 with standard lens.

Hitachi Projector Boosts Resident Involvement and Participation at Tara Woods Community

North Fort Myers, Florida, January 31, 2014 – As the central gathering area of the Tara Woods 55-and-older community in North Fort Myers, FL, the center’s clubhouse needs to provide a consistent projection source for all kinds of media. After a previous projector had failed, Wayne Cox’s experience in educational A/V led him to purchase a Hitachi CP-WX8265 projector for the community. The projector was purchased from Harmon’s Audio Visual in Fort Myers, FL.

“There are no window coverings in the clubhouse, so high brightness is a must,” said Mr. Cox, who is a member of a volunteer group called Sound and Lighting that sets up, operates and services all audio and video equipment for the community. “I’ve already received plenty of positive feedback from the community on the brightnesow s and clarity of images.”

The clubhouse seats several hundred and is used for movie nights, bingo and, most recently projected lyrics during the community’s Christmas Carol Sing-a-long.

“Attendance at our movie night has already increased because of the picture quality,” said Mr. Cox. “We are able to rely on the image quality even on the brightest days.”

Mr. Cox, now retired, used to work as the Technologies Manager at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He became familiar with Hitachi products during his time there, recognizing the projectors for their high resolution, brightness, contrast ratio, aspect ratio and connectivity.

The Hitachi CP-WX8265 3LCD projector features a brightness of 6,500 ANSI lumens and supports an aspect ratio of 16:10 WXGA.

Providing 6000 lumens and WXGA/HD/WUXGA resolution, the three new Christie G Series models raise the benchmark of single-lamp, high brightness 1-chip DLP® performance at a low ownership cost.

Also debuting at ISE is Christie Q Series. The 1-chip DLP® projector powerhouse with a sophisticated design delivers best-in-class performance with brightness options ranging from 8500 to 10,000 lumens and XGA, WXGA, and WUXGA resolutions.

Christie Q Series Debuts at ISE 2014

Upgraded and Expanded Christie G Series Delivers 6000 lumens and Six-Segment Color Wheel
Boasting 6000 lumens and a single-lamp design, the upgraded Christie G Series is the brightest in its category and provides the exceptional image quality, brightness and dependability that is essential for presentations in board and conference rooms. For higher education, government facilities and houses of worship with limited budgets, the Christie G Series delivers the cost effective solution combined with long-life DLP® technology needed in such environments.

A new category in the upgraded Christie G Series is the Christie DWX600-G with WXGA resolution. The Christie DWX600-G is ideal for applications where the superior image quality of 1-chip DLP® and high brightness are vital but high resolution is secondary. Each upgraded Christie G Series projector is also equipped with a six-segment color wheel for the widest possible color range and more natural, vibrant images. Now shipping with a standard lens included, end users can also choose from a suite of optional lenses.

“As customer expectations change and grow, Christie is in the vanguard of providing brighter and better 1-chip DLP® solutions for a variety of installations and with two upgraded models and a brand new WXGA model, Christie has a complete line-up of 1-chip DLP solutions for every presentation need,” said Curtis Lingard, technical product manager, Christie. “The upgraded Christie G Series is durable and suitable for demanding environments such as signage and museums where the projector will be on for long periods of time. Unique to this class of projectors, the upgraded G Series also delivers multi-projector blends onto curved surfaces seamlessly and effortlessly for a perfect image every time.”

Installation is straightforward with features like optional wireless connectivity and input options including HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort. When it comes to authentic images, the Dynamic Contrast feature boosts contrast ratios up to 4800:1 and Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture functionality provide flexible display options.

The Christie DWU600-G replaces the DWU550-G and the Christie DHD600-G replaces the DHD550-G. Along with a boost in brightness, the new G Series models also offer 33 percent longer lamp life over the previous models and are equipped with DICOM® (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) Simulation Mode for training purposes.

New Christie Q Series 1-Chip DLP Delivers Up To 10,000 Lumens
The Christie Q Series 1-chip DLP® platform with brightness options ranging from 8500 to 10,000 lumens and XGA, WXGA and WUXGA resolutions is equipped with eClarity™ – advanced image processing that significantly enhances images by providing greater control over image sharpness, gloss and shading. With built-in High Dynamic Contrast Range (HDCR), image ‘washout’ in high ambient light conditions is eliminated by adjusting the dynamic contrast to recapture detail lost by excess ambient light on the screen. Christie Q Series is also equipped with DICOM® (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) Simulation Mode for training purposes, all in an elegant design.

“Whether displayed in portrait or landscape mode, Christie Q Series sets an industry benchmark for brightness and flexibility in this category of 1-chip DLP,” said Frank Anzures, senior product manager, Christie. “With the finest digital display tools available combined with an unsurpassed commitment to 1-chip DLP® solutions, end users have peace of mind with Christie.”

With the built-in dual color wheel, users can quickly choose between two color wheels to select the one that best suits their content and application.

“The High-Brightness color wheel provides superior whites for better graphic presentations while the Ultra Rich-Color wheel provides an expanded color gamut that rivals cinema color space,” said Anzures. “The Q Series is also equipped with an automation function that allows for easy switching between the color wheels.”

For rental staging applications including concerts, conventions and other events where visuals are a vital component, end users will recognize the Q Series’ difference when blending or warping images from multiple projectors onto flat, curved, hexagonal, or spherical surfaces.

Usable in either single lamp or dual lamp mode, Christie Q Series models include the Christie DXG1051, Christie DWX951 and the Christie DWU951. Both Q Series and G Series ship in March with a three-year warranty, backed by Christie’s industry-leading renowned customer service and support.

Technical Direction Company (TDC) provides the perfect video backdrop for 27th ARIA Awards

Video display experts, Technical Direction Company (TDC) supplied all video technology elements for the 27th ARIA Awards held at The Star, Sydney, Australia on 1 December 2013.

The ARIA Awards are the official awards of the Australian Record Industry Association attended by an audience of over 4,000. The event was broadcast live on Channel 9’s “GO!” with performances from many Australian artists including Birds of Tokyo, Bliss n Eso and Tame Impala as well as special guest appearances from Alicia Keys and Lorde.

The ceremony was produced by Michael Long and Vicki Gerrans. Set design was by Kim Buddee. Stunning screen graphics were produced and operated by Rod Morris.

TDC supplied custom automated rolling screens with ultra-bright 26K HD projectors, that not only provided a uniform, succinct and clean look according to the set design but also acted as a mask for set changeovers. TDC also supplied 200 square metres of high-resolution LED video display as well as video projections and creative and scenic LED elements along with switching, control and technical crew.

ARIA Event Producer, Michael Long said: “We’ve worked with TDC for a number of years because they have quality product, they always deliver on time and within budget meeting our set designer needs and music act requirements. TDC has an excellent logistical and creative team that can cope well with any last minute changes.

“For the Birds of Tokyo, Tame Impala, Jessica Mauboy performances and various DJ’s we used all 4 LED screens on stage along with two side screens. We created a specific look for act changeover where TDC’s two large projection screens came down and covered the stage. Because the venue didn’t have the ceiling height, we had to think of something different and thankfully TDC had some special screens available. TDC suggested early on that we use 6×6 metre screens with custom-built truss to roll them in and out creating a seamless image and transition.”

Olin Winton, Technical Manager at Technical Direction Company said: “Creating a seamless video and LED video technology elements was vital to this project. We were able to utilize some of our highest resolution LED stock for the 27th ARIA Awards which created the perfect backdrop to the Australian and international music performances.”

The TDC Crew working on this project included:
Olin Winton
Kain Jones
Karl Johnstone
Will Day
Anthony Pellizzari

“We really appreciate the support that TDC gives the ARIA Awards and the Australian music industry,” ended Long.
